The Comprehensive Evolution of American Comics
#508 - Mars Ghost
Ikriturians are a very peculiar species, or rather, undead beings, because their physiological state doesn't exactly qualify them as truly alive. Nor do they belong to the category of energy-based life forms, making them one of the most unique creatures in the universe.
Perhaps due to this strange physiological characteristic, Ikriturians don't require a brain in the traditional sense. Their consciousness or soul exists throughout their entire body, which allows them to regenerate from every single cell. This self-healing ability even surpasses that of Wolverine and Deadpool in Marvel.
This meant that Yang Le could be a bit rougher when dealing with Dzesk, because their mind and body are highly connected. Yang Le estimated that as long as the body recovered, the mind wouldn't collapse. So, Yang Le used a bit more force when using mental shock.
This wasn't to retaliate against Dzesk for calling him arrogant, but simply because Dzesk was too big of a target. Yang Le was afraid that a weak attack wouldn't knock him out, nothing more.
After knocking Dzesk unconscious, Yang Le once again rejoiced that he had sent a clone to the DC universe. That universe's version of himself was quite efficient, bringing him not only the Speed Force but also DNA from several powerful alien races originating from the DC universe.
Among them was Yang Le's favorite, the Kryptonians. The remaining included a goblin-like creature, Amazons, and Martians.
That's right, the Fusion Hero Yang Le was currently using was a fusion of Martian and Ikriturian DNA. Yang Le named him Martian Spectre. Despite the concise name, its origin actually comes from an old movie called 'Ghosts of Mars'.
However, the DNA Yang Le used for the fusion didn't come from Martian Manhunter J'onn J'onzz, but from another Martian hero—Miss Martian, Megan Morse.
Because the DNA source was Megan, the Martian Spectre's skin is white. This is because Megan, unlike Martian Manhunter, is a White Martian.
In terms of setting, Megan possesses even stronger mental abilities than Martian Manhunter, and Martians rely on mental abilities as the basis of their lives. Therefore, Megan's DNA is indeed the most outstanding among contemporary Martians.
Thanks to Megan's excellent genes, the Martian that Yang Le transformed into already possessed potential not inferior to Megan's, and with the fusion of Ghostfreak, it was even more powerful.
Also, because both Martians and Ikriturians have very peculiar physiological characteristics, the fused Martian Spectre also possesses many wonderful abilities, such as near-immortal regeneration and the clones Yang Le used to knock down Dzesk.
Simply put, Ikriturian + Martian = Lobo, of course, this is just a metaphor. In reality, Martian Spectre is many times stronger than Lobo.
That's right, although he hasn't experimented yet, Yang Le knew that he could definitely create nearly countless clones because every single cell of his could independently become a clone.
Yang Le had just secretly separated a cell. Dzesk obviously didn't expect such a small thing to sneak up on him, so he didn't use abilities like super vision. This allowed Yang Le to let the cell grow after listening to his long speech, and finally sneak attack him.
After knocking Dzesk unconscious, Yang Le used telepathy to pry open Dzesk's mind. He first confirmed whether everything Dzesk had said before was true, and the answer was affirmative.
Dzesk didn't lie. He did see OBA in Bruce's dream. In fact, OBA couldn't excessively influence reality for certain reasons, especially in this universe without gamma-powered monsters. There was even less that OBA could do.
If it weren't for Dzesk courting death himself by indirectly entering Bruce's dream through mental intrusion, OBA would definitely not have found him. It was his own fault.
OBA didn't promise Dzesk any benefits. It was Dzesk who fought for the chance to survive, so Dzesk was full of resentment towards OBA, truly an old hypocrite.
After hearing OBA's plan and learning about the Sentry's abilities, Dzesk secretly began his own calculations, which was to use the Sentry's power to seize the Omnitrix.
However, just like in the original story, the arrogant and prey-torturing Dzesk capsized in the gutter once again. Illogically speaking, this was the first time this Dzesk had capsized.
Dzesk, who had just emerged from a children's cartoon world, was obviously not yet accustomed to the style leaning towards adult comics. This made his eloquent speech seem a bit too naive, which gave Yang Le the opportunity to nip him in the bud.
After all, it's hard to learn to be good, but easy to learn to be bad. If Dzesk is left alone, he will definitely become more evil.
Now what Yang Le has to do is to take Dzesk out of Robert's body and let him bask in the sun, but before that, he has to create a soul or consciousness for Robert's body.
Although Dzesk said that Robert's soul was eliminated by him, Yang Le still had a way to solve it, but this method was also second-hand.
In the 'X of Swords' event, the mutants learned a special resurrection method that could revive the dead mutants. Leaving aside the resurrection of the physical body, what we are going to discuss now is another aspect—the resurrection of consciousness.
This mysterious aspect was the responsibility of Professor X. He used the fourth-generation Cerebro and his own abilities to store the consciousness of each mutant. After their bodies were resurrected, he imported their consciousness, so that he could truly resurrect a person.
What Yang Le has to do now is this operation. Even without Cerebro, Martian Manhunter has telepathic abilities that can cover the entire Earth, and even extend to the moon, and Miss Martian, who is stronger than Martian Manhunter, can naturally do it.
So Yang Le can store, or even copy a person's consciousness without relying on Cerebro, provided that he knows this person very well. What is fabricated out of thin air is not the original body.
The newest novels are first published on [Six] [Nine] [Book] [Bar]!
But Yang Le doesn't understand this universe's Robert, and hasn't even come into contact with him when he was normal. What should he do?
At this time, Dzesk has to suffer again. The Ikriturian's soul erasure ability is similar to eating. According to the human understanding, it is equivalent to him eating Robert's soul, so Yang Le should be able to find Robert in Dzesk's body.
Accompanied by a burst of searching, Yang Le really found something incompatible in Dzesk's body. After careful inspection, it was indeed Robert's consciousness, but Yang Le was too late, and Robert had already been 'digested' by Dzesk for the most part.
Even if this incomplete consciousness is copied out, it can only create a foolish person, and it is not impossible to create a vegetative person. There is no way, Yang Le can only use the consciousness of Robert from many comics he has read before, that is, the main universe, to patch it up.
