The Monkey King

Chapter 787: Mother

The next moment, faces flashed past. Xuanzang's mother, Xuanzang's father, Xuanzang's grandfather, Master Faming, Elder Jinchi, Emperor Taizong... everyone repeated the same sentence to him invariably.

"It is better to become a Buddha than to live in a world of suffering..."

It was repeated like a mantra, like sharp knives piercing Xuanzang's heart.

At that moment, the pain from the depths of his soul spread along his blood vessels to every corner of his body. Xuanzang's entire body was already a little unsustainable, and he could no longer even breathe. The pain was unbearable. He covered his ears tightly, staggered, staggered, and almost fell to his knees.

No one can see Xuanzang's inner struggle, and no one understands Xuanzang's pain at this moment, just like no one understands his determination to go westward from the beginning until now.

Everyone just stared blankly, without any intention or power.

In the main hall, Tathagata's lips were slightly open and he kept chanting silently: "It is better to become a Buddha than to become a Buddha in the world of suffering..."

"No...no--!" Xuanzang shouted out loud: "The poor monk has become a Buddha, the poor monk has become a Buddha, how can all sentient beings be liberated!"

The Ten Thousand Buddha Crowns have fallen to the ground and rolled slightly. In the breeze, his monk's robe was fluttering gently. Tears welled up in my eyes.

The look of losing his composure was something I had never seen before. Even when he first learned the truth about killing his father and killing his mother, he was never like this.

Everyone was staring blankly, even the monkeys. The big stone in my heart that I had put down was raised again.

"If all living beings can be saved from ignorance, why would you come?" Tathagata asked.

Xuanzang trembled slightly and curled up on the ground. He opened his eyes, which had long been invisible, and still moved westward little by little. He kept repeating the words he said to Emperor Taizong in the Tang Dynasty Palace that day: "If the Buddhas in the West don't save sentient beings, I will save them... If the Buddhas in the West don't send sutras, I will go and get them... sentient beings don't seek the Dharma. I will send it away... if sentient beings do not save me, I will save all sentient beings..."

"When you are trying to save sentient beings, what do you use to save them?" Tathagata took a deep breath, raised his head slightly, closed his eyes and said, "Eight hundred years ago, you questioned my teacher's Dharma and wanted to argue with my teacher. Why? Master, I follow you. As a result, you fell into a demonic barrier and lost the light of the Buddha. You could have re-cultivated for a hundred years and ascended to the Buddha's throne, but you chose to fall into reincarnation and experience the suffering of all sentient beings..."

"After eight hundred years, ten reincarnations, and all the sufferings in the world, I thought you would realize your mistake and turn around, but in the end, you chose to go west to argue with my teacher again."

“On your journey westward, who did you cross, and what path did you attain?”

At this moment, the voice no longer only reached Xuanzang, but had reached the ears of every living being in the three realms.

There was silence in the Lingxiao Palace, all the monsters looked at each other, and the Buddhas in the sky had no expression on their faces. The four Buddhas in the pavilion also did not say a word.

Everyone was listening quietly, eyes widening slightly.

"Chechi Country should have been a quiet and peaceful land, but because of your arrival, killings broke out. Who did you save?"

"Ask France. The king was seeking the law, but he sought death. The people believed in you, but they fell into reincarnation. In the next life, they will start from scratch again. Who did you save?"

"Everything happened because of you, not to mention releasing the monster monkey under the Five Elements Mountain." With a faint sigh, Tathagata continued: "Look at how this world has been destroyed. Is all this possible? Isn't it your original intention from the beginning? If it weren't for your obsession, even though this world is not perfect, it would not be like this. Good flowers can also bear evil fruits."

Tathagata's words resounded throughout the three realms, and everyone was listening quietly.

In the Tushita Palace, Laojun lowered his head and gently rubbed his fingers.

In the Nuwa Temple, Subhuti caressed the emerald wall and waited silently.

In the wilderness, the Nine-Headed Insect, which was covered in wounds, slowly raised its head with the support of Princess All Saints.

In the dense forest, Bai Su, wearing tattered clothes, looked around blankly.

At this moment, Qingxin is rushing to Xiniu Hezhou as fast as possible, and Yang Chan is also rushing to Xiniu Hezhou as fast as possible with the multi-eyed monster, the Peng Demon King, and the Lion and Camel King.

Xuanzang curled up and murmured in a low voice: "Even...even if there are possible consequences, shouldn't we attain enlightenment? Shouldn't we seek a future of universal salvation for all sentient beings?"

"Yes." Tathagata replied categorically: "But the premise is that you have the ability to control all this. But do you have it? You failed to control this monster monkey, but you released him. You failed The situation in the three realms has been affected, but one stone has caused thousands of waves. To this day, you still don't admit that all this is caused by your recklessness? "

Xuanzang gritted his teeth and trembled slightly. At this moment, there was no trace of blood on his lips. Beads of sweat slowly slipped from his forehead.

He slowly stretched out a hand and dug his fingers deeply into the soil. The pain in his body and the pain in his heart were mixed together, which was already beyond his endurance. However, he did not faint. Because Tathagata is supporting him with his spiritual consciousness.

He was forcing him.

All Buddhas want a result, so why don't Tathagata want it?

In the distance, the monkey raised his head and smiled slowly.

What a coincidence, what a wonderful thing. In the beginning, wasn't it because of such arguments that he lost his Taoist mind and lost his cultivation?

Slowly opening his eyes, Tathagata continued: "The world is turbid, and how can it be changed by cleverness? From the day you chose to fall into reincarnation, you have lost your supernatural powers and lost your ability. Losing control of the situation. Losing the possibility of enlightenment and universal salvation.”

In pain, Xuanzang cried out: "But, I dare to ask the Buddha, if the poor monk does not fall into reincarnation, how can he understand the suffering of all living beings, how can he regain his obsession, and how can he be saved?"

"Yes." Tathagata smiled faintly and continued: "So, this is a dead end in itself. Only by letting go of obsession can you become a Buddha. Only by becoming a Buddha can you have supernatural powers. With supernatural powers, you can have a long life and transcend the world. Only by broadening our horizons can we be able to enlighten the world. But becoming a Buddha itself means giving up enlightenment and choosing self-education."

Xuanzang opened his mouth slightly, and blue veins appeared on his forehead. He was shaking and his eyes were wide. Not a word could come out.

In the pavilion, the four Buddhas stood quietly.

Zhengfa Ming Tathagata stared at the tea cup on the table and let out a long sigh.

"You want to go west and get scriptures. I'm telling you now, there is no scripture you want on the way westward. There is no scripture you want either in my Daleiyin Temple. There has never been one in the Three Realms, and there will never be one in the future. There is the sutra you want. Let’s stop here. It’s better to become a Buddha.”

"No... a poor monk cannot become a Buddha... a poor monk... cannot become... a Buddha..."

Under the long intertwining of physical and mental pain, he had gradually become numb.

Seeing this, Tathagata couldn't help but smile slowly.

"Close your eyes and cover your ears? Only those who are obsessed can listen without hearing or turn a blind eye like this. But can you wither your heart? Once your heart dries up, you will become a Buddha. If your heart is there, you will not be able to hide from my questioning! "

Xuanzang didn't answer, he couldn't answer. He could only struggle and still move towards Lingshan bit by bit.

The rocks tore through his monk's robe, and the blood seeping out fell into the dust, fainting bit by bit.

At this moment, everyone already understood that the journey to the west was a complete failure. The rest is just a fight between trapped beasts.

But, what can anyone do?

Everyone could only wait quietly, waiting for the final result of heading west. Even the monkey slowly closed his eyes.

However, at this moment, a flash of light flashed through. Even Tathagata opened his eyes slightly. An illusory shadow appeared behind Xuanzang.

It has a human head, a snake body, and an extremely huge body, but it is either bright or dark and has no substance.

Everyone was stunned.

Nuwa!

In the temple, Subhuti pursed his lips and smiled slowly, his eyes gradually becoming moist as he stared at the jade wall.

In front of everyone, Nuwa stretched out her hands and condensed a ball of light in the air, covering Xuanzang's body.

"My child, let me, as a mother, protect you through this last journey. Do everything you want to do. You are right. No one can deny you, even if he is the Buddha, he is absolutely sure. , same thing."

In an instant, all the pain in Xuanzang's body disappeared, and all the hallucinations dissipated!
