The Ancient Genes

Scarlet Mansion, Ocien.

"Things have become worse in the past few days.." Naze muttered with a calm look on his face as he looked at Max sitting on the couch with a gloomy face.

"I know.." Max nodded, and then sighed.

The news of Rihanna's disappearance had obviously spread among their people, and it had a bad impact on them. Secondly, things have become dire on the Ancient Families side as well.

It had gone bad to the point that the war which was supposed to start in a few years, might erupt any time with one more serious incident like this. August's brother had been captured earlier, and now it was Rihanna.

Max had heard that the South-West Orena was the battlefield for humans and Demons. The South-West was actually closed for everyone, and only the Association had control over it. At least that was what Max thought until now, but the truth was that it was in control of Ancient Families, and served as the place for both younger generations of Ancient Families and Demon World to temper themselves.

But, with Leo Von's disappearance, it had changed. The Von Family had sent experts and then the slaughter began with both sides sending people from the old generation. It was still few in numbers, but now, Leviathan's were apparently about to make a move as well.

If they slaughtered the entire younger generations of the Demon World in the battlefield, then the war would surely erupt right now. There was no doubt about it in Max's mind.

'I don't know if the war will erupt now or not. But, the chances are high. We need to take Ocien under our control before that happens,' Max muttered inwardly.

"Hmmn?" Max suddenly frowned when he picked a message through his transmitter, and the next second, his face changed.

The message that he had received was not something positive after all. With Rihanna's disappearance, the Ancient Families were going to dispatch a group of experts with a senior generation in lead to thoroughly investigate the case.

But, now for some reason, there seemed to be some change in the plans. And, it seemed that they had received some other urgent message, and this made them head towards Ishtar instead.

'Did something happen there?' Max frowned. He hadn't received any such news until now. He hurriedly tried to contact people in Ishtar.

Lisa replied to him. But, she didn't seem to have much idea about the situation as well. Max only found out that an explosion had occurred during the fight in competition, and it seemed to have riled a lot of people up. She definitely conveyed the message that something might have happened.

Max on the other hand frowned. It was now that he understood why the Broadcast had been stopped, it wasn't some technical problem.

<<Is everything fine there, August?>> He tried to contact the guy who was there within the competition ground. But, alas, there was no reply from him. This only made Max more tense.

'Let's hope nothing bad happens..' Max couldn't do anything from Ocien, not to mention, he couldn't leave as well. But, he felt that August was someone reliable, and he would definitely be able to handle any situation thrown at him.

A little later, Max left the Scarlet Mansion and headed for the meeting which was scheduled today.

The last few days have been very bad for everyone. And, as the leader of the team, he had to see that things would not go down in wrong way. He had to get them up and working. Other guys too understood this, and had been trying to do their best. But, Synthia was lost. It was as if someone had taken her soul out.

There had not been much progress in their search for Dark Society as well. The Demons and the people of the Dark Society were still in hiding. And, to be honest, it was not much of a deal, Max had already located their presence once.

The Old man Sun had after all searched the city all over for Rihanna once. There was no way that anyone or anything could stay hidden in front of him unless it transcended his level as well. And, of course there were not many things in the world like that.

The only reason that Max hadn't deployed his forces to destroy the place of their hidings was because of the fact that there was an Ascensionist from Demon World present in Ocien. If that person stepped in, then it would be their death.

There was Old man Sun to help. But, Max didn't want to use his promise that easily. Not to mention, could the city afford a full blown battle between two Ascensionist?

There was no way for that to be possible.

They needed help to deal with this situation, and Max had been counting on this group which was coming to investigate Rihanna's disappearance. After all, they had reported about a suspected appearance of a person beyond Supreme Tier in Ocien, and his likely relation to Rihanna's disappearance.

Max was hoping to get these people to help him either by hook or crook. But, now he had felt another blow.

'Is there no other option? Do I need to approach the Crimsons..' Max didn't want to do it. But, he had spend too much time in Ocien without any progress. It seemed he would have to force them to show up.

Crimson Dimension, Ocien.

"What are you here for, kid?" A little old looking lady asked as she glanced at the Old man Sun standing in front of her.

Old man Sun's face twitched on hearing that, but he could only keep his mouth shut in front of the two old ladies. These two were the Patriarch of the Crimson House, and her Sister who was often referred to as the Second Patriarch.

"Didn't I tell you not to come here?" The Patriarch asked him with a frown on her face. Ever since Old Man Sun's true identity was revealed in the outer world, she had asked him not to get into contact with her like this.

"Calm down, Old Aunt..I have got my hands on something interesting. You can decide whether I did the right or wrong then.." He said with a smile, and then next second waved his hand as an object appeared in front of them in thin air.
