#358 - Courtney and Wally
"For the Illuminati, for humanity."
After the slogan, the room was silent for about two or three seconds, apparently Luther wasn't the only one raising a glass in celebration.
"Next topic." The voice came from the leftmost screen. Vandal Savage picked up a document from his desk, which consisted of a mix of text and images. The images clearly showed the Ultra-Giant fighting animals, plants, minerals, and humans.
Moreover, as Savage continued to flip through the documents, there were images of Yang Le fighting the Taskmaster, and even photos of him interacting with the Justice League.
"This newcomer who recently debuted seems to be gaining momentum." Savage tapped his fingers on the desk. "His appearance is ever-changing. If it weren't for the Taskmaster's intelligence, I really wouldn't be able to consider them the same person."
"The difference in their appearance and abilities is too great. The only thing they have in common is this strange symbol on their body." Queen Bee said from beside Savage's screen. As she spoke, an image appeared on everyone's communicator, it was the Omnitrix symbol.
"We have collected the abilities of the forms he has currently displayed." The Brain said next to Queen Bee. "But I don't think this is all of them."
"The unknown represents variables." Ra's al Ghul held his chin with both hands. "He is likely to affect our plan."
"I think it's very interesting." The Child stroked his cat. "The more chaos, the more fun, isn't it?"
"Meow." The cat Tico purred comfortably, as if agreeing with the Child. Of course, only Tico responded to him. Although the people present were all top criminals, none of them agreed with the Child.
Unordered chaos, it is estimated that only the god of chaos in front of him would like it.
"So what do we do next?" Black Manta broke the deadlock. "Do we change the plan or lie low for a while?"
"I propose that the plan continue." Luther put down his glass. "I have no reason to be intimidated by one person, and it is impossible to stop such a long deployment."
"Agreed." "Seconded."
Everyone present agreed with Luther's proposal. They also did not think that one person could affect their plan, after all, no one knew their real goal yet.
————Dividing Line————
Wally West was sitting tremblingly in the Justice Hall's reception room. Beside him was Courtney, who was equally uneasy. Both of them were indifferent to the snacks placed on the table in front of them.
In the past, Wally would have feasted. He was originally a foodie, and he happened to gain the Speed Force, which consumed a lot of energy. This was simply a blessing for Wally, but the tension in his heart made him have no appetite at this time.
When he came, he learned from Barry that the Justice League had important things to notify him today. Wally, who was active in thinking, combined with his recent performance and pessimistically speculated that he might not be able to become a superhero in his life.
After all, a few days ago, he and Courtney, who was an ordinary person, went on a night tour of the school during confinement. Not only that, but he even exposed his identity.
Adding these two things together, no matter how optimistic Wally was, he couldn't think of anything good. He was now like a death row prisoner waiting to go to the execution ground, and every minute and every second he sat in the reception room was torture for him.
"Can you stop shaking your leg?"
Courtney's voice came, and Wally came back to his senses. He found that his right leg had been shaking into an afterimage, and quickly stopped his obvious small movements.
"Are you so scared?" Courtney asked puzzled.
"I'm okay." Wally leaned back, and his whole body slumped on the chair like a puddle of mud. "It's more like shame than fear."
"Shame?" Courtney was even more puzzled.
"I acted without authorization again." Wally stared at his fingers. "This time I might really not be able to be a hero anymore. It's nothing, but when I think of the Flash's expectations for me, I'm ashamed. He always says to me, you can do better, but I always mess things up."
"Sorry." Courtney lowered her head. She had only learned recently that Wally was in confinement, and the reason why he acted without authorization was all because of her.
"Don't worry, I can't just watch you go to that place alone." Wally waved his hand, and he felt a little relieved. The fairy Wally looked like an enlightened Buddha.
"Besides, you didn't know in advance, and I couldn't tell you. You can't blame you, Courtney. You don't have to feel guilty."
The more Wally said this, the more ashamed Courtney became. Just when the atmosphere in the room gradually became awkward, someone took the lead in breaking the awkward atmosphere.
"This matter is also not your fault, Wally."
The Flash appeared behind Wally at some point, and he put his hand on Wally's shoulder, comforting the disappointed young man.
"Forget it, I've already seen through it." Wally shook his head. "I'm sorry I didn't live up to your expectations. Announce it, I can bear it."
"You know?" There was a hint of surprise in the Flash's voice.
"Only a fool wouldn't be able to guess." Wally laughed mockingly.

"Wait a minute!" Courtney suddenly stood up, interrupting the conversation between the two.
Courtney slapped her chest hard with her right hand and said, "All the responsibility for this matter is on me. Don't cancel Wally's superhero status. I will bear all the responsibility this time."
"What can you bear?" A hoarse voice sounded, and everyone turned their attention to the direction the voice came from. Several Justice League members, led by Batman, walked in from the door. Courtney also saw a face that surprised her.
"Pat!"
Courtney's stepfather, Pat Dugan, showed a trace of embarrassment after hearing his stepdaughter call him by his full name, but it quickly dissipated and turned into a serious expression.
"Courtney Whitman." Batman's cold voice pulled Courtney's attention back.
"You used the equipment of the deceased hero, Starman, without authorization. I am now going to take back his equipment. Hand it over."
Courtney was startled by Batman's gaze, subconsciously took a step back, and covered her purse with both hands.
"It seems you are unwilling." Batman's gaze became even colder, and Courtney felt as if she was in an ice cave at this time.
"I found it." Although Courtney was afraid, she still protested in a low voice.
"Then it seems we have to use another plan." Green Arrow said seriously.
