#198 - Reconciliation
"Hello, Spider-Man."
Yang Le walked up to the Peter Parker of the main universe and greeted him.
"You are?" Main Universe Peter frowned.
"To save time, I'll make it brief," Yang Le said.
"We're from other universes. There's a crisis targeting Spider-Men across the multiverse, and we need your help."
"Wait, a multiverse crisis!" Kamala, who was nearby, couldn't contain herself and exclaimed excitedly before Main Universe Peter could say anything.
"I know I shouldn't be happy, but this is the first time I've encountered an event of this scale."
"But this has nothing to do with you," Yang Le said, pouring cold water on Kamala's excitement.
"Go home, kid. This battle isn't something you should be involved in."
"But..." Kamala wanted to argue, but Peter interrupted her.
"He's right, kid," Peter said.
"It's too early for you to be involved in all this."
"But I just helped you solve a crisis," Kamala argued, spreading her hands out.
Although Kamala provided little help, Peter wouldn't have been able to catch up with the truck so easily without her, so Peter really couldn't refute.
But that's just Peter being kind. If it were another hero, they probably would have ignored Kamala's contribution altogether.
Just as Peter was wondering how to refute, the huge egg suddenly stirred.
It began to shake, contracting and expanding, looking like an alien creature was about to hatch.
Everyone stood ready, after all, no one knew what was inside. What if a monster really hatched?
With a 'splurt' sound, the green eggshell burst open, turning into liquid that splattered everywhere, followed by a loud cry.
Everyone looked and realized it wasn't a monster at all. It was clearly a newborn baby, lying in the thick green mucus, wailing.
"Oh my god!" Gwen's eyes widened, and she quickly walked to the baby, gently picking it up, ignoring the disgusting mucus.
"Good baby, good baby," Gwen gently scraped the mucus off the baby and coaxed it in a gentle voice, but the baby still cried incessantly.
"Let me do it," George approached Gwen.
"After all, I'm the only one here who has raised children."
"I know you're great, super dad," Gwen joked, handing the baby to George at the same time.
George took the baby and waved to Kamala.
"Come here, kid."
"Me?" Kamala pointed to herself. Seeing George nod, she stretched her legs and took a step to George's side.
"What? Do you want me to make a scary face to make him laugh?" Kamala used her ability to create a very funny face.
"I'm not bragging, my scary face technique is unmatched."
"Indeed, not bad, kid," George praised with a smile.
"But I need something else insignificant."
George pointed to Kamala's scarf, its meaning self-evident.
Kamala looked at the naked baby and immediately understood George's meaning, reluctantly taking off her scarf and handing it to him. Don't get me wrong, Kamala wasn't feeling sorry for her scarf; she was just disappointed that her scary face had no opportunity to be used.
George comforted Kamala with a few words, gently wrapped the scarf around the baby, and after a while of soothing, the baby stopped crying and fell into a deep sleep.
"He looks so cute," Kamala said with a smile.
"We should send him back to his parents."
"Before that, let me examine him," Yang Le walked over at some point.
Yang Le manipulated the Omnitrix on his chest with his pincer hand, and a beam of light shot out from it, scanning the baby in George's hands.
Sure enough, this baby had also been modified, and the degree of modification wasn't low. When he grew up, he would be another superhuman.
In order not to cause trouble for this family, Yang Le conveniently activated the DNA repair function, turning the baby back into an ordinary human.
"A future superhero has disappeared," Gwen joked.
"There's nothing wrong with being an ordinary child," George said, but the strange tone made it sound like he was talking about more than just the baby in his arms.
Gwen certainly understood, but she just shrugged and didn't respond. Seeing this, George could only shake his head helplessly.
"Alright, he's as healthy as can be now," Yang Le said after the restoration, restoring the Omnitrix.
"Now we just need to find someone to send the child back to his parents."
The newest novels are first released on Liu Jiu Shu Ba!
"Indeed," Kamala nodded, but found everyone was looking at her.
"Me?" Kamala pointed to herself.
"Of course, we're all from other universes and don't understand this world. Naturally, you're the only one who can do it."
"But there's still Spider..." Kamala turned around but found that there was no Spider-Man. Minerva, who was wrapped like a dumpling, had also disappeared.
"Spider-Man is escorting the bad guy to Avengers headquarters," Yang Le said with a smile. This was actually his intention. He had taken advantage of Kamala's departure to have Peter take Minerva away first, and then meet at the agreed location after everything was over, saving him the trouble of arguing with Kamala.
"Looks like you're indeed the most suitable candidate."
"Okay," Kamala's face was wrinkled, but she still took the baby.
"I'll go back to the hospital where we started and look for them."
"Good luck," Yang Le waved goodbye to Kamala, who just returned a scary face.
Finally, the trouble was resolved, and Yang Le and the others left the city and arrived at the agreed location, the open space where they had landed when they crossed over.
This place is far from the city and not easily discovered, making it a good place to talk.
Yang Le, who had returned to human form, and Gwen leaned together. Because George was still nearby, they didn't engage in any lovey-dovey scenes. After all, doing those things wasn't in Gwen's character.
Moreover, although Yang Le had been kicked, he was still a little guilty towards Gwen. Fortunately, Gwen hadn't walked away when he sat down, otherwise, he would have been uncomfortable.
Gwen removed her mask, and Yang Le finally saw her long-lost beautiful face. Yang Le was surprised to find that Gwen had dyed the ends of her hair. That bright and lovely pink color gave Gwen a bit of playfulness.
Gwen adjusted the viscosity of her spider silk and made a hair tie, tying up her long hair. She glanced at Yang Le, who had been watching her, and couldn't help but ask strangely.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing," Yang Le touched his nose.
"Hmph!" Gwen raised her neck and snorted arrogantly.
"Don't worry, I said the past is the past, and I also know your starting point was good, but you have to remember there won't be a next time. If something happens next time, you must discuss it with me, understand?"
Yang Le looked into Gwen's eyes, which contained a threat and a hint of pleading.
Faced with such Gwen, Yang Le could only nod.
