The Comprehensive Evolution of American Comics

#292 - A stranger suddenly appeared

"I really didn't expect this kind of thing to happen." Aquaman looked at Flash, who had become almost as thin as a stick, with lingering fear.

"What kind of attack could turn Barry into this? Is it black magic?"

"No." Batman nodded, pressed a button, and the projected image of Barry disappeared, followed by a bird's-eye view photo with two spots, one blue and one red.

"Barry accidentally fell into his opponent's rhythm while chasing him, and didn't notice his own consumption, which is why he became like this. It has nothing to do with magic."

"What about that blue shadow?" Aquaman pressed.

"It disappeared." Batman shook his head. "With our current abilities, we can't track him. If it weren't for J'onn's abilities, I wouldn't have been able to stop Barry. A few more seconds and he might have run himself to death."

Silence filled the conference room. Barry, the only one in the Justice League who might have been able to catch him, was now unable to continue. How were they going to deal with their opponent?

Just then, the conference room door opened, and Martian Manhunter and Cyborg walked in, one after the other.

"How is it?" Batman asked.

"Mr. Yang Le has lost his memory," J'onn replied. "It's real. Even I can't extract any useful information from his brain."

"You can directly read people's memories?" Aquaman looked shocked, as if he had heard something earth-shattering. Everyone except Batman also looked incredulous.

"Mr. Yang Le consented to my intrusion," J'onn explained. "He is also curious about his past. He is eager to know why that blue shadow is targeting him. Although he didn't show it, I could feel his fear."

"It's normal for anyone to feel fear in that situation," Wonder Woman nodded. "It's human nature."

Batman didn't respond, but looked at Cyborg behind J'onn, his meaning obvious.

"I did a comprehensive examination of him. His body is very strange." Cyborg's mechanical left eye flashed red, and a three-dimensional model of Yang Le appeared before everyone.

"His body is in a very strange state. His body is incomplete."

"What does that mean?" Green Lantern asked, confused.

Cyborg explained, "Yang Le's body is constantly in a state of appearing and disappearing. Many of his organs experience extremely brief disappearances. These disappearances are so short that they barely affect normal physiological activities. If I hadn't checked repeatedly, I would have thought my brain had a virus."

"It seems that's the problem," Superman sighed in relief. The worst thing isn't discovering a problem. New problems can at least be used as clues. Getting nothing is the most frustrating.

"Then it seems the answer lies in this person's peculiar physique," a faceless man in a coat sitting in the corner suddenly stood up.

"Do you have any findings? Question?" Batman asked, eager to hear the thoughts of this great detective who could rival him.

"Not many," Question stood up. "But we can reason based on the known facts. First, we know that a speedster far stronger than Flash is tracking that gentleman, and that gentleman possesses physiological characteristics different from ordinary people."

"Let's boldly assume that this gentleman's physiological characteristics are the reason he is being tracked. Then I think the blue shadow's purpose is to obtain his body."

Stealing other people's bodies was nothing new to the Justice League. Most of them were metahumans, and many supervillains had tried to take over their bodies in various ways in order to obtain their powerful abilities.

Therefore, many people in the Justice League agreed with Question's idea, but of course, there were also those who disagreed.

Batman said, "Then why didn't that shadow go after Yang Le before? According to Yang Le, today was the first time he encountered the blue shadow. And if this blue shadow is the one who has been chasing Barry all along, then why has he been chasing Barry for so long?"

While the Justice League was discussing, Yang Le, the center of the discussion, was sitting quietly in the Watchtower's guest room. Having just experienced such a series of dangers, even being in the Watchtower outside Earth couldn't give him a sense of comfort.

"What did I do before?" Yang Le scratched his head. "Why would such a terrifying thing be after me?"

Not only the Justice League, but even Yang Le himself was thinking about the reason why he was being chased by the blue shadow. In his own opinion, he was just an ordinary person, so why would a superhuman want to chase him?

'Wait!' Yang Le suddenly shuddered. He remembered a piece of information that he hadn't told the superheroes, which was that he had been having frequent nightmares for the past few months.

Yang Le stood up and quickly ran out of the guest room. He had to tell this information to the superheroes, maybe it could help them solve the mystery.

But as soon as he opened the guest room door, what appeared before him was not a wide corridor, but a white frame hanging in the air.

Yang Le hurriedly stopped his steps. Fortunately, he reacted quickly and stopped. He almost crashed into it.

Before Yang Le could figure out what this frame was, a head wearing a white hood poked out from inside, staring straight at Yang Le.

"Wow!" Yang Le was startled and shouted.

Unexpectedly, the person in the frame was not flustered, and stretched out a hand to greet Yang Le.

"Hello Yang Le! Long time no see, although I met another you a few minutes ago, but for you, 'long time no see' should be more appropriate."

The person in the frame said a lot of things that Yang Le didn't understand. What do you mean 'long time no see'? What do you mean 'met a few minutes ago'? What do you mean 'another me'? But Yang Le still caught some useful information.

That is, this person must have known him before he lost his memory, and the other party might even know the reason why he was being chased.

But before Yang Le could ask, the person in the frame spoke again.

"Sorry, although I really want to catch up with you, but our time is really limited. After all, some blue exhibitionist is still staring at me. If you ask me, he is just barking up the wrong tree. To use what you taught me, the emperor isn't worried but the eunuch is. The supreme God doesn't care, so why is an exhibitionist meddling?"
