The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#2950 - Cold Blood Stained the Evil Realm (Part 1)
Faced with the sudden attack, even old Mike, who had been living in comfort for many years, had to put on his armor, hold his pistol and scimitar, and encourage morale on the city wall, while all of his sons were also involved in command and combat.
From the appearance of that strange green light until now, the enemy has launched three surprise attacks, each time accompanied by a harsh static whine.
They were terrifying metal monsters with hunched skeletal bodies and long, sharp claws, moving as nimbly and strangely as cat monsters in the Black Mountains, and possessing immense strength, yet impervious to blades and bullets, quickly turning the villages and slave nests around the castle into a living hell. They swept through the Mike family's territory like a hurricane, leaving no one alive. Various severed limbs and corpses clogged the streets and even the rivers. The most terrifying thing about these monsters was that they would peel off bloody skin and drape it over themselves, even stringing pieces of limbs on their bodies.
This behavior caused great panic among the superstitious people, who believed that these were the vengeful spirits of the skinned slaves returning from hell to seek revenge on the world, and called these monsters 'Skin Demons'.
In fact, the appearance of the Skin Demons was foreshadowed. The ear-splitting alarm of Orohai City had resounded through the sky in the evening, spreading to all corners of the world. Each alarm triggered a wave of panic and chaos, because when people looked up, they could see the originally turbid sky flickering with light, emerald green, orange, yellow, and blue energy arcs crisscrossing and blooming like flowers.
Although attempts were made to contact Orohai City, all that was received was a crackling, distorted sound, repeating reports about the enemies on the ground after terrible static interference.
Immediately afterward, the radio was filled with frantic, incessant voices, describing the sudden appearance of a large number of scarecrow-like, clawed, terrifying figures, killing everywhere.
But old Mike didn't care about any of that. All he knew was that these monsters were destroying the foundation of the Mike family. After all, a slave owner without slaves is nothing. But no matter how angry or anxious he was, there was nothing he could do, because those monsters were too strong. The thousands of people he sent out died in the blink of an eye, scaring him into closing the gates tightly, defending desperately, and waiting for reinforcements from Orohai City to arrive.
As for the refugees who tried to escape to the city-states, old Mike chose to turn a blind eye. After all, the place was only so big, and there was only so much food, and he didn't know how long the attack would last.
"The Skin Demons are coming!"
A terrifying scream echoed on the city wall. Old Mike, wearing a vest and robe, strode over angrily and shot the screaming guard in the head with his pistol, then looked at the astonished people.
"No shouting! Just open fire!"
Then he walked to the wall and saw the green light flickering in the distance, followed by a group of figures running fast, covered in blood and flesh, so he shouted:
"Kill them!"
Immediately afterward, gunfire erupted on the ramparts. As a great lord, old Mike never skimped on purchasing weapons, so the Mike family's guards had very strong firepower, including various firearms, and even heavy explosive shells, mortars, autocannons, multi-barrel lasers, and armored vehicles.
Soon, in the dense shooting, the metal exoskeletons of some monsters deformed, shaking in the impact.
But they still kept moving forward, their open jaws seeming to emit silent howls. Old Mike also gritted his teeth, firing his pistol again and again.
But they still strode forward, the tattered human entrails woven like shrouds swaying, the venomous eyes in the metal skulls flashing, the half-meter-long claws scratching the ground, running fast on all fours.
They were too fast, and soon they passed through the firing zone, but their target was not the ramparts, but those slaves hiding under the ramparts, trying to save their lives. They couldn't enter the castle, so they could only seek shelter under the city, where at least there were firearms to guard them.
But this shelter also quickly became ineffective. Faced with the surging claws, the scantily clad slaves screamed and fled, but the ruthless bullets shot through the crowd, just to block the Skin Demons chasing behind them.
Watching the slaves fall one by one, or be torn to pieces, Mike shook his head in disgust and anger. These were all his property, but now he had to watch them be destroyed. After this disaster, the Mike family might be driven out of this sanctuary. At this time, he even prayed maliciously in his heart that the other seventeen families would suffer such losses as well.
The guards on the wall shot with all their might, and the ruthless bullets and bursting lasers knocked down the targets indiscriminately. The Skin Demons ignored the firepower above their heads, and only kept using their claws to dig out and tear apart the entrails of the slaves.
If it was just like this, then they would leave soon, just like the previous attacks. Old Mike had already discovered that these monsters seemed no different from wild beasts. As long as they satisfied themselves, they would not entangle.
This might be a good thing.
Just as he was sighing because the slaves had satisfied the enemy with their flesh and blood, a scream suddenly made him turn around.
"What is this!"
Earlier, on the street behind the wall, the crowd screamed, and the slaves carrying ammunition scattered and fled, with twitching pieces of corpses on the ground.
Monsters resembling huge multi-limbed insects materialized out of thin air, waving their claws and constantly sweeping through the crowd, cutting and slicing. Then there was a roar, and old Mike only felt a faint green flash across his retina, and then the gate of the manor disappeared, literally.
"No, no, how is this possible—"
The terrified Mike looked outside the wall. Something he had never seen before appeared, like a black skeletal canoe floating in the sky, a ghost ship sailing from the nether hell, bringing suffocating cold, slowly drifting over. Countless monsters jumped out of its rib-like transport艙 and rushed towards the "breached" manor.
"Quick! Hold on! Hold the door!"
Old Mike roared loudly, but soon his roar turned into a scream.
He saw his eldest son, who was also his heir, being picked into the air by a monster. The upper body of this monster was a skinner with heavy armor, but the lower body was a tomb fiend, which allowed it to fly in mid-air, while its left hand was a claw, and its right arm had become a form similar to a halberd.
Raising the body of old Mike's eldest son high, Fione, the crowned general of the Dark Mosquito Legion, gently exerted force and cut the chattering tailless ape's body into several pieces. For him, this could not be called a hunt at all. This place was simply a huge ape cave, filled with various male, female, strong, and weak tailless apes. They resisted with stones and branches, guarding their nests built on stones, which was really interesting.
