The Admiral of Hogwarts
#134 - Opening Ceremony
After the Sorting Ceremony began, Professor McGonagall, wearing glasses and her hair pulled back in a tight bun, placed the famous Hogwarts Sorting Hat on a stool in front of the new students.
Every year, this patched, dirty, and tattered old hat sorts the new students into the four houses of Hogwarts.
Last year, Hugo was sorted into Ravenclaw here. At that time, he was obviously a little nervous, worried that the Sorting Hat would see some things about him that shouldn't be known. Fortunately, the Admiral Network helped him shield that part of his memory, allowing him to pass this test smoothly.
And now, he could watch the new students being nervously sorted by that old hat, just like the older students from last year.
On the platform behind the Sorting Hat, all the school's faculty members except Snape smiled at each sorted student, presumably to welcome them.
Among the new students this year, there were several supporting characters from the original story that Hugo remembered as being very important. Just as he remembered, the red-haired Ginny and the blonde Colin Creevey were both sorted into Gryffindor, while Luna, who also had blonde hair but looked a little eccentric, was sorted into Ravenclaw.
Except for the times when these relatively important characters from the original story appeared and Hugo focused his attention, he spent the rest of the time looking around the hall, trying to find the holder of Voldemort's Horcrux, who was likely to be in this very hall.
Unfortunately, whether that person really wasn't here or had only recently come into contact with the Horcrux, Hugo didn't find anyone who looked suspicious.
When the last girl, with short black hair, was sorted into Hufflepuff, the Sorting Ceremony ended. Professor McGonagall left the sorting area with the Sorting Hat and the small stool.
Then Professor Dumbledore stood up. Although he was very old, he was still as energetic as the young people.
"Welcome!" Professor Dumbledore said, rising from his high-backed chair, the light from the candles on the ceiling shining on his beard.
"Welcome to Hogwarts for a new school year! I am very pleased to see you all again. Before you start your meal, I have some important things to say."
"Of course, this is a happy occasion." Professor Dumbledore glanced at the students below and said, "This year, I am delighted to welcome two new teachers to our ranks."
"The first is Professor Lockhart. I think you already know that after receiving my invitation, he temporarily put aside his travels and agreed to my request to have him come to the school to be the professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts."
The Great Hall was filled with applause and cheers, especially from the girls, some of whom even stood up and applauded vigorously.
However, Hermione and Venetto, who were next to Hugo, remained quietly seated at the table, looking at the peacock with a somewhat disdainful gaze.
"Look at the professors." Hermione tugged at Hugo's sleeve at this moment. Reminded by her, Hugo noticed that the faces of the professors sitting at the long table looked a little bad. Most of them only applauded politely, and some, like Professor Snape, didn't move at all.
Obviously, Lockhart, this celebrity in the magical world, was not well-received by these professors.
For these professors, they felt that to be a professor, one should at least look like a professor, and not maintain the appearance of a celebrity after entering the school.
"As for the second teacher we have appointed," Headmaster Dumbledore continued after waving his hands several times to signal everyone to be quiet.
"Considering some of the accidents that occurred last year and the work of Deputy Headmistress McGonagall, I am very pleased to hire Enterprise Halsey to serve as Hogwarts' Safety Officer and Transfiguration Assistant."
Enterprise stood up and waved to everyone when Professor Dumbledore introduced her, just like Lockhart did. Perhaps because Enterprise's outstanding appearance as a ship girl, coupled with her age not being much older than the upperclassmen, the applause for Enterprise was not much less than that for Lockhart.
"Well, I think the important things have been said," Dumbledore said after everyone finished applauding. "Let the feast begin. I wish you all a pleasant evening."
As soon as the headmaster finished speaking, the golden plates and goblets in front of them suddenly filled with food and drinks. Hugo, who had been shaken around in the car all day and hadn't eaten much snacks, felt very hungry now, so he took some of the food he could reach and started eating.
It was a sumptuous feast; the Great Hall echoed with laughter and the clatter of knives and forks. Everyone was sharing their experiences from the summer vacation or various interesting things they had encountered recently with their classmates.
However, Hermione and Hugo were focused on eating at this time, hoping to ask Enterprise how she came to be here after finishing their meal.
When the last small piece of pumpkin pie disappeared from the golden plate, Dumbledore announced that everyone should go to bed, so Hermione and her brother immediately jumped up from their seats and headed straight for the entrance of the Great Hall.
After waiting for a few seconds at the door, they quickly waited for Enterprise, who came out with a large number of students.
"Congratulations, Enterprise- Professor." When they went out to play together before, Hermione quickly became a close friend with Enterprise under Enterprise's conscious attempts to get closer, so after seeing Enterprise, Hermione immediately pulled Hugo forward to greet her. "I really didn't expect you to come to Hogwarts to be a professor."
"This is also thanks to you." Enterprise said after walking to a less crowded place with the Granger siblings.
"After I came to England, I didn't know what to do at first. Later, when I saw the advertisement for the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts on the Daily Prophet, I thought of you being here, so I applied for the job."
"However, I was a little late when I came, and that Lockhart had already become a professor at the school." Enterprise shrugged and said, "But when I expressed my hope to find a job at the school, the headmaster, who had carefully looked at my resume, still gave me this job."
"Sounds pretty good." Hugo nodded and said. At least in the British magical world, teaching at Hogwarts was a very good thing.
"It is indeed very good, because this job doesn't require much work. Besides patrolling every night and checking the defenses of Hogwarts Castle, I only need to help Professor McGonagall prepare lessons or teach a few classes for her when she is busy, and I can enjoy the same treatment as other professors." Speaking of her new job, Enterprise seemed very happy.
Of course, what she didn't say was that the happiest thing for her was to have the opportunity to be in close contact with her Admiral. At least for the ship girls, this should be the most gratifying thing for them.
"By the way, my office is in an empty classroom on the west side of the fourth floor of the castle. There is now a copper plate with my name on the door." At the end of the chat, Enterprise said to them when the students were about to leave. "You can come there to find me when you have time."
