#256 - The Magical Uses of Swamp Fire
Before the crowd could press for the true meaning of 'Child of Tomorrow,' they noticed numerous black dots, about the size of sesame seeds, emerging from the mothership and heading towards them at a steady pace.
The black dots moved quickly, soon flying into the crowd's visible range, where they were revealed to be dozens of humans clad in battle suits identical to the 42 Miles standard issue.
"Lay down your weapons and surrender," the leading man said, floating in mid-air. "The great Creator wants the device on your wrist, so hand it over quickly."
This was clearly directed at Yang Le, as Cranium Dread wouldn't travel all this way just for Spider-Man's web-shooters.
But putting aside the fact that Yang Le would never give it to him, he strongly disliked the attitude of this Child of Tomorrow before him.
Yang Le simply replied indifferently, "Get lost!"
"Communication failed, prepare for combat!" The Child of Tomorrow showed no extra emotion, believing that action spoke louder than words, and a gun was more useful than arguing.
"You call that communication?" 616B Peter said, utterly shocked.
"In short, we still have to fight." Spider-Ham struck a boxing pose, bobbing his head. "Come on, let's show these foul-mouthed kids what we're made of."
The Spider-Men immediately took battle stances, ready to fight the Children of Tomorrow, but Yang Le stopped them.
"You guys go evacuate the crowd, I'll handle these guys."
"Are you kidding me, bro? You want to take on these guys alone?" Spider-Ham rolled his eyes.
"These guys are no ordinary folks; the Miles lying on the ground isn't even worthy to carry their shoes," Yang Le said without turning back. "Besides, these guys don't care about the lives of civilians, so you need to protect them."
"Okay, you're the boss, we'll listen to you." Spider-Ham shrugged helplessly and shot a web, swinging towards the crowd.
The other Spider-Men also subtly understood Yang Le's meaning, knowing their strength might not be enough to participate in the upcoming battle, so they didn't hesitate and turned to leave.
"Be careful," Gwen warned before turning to leave as well.
The Children of Tomorrow wouldn't simply let the Spider-Men leave, especially Gwen. The leading Child of Tomorrow saw that her relationship with Yang Le must be extraordinary, so he raised his arm and shot a beam of energy straight at Gwen.
Eliminating people closely related to the enemy can cause the enemy's emotions to spiral, their thinking to become chaotic, leading to a drop in combat power. An irrational enemy is definitely easier to deal with than a normal one. This was something he learned through many battles.
Even Thor, the God of Thunder, would have his attacks become disorganized after losing his mind, allowing them to take him down almost without bloodshed, so the Child of Tomorrow adopted this strategy again when facing Yang Le.
Unfortunately, he wasn't facing Thor.
The energy beam had just flown into mid-air when it was hit by a white beam of light. To the Child of Tomorrow's surprise, the two energies colliding didn't cause an explosion or neutralization. Instead, the white beam directly covered his energy beam, and when the white beam disappeared, his energy beam vanished without a trace.
"What is this?" another Child of Tomorrow wondered.
"This is time," Yang Le said with a grim face. "Nothing can escape the passage of time."
"Careful, we're dealing with an enemy who can manipulate time," the leader quickly reminded the other members of the squad, and uploaded information about Yang Le's abilities to the mothership in the sky.
"Thank you for the kind explanation, the omnipotent Creator will soon think of a way to defeat you." The leader revealed a playful expression, preparing to use words to attack Yang Le this time.
The Children of Tomorrow were super-gene soldiers cultivated by Cranium Dread. They weren't afraid of death; they only cared about completing their mission.
"Is that so?" Yang Le didn't care. "In that case, why not let him think of more ways."
'What do you mean?' Before the Children of Tomorrow could understand Yang Le's meaning, Yang Le disappeared in the next moment. With the help of Cranium Dread's high-tech armor, they couldn't figure out how Yang Le disappeared, or even where he had gone.
Until a scream rang out.
"Ah!"
As soon as they heard the scream, the Children of Tomorrow reacted. With gene modification and the assistance of high-tech armor, their reflexes were even second only to speedsters. They immediately realized their companion might have been attacked by Yang Le, and they all raised their weapons, preparing to riddle the attacked companion and Yang Le with bullets.
But when they shifted their gaze, they found that instead of Clockwork's large, fat body, there was a humanoid creature with blue armor and fluff, with huge moth-like wings.
That humanoid creature was piercing his body through their companion's body, but not a drop of blood flowed out, as if the two were not on the same layer. The companion who was pierced turned into an ice sculpture with a look of horror.
Without an order, the Children of Tomorrow opened fire in unison. This kind of thing couldn't scare them, but their barrage only resulted in the ice sculpture turning into dust. Whether it was solid ammunition or energy beams, they all passed through Yang Le's body without being able to harm him in the slightest.
"How is this possible!" another Child of Tomorrow exclaimed.
Yang Le ignored the hail of bullets and flew rapidly towards another enemy. That Child of Tomorrow was also fearless. With a flick of his arm, a blade was ejected from his arm armor.
'If ranged attacks don't work, try melee!' With this thought, the Child of Tomorrow flew towards Yang Le instead. Just like before, the Children of Tomorrow were not afraid of death. They believed that even if they died, they should die with value, so in order for the great Creator to see Yang Le's abilities, she was willing to become a guinea pig for trial and error.
Yang Le's mouth curled up slightly, and the Omnitrix activated again. In the blink of an eye, Yang Le turned into Swampfire, colliding with that Child of Tomorrow.
"Die!" The Child of Tomorrow didn't care what Yang Le turned into. He raised his hand and stabbed Swampfire's body with a sword, then swung it hard, cutting Swampfire in half.
Yang Le, who had lost his lower body, grabbed the Child of Tomorrow's shoulders tightly with both hands, hanging on her. When the Child of Tomorrow wanted to drive him away, he took the lead and inserted his hand into the Child of Tomorrow's mouth.
"Ogh!" The Child of Tomorrow let out an unclear retching sound. She felt something the size of an egg burrowing into her body along her throat.
After doing all this, Yang Le let go of the Child of Tomorrow, relying on his ability to learn from DC's Swamp Thing, growing plant wings on his back and leaving the Child of Tomorrow.
Seeing Yang Le leave, the Child of Tomorrow immediately wanted to pursue, but a piercing pain immediately came from her limbs, making her unable to help but scream.
Ignoring the attacks of the other Children of Tomorrow, Yang Le silently watched the changes in this test subject.
Another Child of Tomorrow quickly approached her, wanting to see what his companion had experienced so that he could report to the Creator.
Suddenly, a green tendril emerged from the Child of Tomorrow's eye. Before he could react, the tendril had turned into a fiery red and conspicuous flower, covering the Child of Tomorrow's entire face, completely silencing him.
'What kind of flower is this?' Carrying this question, the Child of Tomorrow who came to investigate flew a little closer, but the next moment, an unexpected change occurred.
The Child of Tomorrow with the flower growing on his face suddenly burst out, raising his arm and cutting his companion in half with a knife. The companion's face was full of astonishment, not even understanding what had happened.
Faced with this scene of fratricide, the Children of Tomorrow who were attacking Yang Le also stopped. Compared to the terrifying enemy, the betrayal of their companion was obviously more shocking to them.
"As expected, it's feasible." Yang Le, the culprit of all this, nodded in satisfaction. Everything before him confirmed his idea.
Swampfire can only control plants, so if plants are implanted into a person's body to replace human bones, can they indirectly manipulate humans?
It's just that it seems that the implanted person must be very painful, but…
What does that have to do with him.
