The Emperor’s Angel of Death

“Aww!”

Before the Daemon Prince could take a bite out of his enemy, several Gauss Annihilation Cannons suddenly slammed into the Barbed Terror, blasting off one of its heads and tearing through its body. Under the cover of the Annihilator gunships, Janek leaped up like a predator, his twin blades slashing fiercely at the other head, tearing through the foul, decaying warp-tainted flesh.

But before he could land, two ferocious blows struck him, sending Janek flying. He rolled a dozen times on the ground before getting back to his feet.

More than twenty Chaos Terminators strode into the battlefield, supporting the fight with fierce firepower, but before they could unleash their fury for more than a few minutes, several figures materialized behind them.

“Watch out!”

Someone immediately warned, but as soon as they turned around, the Ophidian Destroyers used their sharp claws to cut through the Terminator armor like butter, grinding the flesh and blood inside. At the same time, the Tomb Spectres wrapped themselves around some unfortunate souls like giant pythons, and then their sharp spikes pierced through their helmets.

In response, some Terminators also raised their power axes and chopped down the attacking constructs, but the Ophidian Destroyers were too cunning and agile. They disengaged immediately after a successful strike, giving their opponents no room to retaliate.

Three massive Soul Grinders lumbered into the battle, using the blades in their hands and the infernal cannons to fire at the disengaging Ophidian Destroyers. Their massive feet crushed the corpses and Flayed Ones' remains on the ground, roaring and declaring their contempt for the enemy.

But soon a challenger appeared. One of the Soul Grinders, bound by a Khorne Daemon, sensed something and turned around, just in time to meet two large claws.

The Orox Dynasty sent out a force for the Great Hunt that was not just cannon fodder. Their half-mad Phaeron, to express his sincerity to the Blood God, even sent out a unique unit, the Bloodfiend Exalted.

This was a type of Tomb Guard that had been transformed by the long-term effects of the Flayer Curse. Their constructs had naturally mutated, forming two scythe-like forelimbs similar to Tyranid talons. Their carapaces were covered in spikes. They possessed all the abilities of Tomb Guards and could use phase shifting, but they were more ferocious and brutal.

Pierced by two sharp scythe claws, the wounded Soul Grinder, out of instinct, frantically sprayed flames from the weapon in its hand, the burning flames howling and engulfing its body—but to no avail.

Tomb Guards were equipped with a ghost lens, which could generate a force field composed of unknown energy to protect them from the effects of warp powers.

The alloy scythe claws clamped onto the Daemon Engine so tightly that even the metal components inside the Daemon's body were squeezed out alive.

The Tomb Guard's head resembled a metal flower with sharp petals. When it slowly opened, it revealed a deep green light inside.

Realizing what was about to happen, the Daemon Engine struggled frantically, hacking and slashing at the Tomb Guard, but all to no avail, because the Banishment Cannon had been activated.

In the Daemon Engine's terrified wails, a beam of light enveloped it, causing its entire body to explode, spewing blood and flesh, but it was quickly absorbed by the beam.

In just one second, the massive Daemon Engine disappeared without a trace.

This was the Banishment Cannon, a powerful and mysterious Necron weapon whose sole purpose was to banish everything, from vehicles to the most gigantic alien creatures or daemonic entities, easily banishing the target to a barren pocket dimension.

For Daemons, this was no different from annihilation, because even their gods could not "fish" them out of such a space.

However, the Banishment Cannon was not without its weaknesses. Just like snakes that do not eat for a long time after swallowing prey, the Banishment Cannon had to wait a long time to cool down after each use.

Just after banishing one Soul Grinder, the firepower from another Soul Grinder slammed violently into the armor shell of the Bloodfiend Exalted, but the thick armor ensured that it could withstand more damage. At the same time, two other Bloodfiend Exalted quietly arrived beneath their prey, and then suddenly erupted using phase shifting, entangled their opponent, and activated the Banishment Cannon.

In this situation, the remaining angry Daemon Engine rushed over, raising its huge battleaxe and fighting the Bloodfiend Exalted. The two sides became entangled.

Accompanied by a roar and the sound of metal breaking, the Daemon battleaxe directly split the Bloodfiend Exalted from the waist, and the remaining two halves fell to the ground. Then the Daemon Engine turned around to face the other opponents, while the Bloodfiend Exalted that had banished the Daemon Engine crawled over, and the two sides fought together again.

Just as the Daemon Engine was preparing to kill the enemy again, it was suddenly entangled by something from behind. It was horrified to find that the prey that had been "cut in half" by it had somehow recovered—the various segments of a Tomb Guard could attract each other, and once broken, they would automatically reconnect and reorganize their complete body.

In fact, only a wide range of firepower could possibly destroy a Tomb Guard.

Entangled by two Tomb Guards from the front and back, the Daemon Engine struggled frantically, but like a prey entangled by a multi-limbed poisonous insect, its struggle was useless.

In an instant, the surface of the Bloodfiend Exalted's abdomen exposed a furnace emitting a black glow, and intense Gauss energy was released from it, causing the Daemon Engine to wail again and again, eventually turning into a pile of melted wreckage and being banished back to the warp forge.

As the Necrons invested more and more combat power, the battle quickly entered a fever pitch. The Phantom Warriors underestimated the power of a Necron Dynasty. The decapitation plan had reached the brink of failure, and most of the districts of the Ael'dari city had been riddled with holes under the bombardment of the Doomsday Monoliths and various aircraft and giant constructs. Only the five palaces at the top maintained their defenses, while other places had either become a mess or had simply fallen.

Millions of corpses lay in the cities and fortresses they were protecting. The vast majority had no gunshot wounds, either torn apart by blades or chewed by twisted jaws. Many incomplete corpses looked as if they had been dissolved in sulfuric acid, with layers of skinless muscles and bones exposed. Countless scarab swarms swept through everywhere like a tide, using their small mouthparts to cut through metal and crush stones.

Anyone with any sense has realized that without absolute power to turn the tide, Ael'dari city is finished.

The Phantom Legion is also finished.

“What troublesome metal things.”

The Visage Baron, who had been fighting with Val’Ghul for dozens of rounds, already felt that his existence in the material universe was weakening. Although the Ael'dari city's psychic nexus could provide him with a steady stream of energy, this damned mechanical bastard was too difficult to deal with, and the red quantum-shaped fog surrounding him was strange.
