Perhaps in my eyes, the protagonist of this story that I have been observing for nearly two years is actually a very brave and even impulsive character. His sadness, despair, and subsequent escape are just because he wants to The [Destiny] faced didn’t even have a bright health bar.
But since he gives most people the feeling of weakness, it doesn't matter.
Just like Shinji is also a very impulsive character, and many chapters are even used to describe his bravery, but in most people's impressions, he is a classic weak protagonist. The underlying logic of this phenomenon is that a character's actions in a certain environment leave such a deep impression on the audience that they are abstracted and become the characteristics of the character.
From this perspective, I think a character who is generally considered weak is not bad.
Compared to a heroic, determined, and confident male protagonist with a facial expression, a protagonist with obvious character flaws may dissuade many people, but as long as they can accept this setting, the degree of empathy between those who stay and the protagonist will be relatively high. Deeper - this is what I thought when I first heard someone say Mikael was weak, and this is what I still think until now.
But there are still some things I want to argue with this character.

In the latter, Mikael does often say/think "everything is meaningless", but I think that if Mikael is regarded as a pessimist and nihilist based on this, there are only two possibilities. ——

The second type is that he himself is a pessimist, so everyone looks like a pessimist.
I did write that compared to Ellie's optimism, Mikael's perspective on the problem is more pessimistic, but that's because he knows the ending of the whole story. If he is still laughing at this time... that is what normal people can have Brain circuit?
So is Mikael a nihilist? Obviously not, because the choices and behaviors after "everything is meaningless" are what determine whether a person is a nihilist or an existentialist.
Except for the period of the most collapse, Mikael has a tendency to mess up - but the essence is that he thinks that he should not continue to interfere with the plot, so he goes in the original direction to the ending, and then changes it. These are the only points I want to argue for Mikael. Ultimately, everyone should be able to see that Mikael is a rather awkward character, with many contradictory personalities in him, but at least for me, It is precisely because of this contradiction that I like him so much.

Let’s talk about the creation of this book again. In fact, I am not an old captain myself.
I started reading Honkai Impact III in April 2022, and this book was released in August 2022, with only four months in between.
And I entered the game not too early, at the end of October 2021. Before that, I wasn’t even a two-dimensional person.
Maybe it’s because I don’t have the filter to accompany me for a long time, but I personally prefer pre-civilization. When I first wanted to write about Bengsan Doujin, I wanted to write about pre-civilization. However, the Eternal Paradise chapter hadn’t been released at that time. My favorite is Pado. In the beginning of the idea, Pado picked her up on the twilight street, and then they depended on each other, and finally they were sent to the operating table together.
In fact, some of this idea has been retained in this book. For example, the title of the first volume is not "The Origin" but "Dusk".
But this project was quickly killed because I went to write Genshin Impact (bushi).
Actually, I felt that few people would read Honkai Impact III.
By the time fans want to write about Honkai Impact III again, it will be after August 13, 2022, which is when the Eternal Paradise arc ends.
I was entering my senior year at that time, so I had plenty of time. I went out on the street many times and didn't care if anyone saw it. I just wanted to "record" something.
This also formed the original intention of writing this book - the original idea for this book was not even a novel, but a "Chronicle of Pre-Civilization".
So everyone saw a lot of original characters and a completely original Luluye chapter in the first volume, including even the policeman who checked Michael's driver's license in the second volume. It was originally planned to be expanded and written, because the idea at the time was , heroes and warriors are the people who fought for this civilization to the end, but not everyone. There are too many warriors who did not leave their names or even have superpowers who died on the road to saving the world. I originally wanted to write this A little bit, but then I really couldn't grasp so many characters, so I could only focus on Ying Jie himself again and write some original characters along the way.
The reason why Mikael was weak at the beginning and did not have the heroic spirit of ordinary male protagonists was originally based on the setting of "ordinary people".
I even had this idea in my mind - if there is such a protagonist who takes pre-civilization and speed-passes Honkai Impact directly at a very small cost, will that be the opposite for the story of pre-civilization and for the sake of salvation? What about the disrespect of those who sacrificed the world?
Just like that kind of anti-Japanese drama, on the surface it shows the bravery and strength of the predecessors, but in fact it is not disrespectful of the bloodshed and sacrifice of those people.
But now, I am not sure whether the reason why Mikael is like this and the reason why this story is like this is my will.
When I started writing this story, I didn't notice it, but when I was halfway through the first volume, I realized that the writing flow was much smoother than I imagined. It seems that I am not [creating] a story, but witnessing a story happening and then recording it.
Then I naturally got the ending I am writing now. Strictly speaking, my conception of the ending of this story was several months earlier than the ending of the first part of Bengsan... Otherwise, I wouldn’t have written it later. Sa, I haven’t written the story of Luo Xing and Hou Beng anymore, because the ending was completely finalized before the first volume was finished. Although I had my doubts later and considered whether to change the ending, in the end I was still taken by the original Constrained by the idea of this, maybe this is why everyone feels that the ending is stable but not eye-catching or perfect.
In any case, this is the first story that I have fully recorded, and many more people have witnessed this story than I imagined.
But because of this, I felt very uneasy.
I understand that the reason why so many people have read this book is essentially because of the popularity of Bengsan's ending, and because few people wrote about Bengsan's novel at the beginning, so the probability of being discovered by everyone is higher. But for my next book, I want to try something original. Although it is an original story based on EVA, Beng San, and some of the current stories, I really don’t know how many people can follow me to witness this. Next story.
