The Legend of Fatality

Chapter 868: Duke's Castle

Bai En glanced back from the standing wall. That castle is a place where people can have nightmares. It does what it can to maintain Prague's reputation as a haunted city. It does a lot of things. Its walls are as strong as any fortress in the world, but there are many strange sculptures carved on it.

The stone was carved into a terrible head. The huge and twisted figure supports the buttress. The dragon's head tilted out at the top of the tower. This is like an art gallery created by a crazy sculptor. Bai En would like to know what kind of person came up with such a plan

Around the castle, the white walls and red tile roofs in other parts of the city are a relief. But even to Bain, they are strange and show an ominous omen.

The roof of the building here is relatively high and the **** is relatively steep, undoubtedly to make it easier for the snow in winter to slide down from above. The spire of the temple has a minaret and an onion-shaped dome. This is not the architectural style of Fatalin Island, not even the style of the Marnus Empire.

The guttural voice of the surrounding soldiers told Bai En that he was far from home. He feels like an outsider here. The strangeness brought about by this city made him believe the horror story about this place.

It is said that since the last time the army of evil gods besieged Prague and the city was captured and looted, this place has been haunted and all kinds of weird things will happen here.

It is said that on some nights, when the largest moon becomes round, the soul of the dead will wander through the streets, and sometimes the stone statues of the buildings will become active. Even some new statues may emerge from the stone.

Or some gargoyle statues have appeared in places that have not appeared before. Under normal circumstances, Bai En will find this unbelievable, but the atmosphere here tells him that at least some of these ancient stories are true. Thinking of this, he shivered and quickly looked away from the city.

On the vast plains around the city, the farmers are still working, harvesting crops from the long and narrow arable land, and driving the cattle into the city. There is a fanatical sense of diligence, and people are frantically collecting the last meager harvest. They work hard as if their efforts can determine their own lives.

Bai En thinks this may be true. If the siege is coming-no, there is no if. When the siege comes—every bite of food is precious. This is what Mrs. Kassler knew exactly. They lived all their lives on the border between the land of humanity and the land occupied by evil forces.

Bai En wondered if there was a farmer on Fatalin Island who could work so calmly if the war happened on Fatalin Island. He doubted this. Perhaps they have probably left the island long ago, their fields will be abandoned, and their crops will rot in the land. But if this evil army really goes to Fatalin Island, will there really be another place in the world that can escape? Bai En didn't know.

Bai En thought of another problem. Some areas of the Marnus Empire are still a long way from the front line of the war against the evil army. The Kingdom of Kaslov is the closest province and human eternal to the Marnus Empire Fortress between the enemy. But even so, there are still some people in the Marnus Empire who doubt whether these warriors of evil gods really exist. This is an extravagant idea and cannot be bought here.

He glanced around again, a little relieved. The crucible of burning oil has been placed in the aisle of the city wall. A huge ballista erected from the top of the tower on the city wall.

Baine doubts that Fatalin Island, or even any army that the Marnus Empire can gather can occupy the city, but the upcoming army is by no means an ordinary mortal army. He knew that there were monsters, beasts, evil wizards, and crazy warriors who were gifted by the dark forces to fight. Where this army of evil gods is rampant, evil magic, plague, corruption and decay will always be their allies.

To make matters worse, Bai En knows that in this city, the enemies approaching are likely to have powerful allies. There are many admirers of evil gods, not all of them are aberrant, nor are they all wearing gorgeous black armor belonging to the dark warriors.

There are too many ordinary people involved in order to get the short-sighted benefits, or some kind of commitment. Some workers there may be plotting to open the city gate on a dark night. Among the noble garrison captains, there is a possibility that one of them is conspiring to poison him, or lead them to the enemy's ambush circle.

Based on his own experience, Bai En knows such things are not uncommon. But he pushed the pessimistic thought aside. Now is not a good time to think about them.

He looked down at his hand and was surprised to see how stable it was. He could not determine when he could do this, whether it was during his apprenticeship in the Black Tower, or when he fought around after the establishment of Fatalin, or since he and Guerrero started wandering around. But he has indeed changed.

Once upon a time, as long as he knew something on the plain was burning down that small town ~ www.wuxiaspot.com ~ he would feel uneasy. Now he could easily stand here and discuss this calmly with Grerogan. Perhaps it is not that the admirers of the evil gods are crazy. Maybe it was him.

His sharp black eyes saw the movement on the horizon. Dust cloud, he thought. The riders rode fast, getting closer and closer to the city. He looked up at the guard tower overlooking the gate. There are observers with telescopes on it. One of them raised the horn to his lips and blew for a long time. Other towers made the same sound.

As soon as the horn sounded, the city bell began to ring louder. The workers downstairs calmly picked up the tools and walked towards the gate. In the field outside, the farmers collected the last radish in the basket, carried it, and walked towards the gate. The speed at which people drove the flock into the city was significantly accelerated. Behind him, Bai En can hear the sound of armed men running towards the wall.

"This Duke may be crazy, but there is nothing wrong with the efficiency of his guards' execution of orders," Bai En said subconsciously, and then hoped he did not say this.

Even if he is just repeating what most people have said, it is very unwise to question the rationality of a ruler in a war-torn city. Acceptable speech in war and acceptable speech in peace are two different things.

"If you say so, maybe." Grerogan replied casually. It sounds as if Baeen's words did not impress him, but he is not interested in anything human.

But Bai En understands that this is the case with older races. They will never admit that there can be something worse today than it was two thousand years ago. Bai En understands that they are a group of very lonely, conservative and proud people.
