The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#3362 - Fire Wing Iron

As the Wyvern Riders swept across the sky and ground battlefield with the force of a storm, Ivane had already single-handedly charged towards the Mek-Kong, which was advancing towards the inner city.

The Warbikes responsible for protecting the Mek-Kong immediately spotted him and organized an attack.

Ivane fearlessly maneuvered his steed through the hail of bullets, rockets constantly flying over his head and past his sides, occasionally being fortunate enough to have their direction altered by his psychic powers before they hit.

As he passed a Warbike, the Ork driver even pulled out a pistol and tried to shoot him. Ivane reached out, and his spear automatically flew out, piercing the enemy's head and pinning him to his seat. Simultaneously, the Venom Wyvern opened its maw and spewed a stream of high-pressure acid onto the face of another Warbike driver, melting his flesh in screams, leaving only a ghastly skull above the neck.

At the same time, Ivane recalled his spear and raised his hand, using the Lightburst Pistol to blast the third approaching Warbike and its driver into pieces. The Lightburst Pistol is an advanced laser weapon with ample energy, capable of creating a storm of energy pulses with a single shot, devastating large numbers of enemies.

Concurrently, five blazing fireballs descended from the sky like meteors, instantly destroying the remaining five Warbikes. The Ork drivers didn't know what killed them until they turned to ashes.

The Mek-Kong was close at hand, a massive monster covered in gun emplacements. When the Grots saw the terrifying Wyvern approaching, some scattered in fear, while others operated the weapons and fired at the sky. However, most of their bullets missed. Soon, the hatches opened, and a dozen Boyz emerged, wielding machine guns, kicking at the fleeing Grots, firing at the sky, and roaring.

Ivane picked up the missile launcher from his saddle and, as his steed spun and rose to evade the bullets, steadily pulled the trigger.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh—

A series of explosions swept across the top of the Mek-Kong, blowing open the hatches and sending wailing Grots flying into the air.

While the enemy was in chaos, he maneuvered his steed above the war engine and then leaped down. Upon landing, his first shot hit the throat of an Ork coughing and covering his face. It staggered, kneeling on one knee, then stood up, but a second later, it shook its head and fell.

Then, the Dragon Knight, spear in hand, deftly weaved through the enemy ranks, killing the surviving Orks with an elegant and ruthless grace.

Next, he walked to the blown-open hatch, took two Overload Grenades from his belt, activated them, and threw them into the war engine's interior. These grenades released a strong electromagnetic pulse, short-circuiting wires, disrupting power systems, and even affecting the nervous systems of organic beings. They were effective against Necrons, but also suitable for dealing with the Orks' crude machinery.

The next second, the moving Mek-Kong suddenly froze, even trembling slightly as if electrocuted, and the weapons on its arms slowly lowered.

Ivane issued a command, then flipped backward, landing securely in his saddle as he fell. The Venom Wyvern surged into the sky.

The five fireballs, following instructions, crashed down like five artillery shells, directly impacting the Mek-Kong's vulnerable rear and top.

At first, nothing happened.

Three seconds later, a red glow emerged from the cracks and breaches in the war engine's hull, growing stronger and stronger.

BOOM! ——————————!

As if a volcano had erupted, the entire population of Black Reef City felt the tremor, and many on the walls and roofs began to cheer.

The metal demon that had almost destroyed their home, after a brief expansion, exploded into a massive firework display, countless parts being thrown hundreds of meters into the air, eventually landing as far as several kilometers away. The explosion was so devastating that buildings within a 500-meter radius were leveled in one second, and all buildings within a 5-kilometer radius of the explosion site were damaged. Shattered glass and rubble filled the streets, and even parts of the inner city walls showed cracks and collapses.

Of course, the Orks suffered the most. They had been following the Mek-Kong, only to be caught in the blast. Tens of thousands of Ork Boyz were instantly carbonized and vaporized, and the rest were turned into shattered corpses.

But the cheering people didn't notice that five fireballs had risen into the air amidst the fiery explosion.

"Truly terrifying."

Ivane was also surprised by the scale of the explosion, and even more surprised that the Firewings at the center of the explosion were unharmed. It seemed that the high-temperature, high-pressure environment had little effect on them, although they looked more exhausted than before, likely having consumed too much power.

Then, he reached out, summoned the lead bird, gently stroked its iron-hard feathers, and whispered:

"Perhaps one day... you will truly be able to recreate the magnificence of the Phoenix. That will surely be a grand spectacle of our race's revival."

As he withdrew his hand, he issued new instructions.

"Go and complete your hunt."

The Firewings emitted a cry, then flapped their wings and turned towards the ground, followed closely by four of their kind.

Ivane watched them head towards their hunting grounds, then raised his spear, his voice appearing in the minds of every Dragon Knight.

"The enemy has been driven to the brink, and their doom awaits! Quickly clear the battlefield, but be steadfast in your hearts. We are only here to kill those monsters who must be killed, but do not revel in it. Beware the desires of Khaine, for they are but the deceptive words of the hungry god, giving voice to his thirst. Renounce joyful slaughter, for the sake of the merciful Father and Mother!"

"For the Father and Mother!"

As the words faded, an ear-piercing scream tore through the night sky, and the Venom Wyvern carrying Ivane swooped down towards the edge of the outer city, appearing exceptionally clear in the light of the fires.

White flames and searing laser pulses pierced the bodies of the beasts, claws and tail hooks pierced and tore them apart. Faced with the Aeldari's furious onslaught, the remaining Ork Boyz did not last long. They were slaughtered in a short time, and the few remaining desperately fled out of the city, but the swift Firewings awaited them, burning their flesh and devouring their blackened bones.

When everything seemed to have settled, the Wyvern Riders were unharmed, with only two being grazed by bullets and shrapnel. It was almost a one-sided massacre.

It was at this moment that the city lord of Black Reef City finally realized that the ones who came to aid them were not the Astra Militarum, or even humans, but a xenos more frightening and worrying to him, and about whom he knew almost nothing.

They called themselves Aeldari, and came to help humans defend this world from being occupied by Orks.

The city lord had heard of Aeldari. He had also made pilgrimages to the Crimson Fists monastery in the Hell's Edge Mountains three times and attended the loyalty training courses required by the planetary governor. Relying on the information provided by the Space Marines, he recognized several xenos that posed a great threat to humanity, including the so-called Aeldari Eldar. Although the image given in the textbooks was somewhat different from what he saw, the slender yet powerful figures were basically the same.
