The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#2421 - Shadow of the Necrontyr (Part 1)

Before he could finish speaking, Sotha realized that indeed some Star Gods possessed such abilities, and that it was within him. His expression turned grim as he uttered the name.

"The Undying Starscourge, the things about Madail in the Ruin...these are very ancient secrets. How did you know about them?"

Kayan looked at Sotha and asked meaningfully:

"Do you really want to know?"

Sotha nodded.

"Yes, I want to know."

"It seems you have enough confidence. Actually, this matter isn't difficult to deduce. Someone once had close contact with Madail and engaged in a very 'deep' exchange with its warp form, thus learning many of Madail's secrets. And this person is now by the side of the Sage. We generally call him the Black Dragon."

Sotha thought for a moment. Madail had fought against three Primarchs and their Legions on Dagonos, but only the three Primarchs had the opportunity to face Madail directly.

Not necessarily. Saul had mentioned some things about Madail to Sotha during the Battle of Schravin, and the daemon seemed to have pushed Sanguinius to the brink, but Sanguinius ultimately survived and reached Terra.

Someone stepped forward to save the Primarch. Besides the other two Primarchs, Guilliman and Lion El'Jonson, the most likely candidate would be someone from the Blood Angels Legion.

After pondering for a moment, Sotha said softly:

"A Blood Angel from the Great Crusade era? The timeline fits, but that alone isn't enough, right? If he had the power to seize the memories of a powerful daemon, I don't think Sanguinius would have been in such danger."

"That's right. The Black Dragon doesn't actually know much. Most of it is provided by the Sage. What I'm saying is all relayed to me by him, word for word."

"I understand, but I'm very curious about that Black Dragon. Will I have a chance to meet him?"

"That's hard to say, but from my few conversations with him, he seems to intentionally avoid you. I guess you want to know about Sanguinius from him? Or rather, the question of whether Sanguinius still exists?"

Sotha nodded.

"The more I understand about the Primarchs, the more I feel that they won't die so easily. The demise of the physical body might just be a new beginning."

Kayan gazed at him, a faint smile appearing on his face, then closed his eyes and nodded.

"You're right in your understanding, but I guess he won't tell you about this."

"Then can you tell me his original name?"

"No, I also have vows that I've made."

"Understood."

Kayan nodded slightly.

"So you know pretty much everything. I won't say much more about the Star Gods. Afterwards, Madail has been acting as a servant of the Star Gods. We have reason to believe that it knows a lot about the secrets of the Star Gods, especially about the Undying Starscourge. After the War in Heaven ended and the Star Gods were betrayed by the Necrons and almost completely wiped out, Madail hibernated in the warp. At some point, it joined the Ruinous Powers and truly became a daemon, and it also participated in the attack on Sanguinius during the Horus Heresy, but it was defeated. You know what happened after that."

Sotha fell into thought, his hands in front of his chin, three fingers touching to form a triangle.

After a long time, he looked at the Hellfire Stone that Kayan had placed on the table. He was considering whether Macaroth was really 'helpless' against Madail. If the other party had already entered it first, then Madail's words would be untrustworthy.

It's like an opened letter; the content inside cannot be guaranteed to be true.

Kayan seemed to see through his thoughts and said slowly:

"I can guarantee that no one has contacted Madail yet, because I can't get in either."

Sotha reached out to the Hellfire Stone.

At the moment of contact, the scarlet gem instantly turned into a gloomy, icy black, like blackstone, and Sotha's consciousness was instantly pulled into a strange space, as if everything around him had disappeared, and he was falling into a smooth tunnel.

In the blink of an eye, he fell onto a beach.

"Hmm?"

Sotha got up, feeling a burning sensation in his hands and feet. He looked down and saw that he was standing on a fine, pale yellow sand, which was being bleached by the intense sunlight.

When he looked up, he saw two suns hanging in the sky!

Binary star systems are not uncommon in the galaxy, so it is not difficult to understand where this almost dazzling sunlight came from.

Stepping on the soft sand, Sotha on the sand dune could barely walk normally, but he soon noticed that there was a long procession moving in the distance.

So he strode over quickly.

The scorching wind blew on his face, seeming to take away the last trace of moisture in his body, but Sotha knew that this was not the real world. This should be a fragment of some memory, but he didn't know whose.

Soon he approached the procession. He saw a group of emaciated alien races, similar to humans in outline, but their heads were more slender, seemingly showing that they had a larger brain capacity, but their bodies were much more decayed than humans. Everyone's skin showed an unhealthy cyan-purple color. Their clothing was also very unique, with exaggerated headdresses and a large number of gold ornaments (directly referencing ancient Egypt). However, it could be seen that they possessed very high technology. Each person had a parasol suspended above their head that could filter out deadly sunlight. Warriors wore black and gold armor surrounded by green energy, wielding power blades and shields. Some people used huge machines to travel. The most conspicuous was a anti-gravity chariot that resembled a cobra. It was bigger than a Venom, resplendent, and surrounded by layers of guards. In the deepest red velvet cushion, a figure wearing a white cloak was sitting slantingly, looking very weak. That emaciated face was almost skin and bones.

The Necrons' genes were cursed, and they were born short-lived. If Sotha remembered correctly, the Eldar's records said so.

This group of people also seemed unable to see Sotha's existence, and walked forward silently. Sotha watched the procession extend to the end of his vision, showing that there were quite a few of them.

So Sotha followed them, as if it was a silent pantomime.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, the procession stopped in front of a huge black mountain range. Sotha didn't know what the black rocks that made it up were, but it was so magnificent, stretching to the end of the horizon, that standing at the foot of the mountain almost blocked out the sky.

At this time, he saw the weakened figure sitting on the golden cobra chariot come down with the help of his servants. He had difficulty even walking, but insisted on stepping on the hot white sand. The procession gathered in front of the black mountain range, seemingly tens of thousands of Necrons.
