The Little Superman of Hogwarts
#6 - 第6章 「分院仪式」
The little wizards began to stare at the castle as the doors quietly opened, and Professor McGonagall appeared in the doorway.
Klee was overjoyed, as what followed was Hogwarts' annual tradition—the Sorting Ceremony!
The new students followed Professor McGonagall into the Great Hall of Hogwarts. Klee, Hermione, and the other two moved closer together. Klee's height gave him a slight advantage, offering a sense of security.
"In a few minutes, the Sorting Ceremony will be held in front of the entire school. I suggest you all take this time to compose yourselves and look presentable," Professor McGonagall said.
Then, Professor McGonagall's gaze fixed on a large boy in front of her, a large fellow who was already nearly one meter seventy-five in height. It must be Neville, the one who lost his toad on the train; his cloak was on backward.
Professor McGonagall surveyed the group, and suddenly noticed Klee and the other three deliberately standing at the back of the crowd. Her eyes lit up, and she gave Klee a meaningful look, as if to say, "You'll be sorry later."
Professor McGonagall then left the room, and Klee and the other new students waited in the small chamber.
Suddenly, a group of pale ghosts emerged from the wall behind the room! The little wizards in the room almost screamed.
Hermione was so frightened that she shrank directly behind Klee, clutching his wizard robe tightly.
"Oh, it's the new students!" a fat ghost said to them with a smile. "I suppose you're here for the test?"
According to his memory, these people should be going to cause trouble for Peeves, but Klee wanted to take the opportunity to try something.
Klee fearlessly shouted at the group of ghosts, "You rude bunch! What if you scare the little wizards by barging into the hall like this?"
The ghosts were surprised and looked at each other. They were just following their usual route to find Peeves, but it was clear that these new students were the newcomers.
"Hey, little wizard, I think when you're mocking us for being rude, you'd better be polite yourself. I'm at least dozens of times older than you. Shouldn't you respect your elders?" said a nearly headless knight—this was Nearly Headless Nick.
"Do you have even a shred of shame?" Klee continued to taunt the ghosts.
"What does it matter to you whether we have shame or not!" "That's right, that's right, meddlesome idiot wizard!" "You better not die, or I'll give you a good beating!"
Klee continued to unleash on the ghosts: "Even Muggles know that roads and sidewalks should be separate. You ghosts occupying human living spaces is one thing, but you dare to mock Hogwarts' future hopes, a group of seven or eight o'clock suns!
Are you ghosts so rude? I think I should write an open letter to Headmaster Dumbledore, demanding that these ghosts avoid appearing in the sight of any humans! Otherwise, these long-vanished fellows should be obliterated with spells!"
"Feel my fist! Now I will eliminate you in the name of the moon!" Klee rushed towards the nearest ghost.
With the first punch, the ghost was actually sent flying to the ceiling.
"Hogwarts' brave ones! This may be Hogwarts' test for us! Extend your fists and give them a good beating!" Klee activated the skill [Instigate]...
Hermione was the first to respond to Klee's instigation, punching a ghost hard. The poor female ghost was also knocked into the wall.
"Could this really be Hogwarts' entrance ceremony?" "Doesn't look like it!" "Who cares! Let's beat them up first, I was so scared just now, those ghosts will never go home again."
With Hermione's attack, the scene seemed to be getting out of control. Little wizards joined the farce one after another, and the scope eventually grew larger and larger.
More than ten minutes later, almost all the little wizards were punching the twenty or so magical souls.
At this moment, in the Headmaster's office at Hogwarts, Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall were looking at a piece of paper—the list of new students.
Professor McGonagall said, "Do you really believe in the existence of a savior?"
"I'm not sure, but I believe in prophecies. Even if it's not a savior, it will be a great person!" Dumbledore was also touching each name on the list.
"Could it be him?" Professor McGonagall said, pointing to Harry Potter.
"Perhaps it is, perhaps it isn't, who knows?" Dumbledore glanced at McGonagall and said, "What do you think?"
"I've discovered another possible person!" McGonagall said, pointing to a name on the paper. "He comes from a Muggle family, but he actually knows some things about the magical world, and I sensed a huge amount of magic on him!"
"A Seer?" Dumbledore wondered.
"Perhaps it is, perhaps it isn't, who knows?!" Professor McGonagall said playfully.
"Christian Ferman, a good name!" Dumbledore said. "Then let's see what he's like... Come, let's begin our Sorting Ceremony!"
By the time Professor McGonagall entered the room, the scene was already out of control. Under the roars of Professor McGonagall and a group of professors, the chaotic scene gradually stopped. Professor McGonagall quickly figured out the whole story from the chattering voices of the ghosts and little wizards.
"Mr. Ferman!" Professor McGonagall's face turned ashen. "You will be deducted a full forty points!"
"I object!" Klee immediately retorted. "It's not our fault. It's clearly the fault of these ghosts. They see us as easy to bully and deliberately passed by here to scare us!"
"Alright, I don't want to say more. Form a line and follow me!" Professor McGonagall was quite angry, because this farce had delayed the Sorting Ceremony by half an hour, and the older students outside were talking about it.
Klee stood at the end of the line, with Ron, Hermione, and Harry in front of him.
"Feels good, doesn't it?" Klee said to Hermione.
"It's quite refreshing indeed!" Hermione said with a smile.
"I feel less nervous all of a sudden, thank you!" Harry said.
This was the real reason Klee instigated them. These little wizards were too nervous. At this time, a slight outlet would become an exhaust pipe.
Klee not only eliminated the little wizards' nervousness but also became a leader silently.
Inside the huge sky-domed dining hall, hundreds of people were densely seated, distributed around four long tables. At the end of the long tables were separate teacher's tables.
"It's so beautiful!" Harry Potter exclaimed, looking up at the dome.
"'Hogwarts, A History' mentions that magic has been cast here, making it look like there's no roof," Hermione explained.
It was hard to believe that there was really a ceiling up there, and it was also hard to believe that the roof of the dining hall wasn't open-air.
Professor McGonagall gently placed a four-legged stool in front of the first-year students, and then placed a pointed wizard's hat on the stool. This legendary Sorting Hat was patched and worn, as if it hadn't been washed for hundreds of years.
The Sorting Hat seemed to have been programmed, and it began to sing the song it had prepared for a year: "You may not think I'm pretty, but don't judge by appearances. If you can find a hat prettier than me, I'll eat myself…"
In the song, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin were introduced.
Professor McGonagall walked to the little wizards and said, picking up a roll of parchment, "Now, when I call your name, you put on the hat. Sit on the stool and wait to be sorted!"
"But I must tell you in advance that your honor is tied to your house. Every student's score will be added to the House Cup, and Mr. Feynman has already had forty points deducted in advance!"
"Wow!" "What does that mean?" The older students didn't know what had happened and were discussing it.
"Silence!" Professor McGonagall said, "Now, let the sorting begin! Hannah Abbott!"
【Iron Hat King · Hannah!】Keli complained in his heart.
Hannah Abbott always comes first on any alphabetically ordered list because her last name starts with ABB. In countless Harry Potter fanfictions, only when Hannah appears does the book become considered 'pure-blooded'!
"Hufflepuff!" Hannah had barely put on the hat when the Sorting Hat shouted it out.
Keli remembered a legend he had heard in his previous life: Initially, the founders of Hogwarts were unwilling to accept all the young wizards. They would issue notices and conduct sorting. Brave children would enter Gryffindor, intelligent children would enter Ravenclaw, children with strong bloodlines would enter Slytherin, and those with perseverance would enter Hufflepuff. But if they failed to pass, these young wizards would be sent back to where they came from.
But Hufflepuff disagreed with this approach. He decided that his house would accept all the students rejected by the other three. Hufflepuff House has always been the house with the most students among the four houses. And it has always been the house with the worst grades—because a large part of the students he takes in are the 'leftovers' of other houses.
【I wonder where I'll be sorted. Hufflepuff would be best, as it would be the easiest for me to coast along. And the students of Hufflepuff wouldn't care about points being deducted.】 Keli thought.
"Hermione Granger!" When it was Hermione's turn, Keli felt something was wrong—Granger was clearly a name towards the end, how did it jump ahead of him?
Keli glanced at the parchment with his X-ray vision. Sure enough, Professor McGonagall had deliberately skipped his name…
Keli's current X-ray vision wasn't like the adult Superman's, which could penetrate walls and the ground. Keli's X-ray vision could only penetrate a few sheets of paper at most, and he couldn't even see through clothing.
"Gryffindor!" Hermione's sorting was not surprising. After being sorted, Hermione looked back at Keli, perhaps hoping to be sorted into the same house.
After a few more people, a noteworthy name appeared.
"Harry Potter!" Professor McGonagall called out as usual.
"Buzz…" The entire hall was like hundreds of green bean flies had flown in.
"Which Harry Potter is it?"
"Is it that person?"
"The Boy Who Lived?" The voices of discussion rose and fell.
Harry slowly walked to the chair, put on the hat, and after dozens of seconds: "Gryffindor!"
The Gryffindor house cheered, and Ron's older brother, Percy, the prefect, stood up and gave him a hug.
Afterwards, Harry was surrounded by a group of people, and everyone was looking at the scar covered on Harry's forehead.
As the number of students gradually decreased, Ron also entered Gryffindor, and in the blink of an eye, only Keli was left.
"Christian Feynman!" Professor McGonagall said, but before Keli could walk to the chair, Professor McGonagall said, "If you were given the choice again, would you still choose to argue with the ghosts, correct?"
"Of course!" Keli replied without hesitation.
Professor McGonagall smiled and said softly, "Good little fellow, go ahead!"
【Am I the last one? Too disappointing. Hogwarts's enrollment is too small. I could continue singing for three more hours!】 The moment Keli put on the hat, the Sorting Hat's voice rang in his mind.
【Perhaps you can let Dumbledore widen the admission range to the entire Europe, plus our African brothers.】 Keli suggested a bad idea.
【The admission work is not done by me, I am only responsible for sorting. Well, which house do you want to go to?】
【Perhaps Hufflepuff?】 Keli replied in his heart.
【That's really not a good idea! You are strong, resilient, and full of courage. What's rare is that you even have an intelligent mind. You should be sorted into…】
"Headmaster's Office!!!" The Sorting Hat shouted.
The whole place suddenly fell silent… They all suspected their ears.
"What did the Sorting Hat just say? Headmaster's Office?" The students discussed one after another.
"Headmaster's Office? Do we have such a house?" Not only the students, but also the professors were discussing it.
An old man with an extremely exaggerated beard appeared beside Keli, obviously with a look of doubt: "Mr. Sorting Hat, did you just say Headmaster's Office?"
That's Dumbledore! Without anyone else introducing him, Keli could judge for himself—inside Hogwarts, who else but the headmaster could apparate at will.
"I just wanted to call you, you lazy fellow, out to discuss something…" The Sorting Hat looked at Dumbledore: "Can we admit more young wizards to Hogwarts? I don't have enough fun every year!"
Dumbledore rubbed his forehead with his hand. If this were a two-dimensional world, you would definitely be able to see the cross-shaped veins on Dumbledore's temples.
"I think we should perhaps change the way we sort next year. After all, a hat that has been used for hundreds of years, that is already senile, will break down, won't it?" Dumbledore said.
"Okay, I was just joking, don't be so nervous!" The Sorting Hat laughed awkwardly and shouted in a loud voice: "Gryffindor!"
Keli took off the hat and walked towards Harry and the others. Thus, the sorting ceremony ended.
The content that followed was unremarkable, nothing more than Dumbledore reading out some school rules and the students eating a big meal. If there was anything noteworthy, it was that Professor Quirrell appeared in front of Keli for the first time.
Keli really spent a lot of effort restraining his hand. He really wanted to take off that ridiculous hat and let everyone suddenly see Voldemort's face… That would definitely turn tonight into a fun night… wouldn't it?
