The Admiral of Hogwarts

#13 - Visiting professor

After some discussion and persuasion, at noon, the owl, which had been well treated with raw meat and milk by Mrs. Granger, took off from the Granger's house with a letter, and then fluttered its wings and flew north.

By evening, the owl reappeared on the windowsill where it had been in the morning, pecking at the glass. After Mrs. Granger opened the window, the owl handed her a tightly rolled parchment scroll with its claws and then fluttered its wings and flew away.

"Dear, what was that just now?" Mr. Granger asked, looking at Mrs. Granger as she walked into the living room with an unfolded parchment scroll in her hand. "I thought I heard something knocking on the window."

"Because the owl from noon today brought us a reply," Mrs. Granger said, under the curious gazes of the three people in the living room. "This Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry says they will send someone over the day after tomorrow to explain everything clearly to us."

"Great!" Hugo and Hermione, who had been playing chess on the side, jumped up excitedly. Hugo was excited because he could now enter Hogwarts to change the plot and accumulate destiny points, and then summon all his ship girls one by one.

Hermione was excited because, for a child her age, going to a top public school and then a top university after the holidays, and then living a life not much different from her parents, a situation where she could see decades into the future, was less appealing than going to magic school to learn magic.

As for why the school would send someone, it was easy to understand. After all, every year there are Muggle-born wizards attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, so Hugo thought this home visit was likely a standard procedure for Hogwarts.

After all, Hogwarts also knows that as a magic school hidden in the magical world, if they want to allow those ordinary parents who know nothing about the magical world to let their children go to such a school to learn magic, the school must do something to make those parents realize that magic is real, not some kind of joke.

Therefore, on the morning of the third day, the entire Granger family finished breakfast early and waited in the living room, dressed in formal clothes. At five minutes to nine in the morning, there was a knock on the door.

"It seems they are quite punctual." Hearing the knock, Mr. Granger immediately put down his newspaper and stood up, then walked to the door to open it for the knocker. As a doctor, he naturally had a good impression of people who could keep time.

"Madam, may I ask who you are?" After opening the door, Mr. Granger saw an elderly woman in an old-fashioned black robe standing at the door.

"Hello, I am Professor McGonagall from Hogwarts. Are you Mr. Granger?" Professor McGonagall said politely, looking at Mr. Granger who opened the door.

"Yes, we received the owl's letter earlier." Mr. Granger nodded, opened the door wider, and gestured for her to enter, "Please come in, Professor McGonagall, it's not appropriate to talk at the door."

When the two of them arrived in the living room, they found that Hugo and Hermione had already prepared tea and snacks. After sitting on the sofa, Professor McGonagall looked at the two adults and said, "I am here today to discuss matters concerning your children's future education with you."

"So, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry really exists, doesn't it?" After exchanging a glance, Mr. Granger asked Professor McGonagall, who was sitting across the coffee table. "But magic—"

"Magic exists, it's just that the entire magical world is hidden, so you Muggles didn't know of our existence before." Professor McGonagall explained patiently. As a professor who has worked at the school for many years, she has seen Mr. Granger's situation more than once or twice, so she is very experienced.

After saying these words, Professor McGonagall took out her wand and tapped a teacup on the table, which immediately turned into a beautiful little bird. The little bird flew around the living room singing, then landed back on the coffee table and turned back into the teacup filled with black tea.

"Magic is indeed amazing." Mrs. Granger said after seeing this scene, "I also know that since my children have this talent for magic, it is acceptable for them to receive professional training. But if I may be so bold, can you tell us what our children can do after graduating from the school?"

"Madam, please forgive us parents for being worried about our children's future prospects." Mr. Granger said at this time, "My two children have now received admission offers from the top public schools in the UK. If nothing unexpected happens, they will have a bright future. So I hope you can give me a reason to let my children give up all of this."

"No one can guarantee what the future will be like." Professor McGonagall pursed her lips and said with a serious face, "But I can tell you that everything I just did is just a simple application of magic. There are many more things that magic can do—"

After briefly introducing the content about magical power, Professor McGonagall changed the subject to the content about the future of their children that Mr. and Mrs. Granger are most concerned about: "—Wizards in this world, like you Muggles who don't understand magic, have their own society, and don't hide alone in the jungle like in your fairy tales. So it's not impossible to find a good job after graduating from us."

Speaking of this, Professor McGonagall showed a proud look. "And Hogwarts, which sent invitations to your children, is an ancient school with a history of nearly a thousand years, and also one of the three best magic schools in Europe. Every student who successfully graduates from Hogwarts can find a decent job in the magical world."

"That is to say, there are not only three magic schools in Europe. I remember the information said that there seems to be one in Russia." Hugo thought divergently after hearing this sentence, "But thinking about it, this is also very normal. The three schools that appeared in the original book should not be able to cover the entire Europe in theory. Besides, the magical world pays attention to a long history. It is not surprising that countries in Eastern and Southern Europe such as Greece, which have their own unique culture and sufficient history, have their own magic schools."

Just as Hugo was thinking about those things about magic schools, Professor McGonagall was describing to Mr. and Mrs. Granger what kind of life students who graduated from Hogwarts would have, but the kind of work that the professor described was easy, with winter and summer vacations, and even a lot of time and money to conduct magical research, how did it sound like a portrayal of Professor McGonagall's own life.

"If that's the case, I think I roughly understand what your magical world is all about." Mr. Granger nodded and said, "Please allow our family to discuss a few words, and we can give you an answer in up to five minutes."
