The Iron Throne of Ice and Fire

Chapter 196 Initiative

Bitterbridge Camp, King's Camp.

Renly Baratheon was as fond of luxury as his brother Robert I, or perhaps he was habitually imitating his brother.

His tent was larger than an average hotel hall and filled with all kinds of luxury goods.

Renly, who was standing in front of the table, turned his head. When he saw the person coming, he couldn't help but be startled, and then his pupils suddenly narrowed.

He murmured: "Loras?"

The "Knight of Flowers" remained silent as he slowly walked towards King Renly who seemed to be standing there.

The candlelight flickered, and the "Knight of Flowers" and Lord Renly faced each other, standing silently for a long time.

King Renly shook his hand and gently stroked the "Knight of Flowers"'s cheek, his expression gradually turning sad.

His voice was gentle: "I miss Loras very much...Thank you, my queen."

She whispered, "I would do anything for you, my king."

King Renly stared at Margaery Tyrell dressed as Loras. The two siblings looked alike. The joy that rose in his heart at the moment he saw her was indescribable, but she was not him after all.

King Renly patted Margaery on the shoulder, his eyes filled with emotion as he looked at the other person through Margaery.

After taking a deep look, Renly turned around, turned his back to Margaery, and said calmly: "Queen Margaery, I will keep my promise, you will always be my queen."

Margery's eyes trembled slightly, and her fingers slightly bent.

Renly thought to himself and continued: "Sermy Selmy left King's Landing and swore to continue serving the true king. I thought he would defect to me, but he seemed to have disappeared, and no one knew his whereabouts. Bree Ni's cloak was originally intended for Ser Selmy...Margaery, do you think he went to Dragonstone?"

Margaery put her arms around Renly and pressed her face against his broad back.

Renly's body became very stiff, and Margaery quickly let go of him: "My lord, you need an heir."

As she spoke, Margaery walked up to Renly with light steps, and continued: "I can be your queen during the day, and I can become my brother at night."

Margaery's moist eyes stared at Renly, who maintained a calm expression, and murmured: "I will become more and more like him."

After Margaery finished speaking, Renly seemed a little moved.

She continued: "For you, I am willing to do it."

Renly hugged Margaery suddenly, his movement was a little rough, and her lower back hit the table, but the little rose stared at him tightly, not showing a trace of pain.

Renly lowered his head, and Margaery gently closed her eyelids.

Time was passing, and Margaery did not feel the warmth she expected. Renly suddenly let go of Margaery and took a step back.

Renly said with difficulty: "I...can't do it."

Margaery's eyes still looked at her gently, showing no other bad emotions, which made Renly secretly relieved.

There was some apology on Little Rose's face: "Your Majesty the King, your vassals are waiting for children who combine the blood of Baratheon and Tyrell. As your queen, I don't have many choices."

After a pause, Little Rose moved closer, looked up at Renly, and said, "I just want to help you, my king."

Margaery's hand slowly pressed against Renly's chest, and Renly's body became stiff again.

"I have another way." Little Rose said, while retracting her hand naturally.

Renly's relaxed face tightened again: "Please give me some time, Margaery."

Margaery didn't insist anymore, she showed a charming smile and tapped her chin. She turned her back to Renly, seemingly interested in the map on the table.

Seeing Margaery's back, Renly's Adam's apple rolled, but it quickly returned to normal.

Margery looked at the map with "interest" for a while, but secretly sighed in her heart, feeling powerless.

Margaery stroked her light brown curly hair, turned around, and said with a smile: "Your Majesty the King, I will go back first, and you should rest early."

Just as Margaery was about to leave, Renly suddenly said: "Queen Margaery, when I sit on the Iron Throne, you will have children, I promise."

Margaery paused. She smiled like a flower and gave Renly a gentle salute: "I am looking forward to that day. Thank you, my king."

…………

Outside the tent, the moonlight was like water, reflecting in every corner of the camp.

Margaery raised her eyes and looked at the night sky. The stars in the sky were like bright pearls, shining with weak but firm light.

After a while, Margaery withdrew her gaze, took steps forward with her hands in hand holding her skirt, and her maids and guards gathered around her.

…………

Golden Rose Camp.

After Margaery entered her tent, she saw Lady Olenna sitting on a leather folding chair.

"Grandma." Little Rose called.

Mrs. Olenna looked at her granddaughter with her cloudy eyes and waved: "My Margaery, come here quickly."

Little Rose trotted away like she did when she was a child, and her skinny grandmother reassured her.

"Sit, sit."

Margaery took her grandmother's hand and sat down.

Mrs. Olenna patted the back of Margaery's hand and said: "My Margaery, you know what you want. You are much smarter than I was back then... When I was young, I was obsessed with my idiot husband. Thinking that she is the happiest woman, she is willing to help Tyrell."

As she spoke, Lady Olenna pondered for a while, then continued: "Just like what our Boar Duke does now for the beautiful king, he regards himself as a bride."

Margaery, who listened carefully, couldn't help but pursed her lips.

Mrs. Olenna patted the back of Margaery's hand again and said: "My idiot husband fell off the cliff while hunting falcons. I asked why, and they told me that he kept staring at the sky and didn't pay attention at all. He just can’t turn his head around the horse underneath him!”

She sighed and continued: "My Margery, you are just like me. You also met a husband who couldn't turn around."

Margaery spoke quickly, as if she was making a promise: "Grandma, I will be pregnant with Renly's heir, and he just promised me..."

As she spoke, Margaery stopped speaking, her expression slightly uneasy.

Lady Olenna asked: "What did the beautiful king promise? Tell me."

Margaery looked at her grandmother with her beautiful eyes: "He promised that after he sits on the Iron Throne, he will let me conceive a child."

Grandmother asked kindly: "My Margery, do you notice something?"

Margery hesitated and said frankly: "I'm worried that he won't be able to fulfill his promise."

Lady Olenna said angrily: "After Lord Boar put the crown on Lord Renly, did he want to lead the Golden Rose by the nose?"

The Queen of Thorns was very angry: "Only fools believe a man's tongue!"

After a pause, she added: "You can't trust a woman's tongue, my Margaery."

Margaery reassured: "Grandma, I will handle it well, please trust me."

"The old woman needs no comfort."

Lady Olenna continued: "The Golden Rose never gives up the initiative."
