The Hero Who Troubles the Heroes

Vol 4 Chapter 1498: someone worth wooing

Charles's archery was a success, and he was applauded by the audience before being locked up in a dark room for three days.

It’s okay to perform random performances without approval. The key is to frighten some audience members to **** their pants. It’s already a lot of face to hang up and beat them in public.

If it's just a normal little dark room, Charles can still sleep there.

But this little black house in the arena is built directly next to the public toilet, which will kill people.

When the door of the small dark room opened, Charles had the feeling of crossing again.

"Uh... it's you?" He never thought that it was Borja who opened the door for himself.

Borja was the first gladiator he had encountered here, and it stands to reason that the two of them had little to do with each other, and he even robbed him of the show and pinched him hard that morning.

"Surprise?!" Borja raised an eyebrow at Charles, with a teasing smile on his face.

Charles nodded and said, "It's really surprising."

"This is what Master Hozenploz asked me to give to you." Borja handed Charles the world gap repairer, "Master also agreed that I should take you out tonight."

Charles took the necklace and hung it around his neck. After thanking him, he thought about it and decided to go out with him to have a look.

It seems that Borja really got the consent of Mr. Hozenproz. When he left the gladiator training ground, the doorman just glanced at Charles and let him go.

It was the first time that Charles walked on the streets near the arena. There were many bars and other places, as well as many shops selling exquisite items. It looked like a commercial center.

The road under my feet is a stone paved road. It seems that the drainage system is good, and there is no water on the road.

The two walked for more than ten minutes. Along the way, Borja was introducing to Charles what the store on the road sold and what characteristics it had.

Charles didn't answer too much, just to be in touch from time to time.

Soon after, they walked out of the commercial area and into the residential area, and finally stopped in front of a two-story stone building.

"Welcome to my home." Borja made an inviting gesture towards Charles after opening the door.

Charles was obviously stunned, not expecting at all that he would bring himself home.

Out of caution, Charles scanned the surroundings with his soul vision and found that there were only five people inside, either women or children.

Since there is no knife or axe, he is relieved.

The layout of this small building is like a courtyard, with the servant's room, kitchen and warehouse facing the street, the bedrooms on the left and right sides, and the living room and small bathroom in front of the courtyard.

There was a woman who was supposed to be Borja's wife. When she saw the door opened, she took the two little boys and hid in the bedroom to avoid it.

Borja called a slave girl and told her to take Charles to the bathroom to wash up, and then asked another slave girl to prepare meals.

Washing is really first washing and then brushing. First, wash it with soap made of plant ash and animal fat, and then brush it with a palm-sized brush. Charles feels that he is two pounds lighter.

Charles finished his bath, put on his new robe, and led the slave girl into the parlour.

There are lounge chairs against the wall in the living room, and food, fruit and wine are placed on the coffee table in front of the lounge chairs.

The food is very simple, just cut into strips of roast meat, no spices, but a lot of honey.

Borja lay casually on a reclining chair, grabbing kebabs and fruit with his hands and stuffing them into his mouth.

Charles also half lay down, but instead of scratching with his hands, he picked up a meat-cutting dagger and ate it.

This behavior surprised Borja and asked, "Are you from the 'Desert Eagle'?"

The ghost knew what a "desert eagle" was, and Charles replied: "The elders in the family taught them to have invisible bugs on their hands, and they will send the bugs into their stomachs when they are directly held by their hands."

Borja suddenly realized, "So you are from there, no wonder archery is so superb!"

Charles' expression was calm, and he didn't know where it was, neither admitting nor denying it.

He asked, "I don't know what you have to do with me tonight?"

Borja finished a barbeque, took a gulp of wine, picked up the grapes and said, "As you think, I'm going to invest in you."

Charles was calm on the surface, but he couldn't help but complain that I didn't think of anything.

But he thought it was strange that you, Borja, are also gladiators, and invest a ghost in me.

Borja seemed to see his thoughts and said with a smile: "After yesterday's farewell match, I will no longer be a slave, and will serve in the Nineteenth Legion in a few days."

"Your archery skills attracted a lot of people that day, so the commander of the legion asked me to get closer to you. I hope you can come to the 19th Legion in the future."

Charles just wanted to politely say "I will seriously consider it", but Borja said with a smile: "Of course, if other people give you a higher premium, you can go to them."

"We are all like this, they take what they give, and finally choose one to join, and the others will only consider themselves unlucky."

"Like me, those two female slaves were sent by the Tenth Legion. Anyway, I will take them with me when I leave."

He smiled smugly after he finished speaking, and Charles echoed with a smile.

Then Charles asked strangely, "Aren't you angry when I robbed you of your show the other day?"

Borja smiled and shook his head, and said indifferently: "If it is someone else, maybe it will, but it doesn't matter to me, anyway, a day or two late for the farewell match is not a problem."

"I still have it all my life. There's no need to be angry with you for a day or two, especially since I can't beat you."

Charles listened and laughed, feeling that this guy was a little interesting.

Borja picked up a few figs and ate them, chewing and saying, "Actually, the Nineteenth Legion is the poorest of all the legions in the Empire, and they don't have much money. They just persuaded the Chamber of Commerce that originally sponsored me before I left. I'll just sponsor you later."

Charles raised his brows and couldn't help asking, "What do I need to do then?"

Borja said: "Go to the gold level quickly, usually use what they provide when you perform, and they will give you some bonuses if you win."

Charles nodded and said, "That's not bad. It just so happened that I've had enough of the **** that Mr. Hozenproz provided. If the bow and arrow were better, my performance could be doubled that day."

"Really?!" Borja sat up suddenly, "You can really do it?"

Charles didn't understand why he was so excited, but replied: "It is true, but the chickens may need to be replaced by larger geese."

"Excellent!" Borja shouted with joy, "You must come to our Nineteenth Legion, and I will fight for you a centurion position!"

"When the time comes, you don't have much to do. As long as you shoot the leader of the barbarians, the next thing is our business!"

"As soon as their leader dies, it will stop before a new leader is elected."

Charles asked him with a smile, "Looks like you like the Nineteenth Legion very much."

"Of course!" Borja answered proudly, puffing out his chest, "because my grandfather was a soldier of the Nineteenth Legion, and my father was also a soldier of the Nineteenth Legion, and I joined the Nineteenth when I was sixteen. Legion!"

Charles asked him suspiciously, "Then why did you come to be a gladiator?"

Borja replied more proudly: "Because I slept with the wife of the Vice Legionnaire when I was eighteen!"

"Really?!" Charles' eyes widened in disbelief. How could you, a soldier, climb onto the bed of the deputy commander's wife.

Borja said calmly: "That's because every time I give the legion commander a lamp, he sees me being clever and lets me in too."

"As a result, no one took the wind that day, and we were discovered. The deputy army commander had no choice but to take my anger out."

"The legion commander said, as long as I make a name for myself in the arena, find me back!"

Charles was speechless for a long time, and could only eat meat and drink silently.

Borja suddenly said very seriously: "I gave you this house after I left. I think it will not take long for you to rise to gold."

"There used to be a businessman who went to the desert to do business and hired us to be his bodyguard. I saved his life, and he gave me the house. My mother-in-law is his maid, and I will take whatever I see. Which one to carry home."

Charles didn't know what to say. If he wanted someone's house, he would naturally go to work in the 19th Corps in the future.

But then he thought about it, he couldn't stay in the arena forever. If he found a place to live, it would look good there. It was better than a headless fly running around.

So he nodded in agreement with Borja.

It turned out that Borja was not a qualified lobbyist, because he went on to say: "You don't know, we have a hard time with the XIX Corps."

"There is less arable land, and there are many barbarians in the mountains. Sometimes we can't get enough to eat."

Charles' heart suddenly froze.

Borja immediately realized that he shouldn't have said this, and immediately turned the topic to the arena.

"Can't trust any gladiator in the arena ~www.wuxiaspot.com~" he said earnestly to Charles, "Especially not to have feelings for other people. "

Charles asked inexplicably, "Why?"

Borja looked directly into Charles' eyes and said solemnly: "Gladiators are always playthings, and you can't imagine their thoughts on making fun of them."

"I've seen too many over the years. Only one gladiator who is a brother can survive, and some who fall in love with a female gladiator are forced to fight to the death."

"You are still a stone, but you are always going to go to gold. When you go up, it means that someone is going to die, and who would want to die?"

"So someone will deceive you, frame you, or even poison you or something."

Charles' face sank immediately.

Seeing him like this, Borja immediately changed the subject, telling some jokes about Mr. Hozenploz and Jose, talking about the news in the imperial capital, and talking about what he saw and heard in various places when he was a bodyguard.
