The Comprehensive Evolution of American Comics
#99 - We are organized people too.
“We have more important things, Stark,” Captain America said helplessly, looking at Tony.
“What’s important is that I haven’t eaten all day,” Tony said, taking a seat at the table first.
“We can totally talk while eating.”
“I agree!”
Before he was seen, his voice was heard first. Thor, the Thunder God, landed in the dining room with his hammer, kicking up a lot of dust.
“Whoops~ Sorry, I saw there was no ceiling, so I came straight in.”
Thor waved his hand to dissipate the dust and walked to the dining table.
“After a victory, we definitely need a big meal to reward the warriors. Is there any wine here?”
“Where’s your brother?” Tony asked.
“I’ve handed him over to you guys first, so you can keep an eye on him.” Thor sat down on the chair in a commanding manner.
“Oh, right, is this your new friend?” Thor looked at Yang Le.
“He's an alien like you, pulled me back from space,” Tony said, picking up the menu.
“I thought you guys would know each other,” Hawkeye said.
“Can you name everyone in the city?” Thor retorted.
“I know you, Asgardian, son of Odin,” Yang Le said, moving two steps closer to the dining table.
“Finally.” Thor looked touched. “In Midgard, someone finally recognizes me.”
Yang Le scanned Thor up and down. He was somewhat interested in the Asgardian genes, but Yang Le couldn't just take out his little broken watch and scan him right away, or he might anger Thor. If he ended up antagonizing the Avengers, it would be a loss.
“Then let’s eat and talk,” Steve said, looking at the two helplessly.
————Separation Line————
“So…”
Steve looked at the leftovers on the table and the well-fed crowd.
“Can we talk about serious matters now?”
“I actually always could,” Yang Le said, flicking his tail. He wasn't really that hungry, just finished his portion, while the Avengers kept eating.
“OK, I’m done here too,” Thor said, shoveling the food from his plate into his mouth.
“Finally.” Fury, who had been listening in, sighed. He had been listening to the sound of chewing food for almost half an hour.
“Then I’ll start explaining,” Yang Le straightened his posture, and the Avengers looked at Yang Le with serious expressions.
“First of all, congratulations on defeating the invaders, although it's only temporary.”
“Temporary?” Black Widow frowned. “You mean they’ll come back?”
“Yes, because their leader won’t give up until he reaches his goal.”
“Who is their leader, and what is their goal?” Steve asked in succession.
“Thanos,” Yang Le said a name indifferently.
“You probably haven’t heard of this name, but he’s quite famous in the vast universe.”
The Avengers turned their attention to Thor, after all, he was one of the only two aliens here.
“Seems like I’ve heard of him.” Thor looked serious, as if that was really the case.
“Looks like he’s not that famous,” Tony joked, he could tell that Thor was lying.
“Why would he target Earth?” Steve ignored the two jokers and looked at Yang Le in confusion.
“Resources? Or just simple invasion?”
“Earth is indeed beautiful and rich, but in the vast universe, it’s just a grain of sand,” Yang Le denied Steve’s guess.
“Thanos is here for the Infinity Stones.”
“What are those?” Tony asked curiously.
“One of the most powerful treasures in the universe. With them, you can do almost anything,” Yang Le explained.
“So this thing is on Earth? Where?” Steve pressed.
“The Tesseract that opened the portal, and the scepter Loki took.”
“The Tesseract and the scepter,” Steve muttered.
“Wait a minute.” Tony attracted everyone’s attention.
“The Tesseract and the scepter, you mean there’s more than one of these things?”
“That’s right, there are six in total, and now there are three on Earth,” Yang Le nodded, he remembered that the Eye of Agamotto of the Ancient One was also a gem.
“Three?” Tony spotted the blind spot. “The Tesseract and the scepter, where is the other one?”
“I don’t know, I only know that there are three on Earth,” Yang Le didn’t lie, after all, not everyone can find the location of the Sanctum.
“There are only six of these things in the entire universe, and there are actually three on Earth?” Tony’s expression was a little strange.
“Is this some cheesy science fiction movie written by a bad screenwriter?”
Yang Le shrugged, you have to ask the Marvel screenwriters about this.
“Soon there won’t be three, I’m going to take that Tesseract back to Asgard,” Thor said, taking a sip of wine, obviously not taking Yang Le’s words to heart.
“If that Thanos wants the Tesseract, then let him come to Asgard, we will definitely make sure he doesn't return.”
Asgardians are naturally warlike and advocate force. Almost the entire population are soldiers, and Thor is one of the best. He is not afraid of the upcoming war at all.
“If you are afraid, you can also hand over the remaining two to Asgard for safekeeping. After we defeat Thanos, we will return them to you.”
Thor saw the other Avengers' worries and offered the best suggestion he could think of.
“I think it’s a good idea,” Tony stretched. “But those big shots might not think so. If they know about it, they might try to find that third gem.”
Fury, who was listening in, had a solemn expression. His already dark face was now so dark that he couldn't see his facial features. Just like Tony said, some of the things in these conversations are best not known to those big shots.
“So, what exactly is Thanos collecting these gems for?” Steve asked with a solemn expression.
Yang Le was about to speak, but was interrupted by Tony.
“That’s not important, Captain. What good can a person who can launch an invasion want to do?”
‘Are you talking about your own country?’ Yang Le raised an eyebrow, but in his Manta Ray form, he was raising the y-shaped horns on his face.
“We should quickly improve our strength to prevent the next invasion,” Tony still looked so cynical, but no one saw the fear and worry in his eyes.
“You may be right, Stark,” Steve said after a moment of silence, helplessly.
“I’m always right,” Tony spread his hands.
“Then we should talk about you, Mr. Manta Ray,” Steve turned his attention back to Yang Le.
“Why do you know these things, and why are you telling us these things?”
‘Knew you were going to ask that.’ Yang Le looked at the serious-looking Avengers and didn't panic at all. He had already prepared his speech while eating.
“These are all intelligence collected by the organization I belong to, I’m just passing it on to you.”
“The organization you belong to?” Steve frowned.
“The Tian Gong Society.” Yang Le, the lone commander, slowly uttered a name.
