The Admiral of Hogwarts
#459 - treat
"Sizzle—" The moment the potion touched Mr. Weasley's wound, a sound like water droplets on a red-hot iron plate emanated from his arm.
Everyone present was astonished to see that the seemingly normal blood oozing from the cracked wound began to emit plumes of black smoke upon contact with the potion.
Seeing this, a healer immediately raised his wand and cast a transparent bubble, like a soap bubble, in an attempt to collect the black mist.
Oddly, although the mist appeared fragile, the healer tried several spells but couldn't gather the black vapor.
"This is a manifestation of soul contamination," just as the healers were about to call for help, they saw the black mist suddenly coalesce and enter a clear crystal in Hugo's hand.
"Although this looks like mist, it's actually a special kind of soul made tangible in reality," Hugo explained softly, seeing everyone looking at him.
"When they leave their host, they will quickly disappear completely, so you don't need to worry about these toxins spreading in the air and causing any danger nearby."
With the troublesome black mist resolved, everyone refocused on the treatment. Initially, Mr. Weasley felt discomfort, but his furrowed brow gradually relaxed.
"Healer, how is my husband doing now?" After the treatment and examination were complete, Mrs. Weasley asked the healer.
"At least for now, this potion is very effective," the eldest of the three healers smiled and nodded to Mrs. Weasley. "Professor Snape is indeed a potions master."
"That's good, that's good." Hearing the healer's words, Mrs. Weasley relaxed. Although Mr. Weasley was no longer in mortal danger after the initial rescue, an unhealing wound was still a concern.
Next was the observation period. Because this was a bit boring, Mrs. Weasley decided to stay and let Hermione and Hugo explore freely, returning in an hour.
"I feel like there's a Ship Girl in this building," Hermione said to Hugo as soon as they left the ward. At the same time, Hugo sensed a Ship Girl on the floor above them.
So they quickly ran up the stairs, through door after door, and amidst the groans of patients, arrived on the fifth floor of the hospital.
"Illustrious, what are you doing here?" Just as they reached the fifth floor, a girl with long, pale golden hair emerged from the tea room. Hugo and Hermione immediately recognized her.
"I'm currently carrying out a mission between the Order of the Phoenix and the Mutual Aid Society," Illustrious said softly, lowering her voice. "We will be taking the Longbottoms to the West Balkan Federation for treatment."
"The Longbottoms, what's their relationship with Neville Longbottom?" Hearing this, Hermione asked curiously.
"They are Neville Longbottom's parents, former Aurors and members of the Order of the Phoenix," Hugo explained to his sister in a low voice.
"After Voldemort's first death, a group of Death Eater remnants, led by Bellatrix, ambushed them, hoping to learn Voldemort's whereabouts from them."
"During the interrogation, these Death Eaters used a large number of Cruciatus Curses. Although the Longbottoms were eventually rescued, their souls were damaged, leading to their current madness," Illustrious added.
"We now have a treatment plan for those with damaged souls, which has been validated on several volunteers. At Headmaster Dumbledore's request, we will attempt to treat the Longbottoms."
"What's the success rate of the treatment?" Hugo asked curiously. Although the Ship Girls possessed unprecedented power, most of it was related to combat and purification, with little advantage in healing.
"It depends on your definition of success. If you mean restoring them to their original state, I can only say the probability is zero," Illustrious replied seriously.
"But if it means regaining part of themselves, being able to live and work like normal people, we are at least 80% confident in achieving that."
"This is mainly because their souls have been damaged for too long, and the soul is different from other things. It can be said to be very fragile, so the focus of the restoration must be on stability."
"Just better than now is fine, don't put too much pressure on yourselves," Hugo said earnestly to Illustrious. "At least in this area, I believe you should have your own ideas. So just do what you think is best, don't think too much."
"Bang—" Just as they were talking, a door suddenly opened. A man in a hospital gown rushed out and ran straight towards them.
Seeing this, Illustrious immediately stepped forward and grabbed him, pinning him against the wall by the neck. Although the seemingly strong middle-aged man struggled fiercely, he couldn't break free from Illustrious's grip.
"What's going on?" Hugo and Hermione were a little stunned by the sudden attack, but soon a middle-aged healer with a gold and silver filigree wreath on her head hurried over, her face anxious.
"Oh, Mr. Bode, why did you suddenly run out?" She looked at Illustrious and said, "Thank goodness for your help. He didn't hurt anyone, including himself, and was caught. Otherwise, it would be troublesome if he ran somewhere else."
"It's nothing, just a small favor," Illustrious said with a smile, then twisted the man's hands behind his back and said, "What should be done with him now?"
"Please come with me!" The healer nodded and said, "This patient lives in a closed ward. He must have slipped out while I went in to get medicine. That door is usually locked—he's not dangerous! He just occasionally can't control himself."
"Of course, thanks to you as well. Because magic isn't allowed in the corridors here, and for me, it wouldn't be easy to pull this person back into the ward without magic."
The healer walked to the ward door, opened it with an unlocking charm, and pressed the patient onto a chair. "This is our long-term ward. The patients have suffered permanent magical damage."
"Of course, with enhanced treatment and a little luck, their condition can improve. For example, Mr. Bode has made great progress recently, and his speaking ability has recovered well, although we can't understand what he's saying. But he's the most likely to recover in this ward."
"That should be the case, because this person's soul is the most intact in the entire room," Illustrious muttered softly at this time, then inquired about the transfer of the Longbottoms.
Because they controlled the Ministry of Magic in the West Balkan Federation, handling certain matters was obviously much simpler. For example, this transfer was carried out as a formal government-to-government handover with documents issued by the West Balkan Magical Treatment Institute.
