The Admiral of Hogwarts
#467 - comminicate
On the way to the restaurant, the two passed by the famous Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop, renowned amongst the Hogwarts students. Contrary to its reputation, the tea shop was quite small.
The fire in the room was burning brightly. So, as they passed by the door, they could see through the window that it was a bit steamy inside, making everything look hazy.
However, from these blurry images, one could tell that the entire tea shop was decorated in a cute style, with ruffles or bows on everything in sight.
Moreover, because today was Valentine's Day, the tea shop had special Valentine's Day decorations: golden cherubs were flying above each small round table, occasionally scattering pink confetti on the people below.
Naturally, Hugo also saw a familiar face through the window: Cedric, dressed in formal robes, was telling Madam Puddifoot, a plump woman with a shiny black bun, what drinks he needed, while Cho Chang was sitting across from him, gazing at him adoringly.
Unlike the somewhat overly realistic Percy, Cedric was definitely a good man, so even after entering the Ministry of Magic, he did not end his student romance, writing Cho Chang two to three letters a week on average.
So, on this Valentine's Day, he naturally took a leave of absence and came to Hogsmeade to meet his girlfriend. Judging from the expression on Cho Chang's face, she was very satisfied with her boyfriend's Valentine's Day gift.
When Hugo arrived at the entrance of the restaurant, he was surprised to find a 'Closed' sign hanging on the door. Obviously, for everyone to get together, the ship girls simply cleared the place out.
"Everyone has prepared a lot of good things for today, and there are also some unexpected guests," Hermione said as she pushed open the door. As soon as they entered, Hugo saw Lupin and Tonks sitting at the table, chatting.
"Professor Lupin, Tonks, it's good to see you," Hugo and Hermione greeted simultaneously when they saw them turn their heads towards the door after hearing the bell above it ring.
It was at this moment that Hugo and the others noticed that Tonks had taken the initiative to hold Lupin's hand. It seemed that although many things had changed, some fates were unbreakable.
It was even possible that because Professor Lupin now had a stable and honorable job on the moon, and had become the leader of the werewolves under the command of these ship girls, he was able to face this relationship with a more positive attitude.
Besides Lupin and Tonks, there were several other couples here. Hugo roughly recognized that these people should all be staff working at the lunar base and the small shipyard in lunar orbit.
"Today, Remus gave couples a day off and gave them vouchers for the restaurant, so we came over," Tonks said, hooking her arm around Lupin's.
"It seems this benefit is quite popular." After looking at the people eating around them, Hugo nodded and then asked, "By the way, Professor, you said before that you were planning to do some work for the Headmaster, is that true?"
"Yes, I have taken on the job of contacting the werewolves," Lupin said with a smile. "After I submitted the report, it was approved from above, because it is a good thing for everyone."
"On the one hand, I can prevent those desperate werewolves from joining the Dark Lord out of desperation, which is equivalent to weakening the power of the dark wizards and indirectly strengthening our power."
"On the other hand, most of those werewolves were victims to begin with, so I think that if we have the ability, we should give them a chance to live a normal life."
"You're right." Hugo nodded. "I think the most important way to stop werewolves from siding with the Dark Lord is to provide them with normal jobs so they can support themselves, and more importantly, give them dignity as human beings."
"Otherwise, hungry, cold, and discriminated against, werewolves will inevitably follow the Dark Lord, who can promise them a normal life, if they cannot find any other way out."
"Especially now that the policies regarding werewolves drafted by Umbridge are so stupid, I think she is contributing more to the Dark Lord in the Ministry of Magic than a dozen Death Eaters."
"You're right." Lupin nodded in agreement. "Honestly, not all werewolves are evil. In fact, most werewolves are just like ordinary people, hoping to live a peaceful and ordinary life."
"Unfortunately, the anti-werewolf law drafted by Umbridge two years ago forced them to take risks. In addition, there are also laws against wizards of non-pure human blood and various laws excluding intelligent magical creatures."
"So it's understandable that the Dark Lord has so many allies." Hugo shrugged. "Although the Dark Lord's side also looks down on non-human beings, it's at least better than directly and blatantly enacting discriminatory policies."
Voldemort's side, which represents pure-bloods, looks down on even half-blood wizards, let alone these magical creatures that are considered dirty. For example, Fenrir Greyback has never received that mark.
But the dark wizards have always followed the law of the strong being respected, and that might makes right, so as a powerful werewolf, at least he can find a place for himself there.
And this is also an important reason why Hugo was willing to accept werewolves before. Compared with werewolves, Muggle-born wizards, although not as severely discriminated against, are also standing on the same front.
Therefore, when facing the same enemies and the same difficulties, Muggle-born wizards and werewolves, as well as these intelligent creatures with common demands, naturally have the basis to unite together.
Especially after Hugo and the others solved the problem of werewolves being uncontrollable and contagious during the full moon, the werewolves quickly got along well with other humans.
"Actually, the recruitment work has been much easier recently than I imagined, at least easier than in the last war." Realizing that the topic was becoming depressing, Lupin quickly changed the subject.
"The work we did before was effective. As we accommodate more and more werewolves, other werewolves are more easily persuaded by those real-world examples."
"Especially a few days ago, I just told a werewolf that I was from the Mutual Aid Society, and before I had time to start persuading him, the werewolf took the initiative to express his willingness to join us."
"Later I learned that this werewolf was actually in contact with many people, so he had already planned to join. So when I went to ask, it just happened to be that the other party found an organization."
"Yes, that is indeed good news." Hugo nodded seriously. "As long as a werewolf obtains a stable job and equal status, then they will not choose to support the Dark Lord."
For this reason, the secret base that Hugo and the others set up in the Ural region has recently had werewolves going there one after another, and after completing their training, they go to the lunar base.
Of course, Hugo and the others have also caught a few werewolves belonging to Voldemort's side among this group of people. They will deal with these people depending on the situation.
They will try to reform most of them and then subject them to labor reform. But for those who have blood on their hands or deliberately spread the werewolf curse, they will be executed directly after extracting information.
