The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#3414 - Ryan! Ryan! (Part 3)
The Crimson Fists Chapter Master, filled with excitement, rushed through the chaotic streets to the communications station. The remaining high-ranking members of the Crimson Fists were gathered there, surrounding the makeshift communication console.
As Kanto entered, he immediately grabbed the communicator without a word.
"This is Pedro Kanto, Chapter Master of the Crimson Fists! Can you hear me?"
A burst of static filled the communicator, followed by a faint but relatively clear voice.
"This is Admiral Katel of the Imperial Navy, under orders to lead the fleet in support of the Crimson Fists. The enemy's main fleet has left the Rynn's World system, allowing us to break through their orbital defenses. We will immediately commence drop operations, selecting the Rynn's World airport as the landing zone due to the need to deploy Titan Legions and a large number of heavy weapons. The enemy fleet may attack at any moment, so our landing window is very limited. Requesting your cooperation."
After listening, Kanto paused for several seconds before calmly replying:
"Understood. The Crimson Fists will do everything possible to secure the airport."
After ending the communication, Kanto scanned the faces of those present. A sudden explosion shook the communications station, rattling the floor and light fixtures.
"Everyone, the Greenskin war engines are already active. The Imperial reinforcements are our last hope. We must clear the way for the landing forces. This decision may destroy the Chapter, but I believe the survival of Rynn's World is more important. The people here have already sacrificed too much."
No one spoke, but they all silently raised their fists, signifying the Crimson Fists' resolve.
Kanto nodded and said to the communications officer:
"Relay the order to all available air wings: seize air superiority over the airport at all costs!"
Seize air superiority over the airport at all costs!
This message spread through the Rynn's World airbase after airbase, each hidden along the coast. One by one, battle-scarred fighters and bombers lumbered down the runways, took to the sky, forming small squadrons, and then joining with other squadrons to create larger formations.
Ultimately, hundreds of aircraft soared over the smoke of Rynn's World City, heading straight for Rynn's World Airport.
Tempered by the crucible of war, the Rynn's World Air Force had produced a large number of elite pilots. These pilots, who had survived countless impossible missions, fearlessly flew their battered aircraft into the path of the incoming Greenskin Dakkajets, giving their lives to save the planet.
At the same time, several Thunderhawks used low-altitude flight to pass through the enemy's anti-aircraft fire zone, speeding towards the center of the airport.
Along the way, Kanto watched a Stompa lumber by. It was uninterested in the small insects flying around it, steadily heading towards Rynn's World City with swaying steps, its weapons constantly roaring, blasting gaps in the already battered defenses of Rynn's World City.
This would be a cruel game of time, a race between the arrival of Imperial reinforcements and the destruction of Rynn's World City by the Greenskin Stompas.
"Faster! Faster!"
Kanto kept urging the pilot to accelerate, his heart filled with anxiety, each second seeming so long.
Boom—
A violent explosion suddenly rocked the Thunderhawk. The gunship shook violently, and everyone in the cabin cried out, grabbing hold of anything they could. Kanto staggered towards the cockpit.
"What happened!?"
"Report, a... Greenskin thing exploded, unknown reason!"
Kanto opened the observation window and saw that the Stompa they had passed earlier had indeed turned into a burning heap of wreckage, but Rynn's World City shouldn't have any weapons capable of threatening it.
Was it orbital bombardment?
In theory, it shouldn't be that accurate...
Suddenly, he stared into the fire, noticing something flying through it, like some kind of winged creature, but it was too fast, and the flames and smoke made it impossible to see clearly.
But now was not the time to wonder. One less Stompa was a good thing, Rynn's World City could hold out longer.
As the Thunderhawk sped across the airport, the Greenskin anti-aircraft guns immediately reacted, firing a dense barrage of shells into the sky. Some hit the Thunderhawk's hull, creating crisp clangs and hisses.
Fortunately, the Thunderhawk was too fast, and the Greenskins' manually controlled anti-aircraft weapons struggled to keep up. The Thunderhawk constantly dodged, strafing the anti-aircraft gun emplacements, turning them into smoking wreckage. The wings sliced through smoke, and flames soared into the air.
Upon reaching the target area, the Thunderhawk immediately swooped down and opened its hatches.
Kanto was the first to jump out of the cabin, raising the Storm Bolter on his left arm, aiming, and firing faster than the human eye could follow, even faster than thought.
On the huge steel structure platform, a screaming Greenskin Boy spun around and fell dead before he could make a sound.
This also attracted the attention of all the Greenskins present. All eyes focused on Kanto, and then they roared and began firing with various weapons, weaving a symphony of noise.
The moment Kanto landed, he leaned to the right, dodging a series of bullets aimed at him.
Then he raised his hand again and fired, the Kraken penetrator rounds accurately killing one Greenskin after another.
At this time, the other warriors from the Thunderhawk also landed, followed by the second Thunderhawk. The elite warriors of the Crimson Fists surrounded the Chapter Master, firing accurately and attacking the anti-aircraft gun positions, turning them into smoking ruins.
Many broken bodies flew into the air and then rolled back to the ground.
"To the airport center!"
Kanto did not linger, but quickly left the area. There was no longer a straight path in the airport, only winding roads made of twisted metal and piles of garbage.
The Crimson Fists charged and destroyed, their footsteps, roars, and the roar of bolters playing a cruel song, while the Greenskins, realizing the presence of intruders, scurried like insects.
Kanto fought with fury, always prioritizing the elimination of the Greenskin leaders, because these beasts would collapse without their leaders.
WAAAAGH!!!
A Greenskin Boss, stepping on a groaning metal plate, charged towards him, raising a broken, blunt blade, ready to deliver a fatal blow. Kanto responded with a roar, his red iron fist slamming into the Greenskin Boss first, the enormous force tearing through the rusty armor.
The Greenskin Boss screamed and staggered. The power fist plunged directly into his chest, and then Kanto roared and kicked him away.
Whoosh!
Just as he finished off the Greenskin Boss, a venomous bullet shot from above his helmet. Kanto spun smoothly, narrowly avoiding it.
More Greenskins howled and poured out of the smoke, rusty blades slashing at him.
Kanto was like a raging mad beast, smashing the heads of one Greenskin after another with his huge iron fists, blasting their bodies apart. The Greenskin Boys behind him stared in stunned silence, then turned and fled.
