#492 - Yang Le is still on his way
The destruction caused by the giant could only be described as a natural disaster.
An entire block was turned into ruins, and the reason was merely a clap of the giant's hands. If it were in the past, Reed would have thought someone was playing a joke on him, but now it was happening right before his eyes.
Reed was incredibly grateful that the group, who were possibly mercenaries or superheroes, hadn't launched their attack in their block.
If viewed from above, Reed's street and the ruined one formed an L shape, with Reed and his group at one end, Thompson and his at the other, and Robert, transformed into a giant, at the corner.
However, although they didn't suffer a direct attack, Reed's block was affected due to its proximity. Some buildings developed cracks, and the car Reed and Susan were hiding in flipped over.
Fortunately, he and Susan only suffered minor scratches, but the car, which they had finally found and just managed to start, was obviously unusable.
Reed couldn't help but feel annoyed. Was he cursed? Every vehicle he touched today either ran out of gas or broke down.
Reed calmed himself. Now was not the time to think about probability problems. They had to escape quickly. The giant who transformed later was much more powerful than the one they encountered before.
At Reed's signal, Susan tiptoed out of the overturned car, then crouched at the door and pulled Reed out. They didn't act rashly, tacitly choosing to wait behind cover.
'We need to find Ben and Johnny,' Susan signed to Reed.
"I know," Reed responded. Ben and Johnny had also fled into this street when they were being chased. If they were lucky, the two of them should still be alive.
But after seeing the giant's destructive power, Reed thought the possibility was very small. However, for the sake of his best friend and brother-in-law, Reed was willing to bet on that small chance.
But the key question now was, how were they going to find those two? That giant was standing near the street entrance. Being discovered by him wouldn't be good. This wasn't a horror game; there was no option to start over after failing.
So Reed had to plan before acting, first knowing the exact location of Ben and Johnny, then planning a route to take them, and then the four of them would leave this hellhole as quickly as possible.
Just as Reed was thinking of a solution, Susan took out her phone from her jacket pocket and started operating it.
Reed was puzzled and quickly signed to ask Susan what she was doing, and told her that using a phone's ringtone to find people at this time was irrational and would kill everyone.
Susan rolled her eyes at Reed and replied in sign language: 'I installed a tracker on Johnny.'
"?" Reed tilted his head, suddenly feeling that this fiancée of his was a little scary.
Actually, there was a reason why Susan installed a tracker on Johnny, but the situation was urgent and she couldn't explain it, and it was too troublesome to explain in sign language, so Susan decided to talk about it later.
Praying that the tracker wouldn't break, Susan nervously opened the self-made APP, which would display the real-time location of the tracker. Seeing the flashing green dot on the radar, Susan almost burst into tears of joy.
Susan showed the radar map to Reed, who also breathed a sigh of relief. Although he couldn't completely confirm whether the two were alive, at least he knew their location.
Reed estimated the location based on the radar map, and then quietly peeked out to observe the surrounding environment, and found that the location shown on the radar should be in the flower shop across the street.
Although the flower shop didn't have ordinary walls on both sides of the door for the convenience of displaying bouquets, but rather two floor-to-ceiling windows, and the glass of the windows had already been shattered, the bouquets and flower pots inside were lying crookedly on the ground, and coupled with the dim light of the evening, Reed couldn't see the specific situation inside the flower shop clearly.
So Reed and Susan still couldn't determine that Johnny and Ben were inside.
This meant that Reed still had to check it out, at least stand at the door of the flower shop and look inside. This action was undoubtedly dangerous with the giant wandering nearby.
Reed didn't hesitate. He first confirmed the giant's position, and after finding that he was still standing near the street entrance, he gestured to Susan to stay where she was, then crouched down and tiptoed towards the flower shop.
The reason for not letting Susan follow was because one person was a smaller target, more flexible, and not easy to be discovered. Even if the giant discovered him, it would save them from being completely wiped out.
Tiptoeing to the door of the flower shop, Reed poked his head in and was immediately overjoyed. Johnny and Ben were both inside, but both of them were lying on the ground without moving, not knowing whether they were dead or alive.
Calming himself, Reed carefully crossed various debris and walked closer to Ben, gently turning Ben's body over. To his relief, Ben didn't have any obvious external injuries.
Putting his ear to his chest to listen, his heartbeat was strong. Reed deduced from his previous performance that Ben should have fainted from exhaustion. Then Reed checked Johnny in the same way. He could only say that Ben had protected him very well, but if he didn't receive treatment, Johnny was likely to say goodbye to his leg.
Reed breathed a sigh of relief. As long as they were still alive, everything was easy to say. Even if modern medicine couldn't cure Johnny's leg, Reed was confident that he could get Johnny a prosthetic as good as the original.
Just as Reed was worrying about how to take the two away, a familiar shout suddenly rang out behind him.
"Run! Reed!"
It was Susan. Reed didn't even need to think. He knew why Susan was talking to him loudly at this time. He slowly turned his head and saw a towering figure standing at the door of the flower shop.
The giant's huge body blocked the door of the flower shop at some point. Reed couldn't find a single gap. He was completely blocked, which meant that Reed had no possibility of escape.
"Stay away from them!" Susan picked up various garbage on the ground and threw it at Robert, but her strength wasn't even enough to tickle the giant Robert.
Ignoring Susan behind him, the giant was obviously more interested in the three people inside the flower shop at this time, but judging from the ferocious expression on his head, this interest was definitely not friendly.
Looking at the huge palm grabbing towards him, Reed suddenly felt a little funny. He had imagined that he would die of old age, or die because of experimental failure, but he never thought that he would be pinched to death.
What a crazy day.
