#819 - Green Lantern
A dazzling green light streaked across the sky, heading straight out towards Earth.
Peter Parker, as he said he would, resolutely rushed to the front line when everyone else was hesitating.
As soon as Peter burst out of the atmosphere, a dazzling light entered his field of vision, causing him to frown. He initially thought it was sunlight, but after his eyes adjusted, he realized that the striking light was not the sun.
It was the light emitted from the Heaven's main ship's incredibly exaggerated cannon. Clearly, the cannon was already in the warm-up phase, with energy accumulating inside the barrel.
The light radiating from the energy accumulating within the cannon barrel was so intense that Peter mistook it for the sun.
Compared to the light of the energy cannon, the green light emanating from Peter was insignificant.
Even though he had prepared himself, Peter was still taken aback by the horrifying sight. However, he quickly reacted and began to assess the situation.
The cannon was indeed terrifying. Judging from its size alone, the claim that it could destroy Earth was not an empty threat.
However, powerful energy weapons usually have a weakness: they require a long time to accumulate energy, and this period of energy accumulation is when the cannon is most vulnerable.
If Peter could disrupt the energy being accumulated, he could cause the cannon to explode during the preparation phase. However, he didn't know what kind of energy was being used or how stable it was.
But there was no time for Peter to think. With everything unknown and time constantly elapsing, Peter had to act first.
Clenching his right fist, Peter aimed it at the glowing energy mass hidden inside the cannon barrel. The next second, the straight green light resembled a sharp sword, piercing towards the light mass.
"Buzz!"
The ray released by the lantern ring stopped about a thousand meters away from the warship, as if an invisible wall was blocking its path.
It was a protective shield. It was reasonable for a spaceship to have a protective barrier; it's a standard science fiction trope. Peter hated this classic setting at this moment.
He gritted his teeth and desperately increased the output of the ray. The blocked ray began to dissipate around, creating ripples, allowing Peter to see the shape of the invisible energy shield.
A standard circle enveloped the entire warship. At this moment, Peter was no different from an ant trying to shake a tree.
In the silent vacuum of space, Peter couldn't hear a sound or get any help. Combined with the powerful enemy in front of him, the despair created by these factors was constantly trying to erode Peter's heart.
However, Peter was a Green Lantern who rekindled the green light with his own willpower. He had prepared himself for fighting alone the moment he took off. These negative emotions couldn't shake him now.
"How utterly foolish."
The angels in the command room, of course, saw everything Peter was doing. The Angel Queen even made a sharp comment, but she didn't dislike people like Peter.
People who dare to make an effort for their homeland are always more admirable than those who cower at home and do nothing. Moreover, Peter, fighting alone, was exactly what the Angel Queen wanted.
"Go and capture this person for me," the Angel Queen ordered Angela beside her.
"This time, don't take off the ring. Bring him back alive."
The Angel Queen's meaning was clear: since the ring would cause him to escape if removed, it was better to capture the person who could use the ring alive and then discuss removing the ring for research after thorough preparation.
As for why Angela was sent, it was because the main cannon was about to finish charging, and the strongest warrior had to be sent to complete this task. It wouldn't do to send a random soldier and have them captured, which would be all for naught.
"Yes, Queen."
Angela nodded and immediately turned and walked out of the command room. After disappearing for a few minutes, she appeared in the command room's view again, this time in space.
At this time, Angela was fully armed, wearing an angelic spacesuit to help her survive in space. In the Ten Realms, only a few races, like the Asgardians, could directly survive in space.
As a race capable of flying in the sky, the angels had already tried flying into space before the emergence of humans. That's why they added a course called "Space Safety Knowledge" to the curriculum for young angels, warning young angels who tried to fly out of the protective layer.
Although Angela came from a low-level slave background, she still received all the necessary education. The Angel Queen valued the popularization of education.
Not to mention the brave and unparalleled Angela, Angela's girlfriend is a very talented artist, and of course, she is also from a slave background.
Wise leadership, this is one of the reasons why the angels are willing to die for the Angel Queen.
With the help of the spacesuit's thrusters, Angela quickly approached Peter, who of course noticed this menacing killer.
Peter's expression was uncertain. Encountering interference at this time was like adding insult to injury. Even if the other party only interfered for a few seconds, it would be fatal for him now.
But Peter had to choose to fight. There was a glimmer of hope in fighting, and lying flat would mean nothing.
Dissipating the ray he was constantly releasing, Peter turned and conjured a long sword, choosing not to escape and facing the enemy head-on.
'Interesting.'
Angela felt a hint of admiration in her heart, and also drew her sword, raising her hand to block the blade that Peter had slashed over.
'Some brute force, but no basic swordsmanship. He's a complete amateur.'
In just a few exchanges, Angela judged Peter's strength. Peter's attacks relied only on brute force and reckless slashing, completely without order, at most relying on momentum to overwhelm others.
Such attacks could at most bully those with weaker physiques or cowardly weaklings. In the eyes of a swordsmanship master like Angela, Peter was full of flaws.
A few seconds later, Angela seized an opening, performed a sword flourish, and knocked away the latter's sword. Peter secretly thought it was bad. Just as he wanted to control the energy to change the shape of the sword, he was seized by the former who took advantage of the chaotic opportunity to rush into his arms.
Reversing the sword, Angela aimed the hilt at Peter's abdomen and smashed it down. A huge force instantly transmitted into Peter's body, causing him to vomit acid.
Putting away her sword, Angela reached out her hand to capture Peter, who was like a shrimp.
But Angela dodged to the side just as she was about to complete her mission, abandoning Peter who was within reach. At this moment, a green ray brushed past her.
