The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#3313 - Storm of Amalur (V)

"Children, follow me!"

A man covered in tattoos, with a face full of橫肉, a grizzled gray beard, and his right hand replaced with a sharp iron hook, roared, leading a surging wave of gang members clad in spiked carapace armor. They emerged from pipes, shafts, and ruins where no one should have been, instantly gathering over a thousand strong, rushing towards the flank of the Necrons, brandishing makeshift iron pipe warhammers or raising various self-made firearms.

Leading them was "Dead Hook" Reilly Harvey, the most infamous figure in New Veridia's underhive, and a long-standing name on the Enforcer's most wanted list, known for his brutality and penchant for murder. His gang monopolized many weapons, casinos, and illicit drug trades.

But when the alien invasion came, he did not choose to flee like some gang leaders, but stubbornly stayed to defend his territory.

People like him were not few in number. The massive population and complex terrain of the hive city meant that unless the Necrons invested overwhelming forces, or directly destroyed most of the structures, or the defenders collapsed on their own, it would be difficult to conquer it in a short time. As long as the command system remained, and the regular forces were still present, the hive city residents would quickly realize after a brief panic that the invaders were not as terrifying or as numerous as they thought, and they would find the courage to resist.

"Kill these metal skeletons!!!"

The gang members may have lacked discipline, but they relied on brute force to withstand a volley of fire from the turning Necron Warriors. Then, the two sides collided, the swaying low-ranking Necron infantry were trampled to the ground, and the people who had injected combat stimulants howled, wielding their weapons to smash their heads or joints.

Then, blades flashing with green light swept in from all directions, piercing unprotected bellies or cleaving through vulnerable necks. Screams rang out, and blood splattered on the cold metal shells.

In a spasm of pain, Reilly Harvey injected a lethal combat stimulant into his body, then suddenly burst forth, his iron hook slamming into the opponent's head, carving a scar on its forehead before the Overlord could react, then embracing it with his remaining arm.

This charge allowed the gang members to knock down many enemies, but the density of the enemy formation was too high, and the momentum of the charge soon weakened.

Dead Hook used all his strength to swing his roaring chainsword at the enemy, but this Necron was much faster than the others, faster than humans, easily deflecting his weapon, then backhanding the blade hanging under the gun into Reilly Harvey's shoulder.

The Overlord watched the fallen opponent, feeling somewhat disappointed.

Boom—

A loud bang sent several Immortals flying.

Relying on his brute strength, Reilly Harvey suddenly swung his arm, using the hook to drag a Necron Warrior into the air, then slammed it hard on the ground, then stomped on its neck.

Reilly Harvey's bones were shattered, he lost control of his body due to the pain, and when he crashed on the cold, damp ground, he clearly felt that his arm was broken.

As the surrounding Immortals turned and hacked at his body with their weapons, he laughed loudly, then slammed his head heavily into the Overlord's throat.

"Die, die, die!!!"

For a gang leader who had been in the bloody streets for decades, identifying the opponent's leader was a very important skill. In the dark and chaotic underhive street brawls, taking out the opponent's leader was the fastest way to win.

And that Necron Overlord also noticed the "primitive creature" rushing towards it. It did not regard it as a threat, but for a high-ranking warrior of the Menekh Dynasty, since the opponent had issued a challenge, it would accept it. This was an ancient war ritual.

This was also a very different aspect of the Menekh Dynasty compared to other dynasties. They would not be "disrespectful" because of the opponent's "primitiveness". No matter how insignificant the enemy, as long as they dared to issue a challenge, they would gladly accept it.

"Don't be afraid! Kill them! There aren't many of them!"

He hooked the opponent's body with his hook, pushed forward with force, and a red dot flashed on his belt.

The Immortals stood in formation, and the gauss blasters in their hands unleashed a devastating volley, instantly evaporating a large number of gang members rushing into the ranks, along with Reilly Harvey's followers.

These low-level creatures were hardly worthy of being called opponents. They were just pests that needed to be trampled to death. "Damn metal frames."

The gang leader raised the double-barreled shotgun in his hand and pulled the trigger towards the front. The huge impact directly knocked down a staggering Necron Warrior. A dozen of his most trusted bodyguards and assassins followed him, killing towards the "alien boss."

But he had no way to retreat. He roared and passed through the forest of metal skeletons, threw away the shotgun and pulled out the chainsaw sword hanging behind his waist that had followed him for many years—this was a military weapon, representing his former military status. "For the Emperor!!!"

When the smoke cleared, the Necron Overlord slowly took out a blood-stained eyeball from its eye socket, then gently crushed it, and touched the crack on its forehead, then smeared the opponent's blood on it with its fingers.

Reilly Harvey spotted this guy at a glance. This must be a leader. If he took it down, maybe this group of skeletons would disband.

"Follow me!!!"

Then he turned his head and saw a slowly descending ghost ark, with a black skeleton, just like the death ship in ghost stories carrying the souls of the dead. Then, from its black ribs, jumped down taller figures, holding double-barreled gauss cannons, the ghost fire in their skulls as bright as searchlights. One of them was particularly conspicuous, with a metal tassel-like cloak behind him, and tall tubular decorations behind him.

He had earned its respect.

But the battle had to continue. It had to complete the mission given by the Lord, to destroy the enemy.

As the silent signal spread in all directions, the Immortal phalanx moved, and at the same time, an even more devastating shadow enveloped the battlefield.

At this time, the defenders who seemed to have just gained the upper hand realized that a storm of death was surrounding them. Under the dense gauss fire, their bodies were completely decomposed, and the air was filled with ashes, smoke, and bitterness.

Then, the earth shook, and several Doom Scythes swept past the human rear positions at extremely high speeds, using their twin-linked gauss flayers to madly ravage the human artillery and tank positions. Faced with this enemy moving at speeds and maneuverability that defied the common sense of physics, the defenders had no way to resist. The only Hydra flak cannons could only try in vain to track the enemy's trajectory, but could not stop one Leman Russ and Chimera after another from turning into burning ruins.
