The Admiral of Hogwarts
#260 - Snape's Class and Broomstick
"Why did Peter disappear at this time?" On the way back to the common room after finishing his homework, Hugo asked Enterprise and the others through the Admiral Network.
"Maybe Sirius Black scared him by slashing the Gryffindor common room door with a knife on Halloween night," Enterprise said after thinking for a moment. "It's normal for the other party to run away ahead of schedule."
"Yes, but it's much more difficult to find him now," Hugo sighed. "After all, it's too difficult to find a rat in such a large castle."
Looking at the suddenly increased destiny points, Hugo really couldn't be happy at all. Although he knew that it was normal for Peter to be timid and for such a change to occur, it clearly affected the next step of the plan.
On the day of the almost full moon, there was a Defense Against the Dark Arts class for Ravenclaw, so when Hugo and the others walked into the classroom, they found Professor Snape standing on the podium.
"Your Professor Lupin did not leave any records about teaching, so I need to know what exactly you have learned this semester." After the class bell rang, Snape's first sentence was a subtle jab at Lupin.
"Miss Granger, please briefly explain what you have learned in class before." After scanning the classroom with a slightly dangerous gaze, Snape pointed to Hermione, who was the first to raise her hand.
"Sir, we have learned about Boggarts, Red Caps, Kappas, and Grindylows," Hermione stood up and said quickly, "We were just about to start learning some more dangerous—"
"Alright, sit down." Perhaps because Hermione was in Ravenclaw, Snape's attitude towards Hermione was much better than in the original text, but he would not let Lupin off the hook.
"We can see from this list that your Professor Lupin's teaching completely lacks organization and his demands on you are too low. At least I think first-year students should be able to deal with Red Caps and Grindylows, so today we are going to learn—"
Professor Snape quickly flipped through the textbook on the podium, while the Ravenclaw students below exchanged glances. To be fair, Lupin's teaching level was very good.
It's just that Ravenclaw students are not as impulsive as Gryffindor, so no one stood up to question Snape's words now.
Soon, Snape flipped to the last chapter of the textbook, then the corners of his mouth curled up slightly, revealing a sneer, and said, "Today's topic is—werewolves."
In an instant, both the Ravenclaw students and the Slytherin students showed surprised expressions. Snape's words when he entered the classroom made everyone realize that he would definitely not follow Lupin's teaching progress, but no one could have imagined that he could jump so far in progress.
"Now turn your textbooks to page 394." Snape frowned when he found that few people were moving, and then raised his voice. "All of you! Move now!"
"Don't take your personal grudges out on the students," Hermione said softly in a voice that only Hugo next to her could hear. But having said that, she still turned to the last page of the textbook like the other students and wisely remained silent.
"Very good." After everyone turned to the last page of the textbook according to his request, Snape showed a smile that was uglier than crying, and then asked, "Alright, now tell me how to distinguish between a werewolf and a real wolf?"
Seeing only seven or eight Ravenclaws raise their hands, Snape first glared at the Slytherins with a displeased expression, and then pointed to Veneto and said, You answer this question.
"There are several differences between werewolves and real wolves. The snout of a werewolf—" As Veneto had already memorized all these books, she quickly stood up and answered the differences between the two one by one.
"Correct, five points to Ravenclaw." After hearing Veneto's standard answer, Snape reluctantly added points to Veneto, and then asked, "Then how do you kill a werewolf?"
"Just find a stone larger than a fist or turn something at hand into a long metal stick and fight it in close combat," Veneto replied subconsciously.
A burst of laughter immediately came from the classroom. Everyone present remembered how Veneto killed a giant troll in close combat when she was in the first grade.
Compared to the offensive magic that third-year students have mastered, which is obviously insufficient, everyone thinks that Veneto with an iron rod is probably more dangerous than a werewolf.
"Sit down, Miss Veneto!" After taking two deep breaths, Snape returned to his cold tone and said, "In my class, I need to teach you precise, operable knowledge, not some irreproducible individual cases."
So in the following time, everyone sat quietly in their seats, taking notes on werewolves according to the textbook, while Snape walked back and forth between the desks, checking the studies they had completed during Professor Lupin's teaching.
Of course, Snape did not stop talking during this process, but kept picking on the knowledge that Lupin had taught before. At the same time, he devalued the knowledge that Lupin had previously imparted.
Almost all the students in the classroom could see that Professor Snape should have some personal grudges with Lupin, so many students from wizarding families thought about going back and asking their parents what happened back then.
In the oppressive atmosphere, the class bell finally rang, but Snape did not let everyone leave as usual.
"Everyone write an essay for me on how to identify and kill werewolves. I require you to fill two rolls of parchment on this topic and hand it in on Monday morning. Frankly speaking, I didn't expect you to be so behind in this class, so I'm going to suggest to the headmaster that someone should take good care of this class—"
"Personal grudges are personal grudges, but it's too bad to bring this kind of emotion into the classroom," Hermione said worriedly after class. "I really hope Professor Lupin can come back soon."
Just as everyone walked into the common room complaining, they suddenly found that everyone in the common room was gathered around the coffee table, wondering what they were looking at.
"What happened?" Looking at Marietta and Cho Chang standing on the periphery of the crowd, Hugo stepped forward and asked.
"Ah, you're here!" Turning her head and seeing Hugo and the others, Cho Chang became excited all of a sudden. Then she said to Veneto, "Veneto, someone sent you a broom."
"A broom?" Veneto walked to the front along the gap in the crowd in a daze, and saw a beautiful mahogany box with silver edges inlaid on all eight corners on the table, with the words Nimbus 3 Racing Broom (Trial Production Version) written on it.
"This should be a gift from my sister's friend. She is an American wizard and an alchemist. Recently, she said she wanted to create a new broom brand, so it seems that a sample has been made."
After tearing open the envelope that came with the package, Hugo realized that the letter was written from Massachusetts. The content above was also very simple, just knowing that a friend's sister was a member of the school's Quidditch team, so she specially sent a new broom for her to test.
