The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#2577 - Persuade to surrender
"Don't shoot, I have no weapons."
As a strangely accented voice rang out, a Water Caste member in robes, holding a white flag, emerged from the smoke with his hands raised.
This place was once the woodland city of Rilarsus, but now not a single tree can be seen, only scorched earth, collapsed stone piles, and fragments of spiritbone structures, a scene of blind devastation and misery.
However, even in this hell, there are still places that have not been destroyed, such as this valley leading to the Ancestral Woodlands and the Webway Gate.
Although the surrounding mountains have been bombed to pieces, it doesn't affect the lush vegetation inside, and in the open area in front of the valley, bodies in combat suits are scattered across the scorched earth, a tragic ruin highlighted by the deadly storms and the Eldar's relentless counterattacks.
Due to the special terrain here, although the Eldar cannot deploy their massive mountain dragons, it also prevents the Tau's large war machines, especially fighters, from maneuvering effectively.
At the same time, the world-spirit is working hard to protect its people, constantly creating intense psychic storms, terrifying tornadoes swirling around the battlefield wilderness, scraping large areas of debris into the air and flinging those tiny metal fragments out at terrifying speeds; an unprotected Fire Warrior would be torn to shreds by the gale before he could escape the storm.
Many Tau fighters have crashed as a result, which has severely hampered their attack on this valley; every time they try to climb the high peaks, they are either destroyed by psychic storms or blocked by faster Eldar sharpshooters.
More importantly, their vaunted Mont'ka tactics are meaningless against the faster Eldar; their stealth devices are almost useless. Tau technicians speculate that there may be some mysterious force field on this planet, and the Eldar can control this force field to understand everything on the planet. Anyway, simply put, all the tactics they used to use against humans or Orks are meaningless against the Eldar, and they can only rely on brute force to overwhelm the enemy with numbers.
A terrible stalemate has formed here, with tens of thousands of Fire Warriors perishing in this narrow path of attack.
Of course, the Eldar have also shed much blood.
"I am here to negotiate."
The Water Caste diplomat tried to imitate the Eldar language, but a nervous tremor filled his voice.
"My name is Swaraj, and I represent the High Command in negotiations with your side."
After a moment, an Eldar wearing light spiritbone and beast bone armor, a mask on his face, a short black-green hooded cloak, and holding a spear, slowly emerged from the battlefield's haze.
He stopped fifty meters away from the Water Caste diplomat, took off his mask, revealing a thin but determined face, a shallow scar etched on the right corner of his mouth.
"Speak your words, or release your waste."
His voice was hoarse and dry, with a hint of fatigue, but his anger was still strong.
"You have lost most of your positions, and your armaments have been largely destroyed. As we once declared, this sacrifice should not have happened. Our only request is to enter your city for inspection to confirm that you have not captured or harmed our civilians. Your refusal has led to this war."
The Eldar narrowed his eyes at the other's words, gripping the spear in his hand, but did not speak.
His gaze kept darting towards the diplomat's rear and above, as if he knew something was there.
"...Reality is clear, you have failed, but we still uphold the highest principle of benevolence and the principle of maintaining peace to the greatest extent. I represent the High Command to urge your side to cease all military hostilities. We guarantee the safety of life and property of your survivors. Many civilians have already died in the war. Please recognize reality. We will do our best..."
"Are you finished?"
The Eldar coldly interrupted the Water Caste diplomat's incessant chatter, then tilted his head slightly to the right.
"My name is Yvraine, heir to the kingdom of Rilarsus. I have sworn to the Ancestors and Asuryan to kill all of you blue-skinned bastards, leaving not a single one alive, including you."
The Water Caste diplomat's face changed drastically, and he took several steps back.
"You—"
The next second, the roar of thrusters came from the sky, and a row of plasma flames surged out of the smoke, but did not hit the Eldar prince.
Instead, in a series of twists and turns, the runes woven into his ancient armor distorted into circles of light, and then burst into dazzling brilliance.
Several VX25 stealth battlesuits appeared from different directions. Although their visual lenses had automatically darkened before the light could blind them, their visual filters could not filter out this psychic light. All battlesuit members immediately fell into several seconds of blindness.
On the battlefield, a few seconds can be an eternity, let alone in front of an Eldar.
As if to prove this painful fact, the spearhead pierced through the helmet visor of a VX25 battlesuit first, turning the Fire Warrior's head inside into molten slag of iron and bone.
The next second, another VX25 head perched high above rolled off its body.
With the spear flying, Yvraine unleashed his psychic powers. As an Eldar practicing the Path of the Warlock, his psychic powers were more deadly than his swords. The spear in his hand flew out as if it were alive, piercing through the center of the third VX25's body, the spearhead dripping with thick blood.
Then the spear automatically flew back into his hand, creating a penetrating hole in the middle of the Tau battlesuits.
Finally, the remaining two battlesuit members regained their vision, and they were immediately shocked. These five were the most elite special forces warriors, yet three of them had fallen in such a short time.
After reacting, the enraged Fire Warriors immediately aimed their pulse carbines and fusion blasters at the enemy, and more intense fire came at the Eldar prince from both sides. However, he dodged with incredible agility, and directly landed behind the Water Caste diplomat who was turning to flee, right in front of the two.
"No!"
The spear drew an arc in the air, and after taking two steps, the diplomat's headless body twitched and fell to the ground, while his head had been impaled on the spear in the air.
"This is, our answer."
Just as the remaining two Fire Warriors piloting the VX25 battlesuits were furious and frantically strafing the prince with their weapons, a burst of dense fire suddenly came from above them. Shuriken and blinding beams shot into the battlesuit's armor, tearing the surrounding rocks and invaders into pieces, and the battlesuit's energy system then exploded into burning clouds due to the damage.
"Prince!"
A dozen wild Eldar men and women wielding weapons appeared on the high slopes. Yvraine turned to look at them.
Suddenly, he narrowed his eyes, then shouted:
"Get out of there!"
