The Mountain of Ice and Fire

#15 - Make a mistake

Teams of guard soldiers began to appear on the city walls.

These men had much better cloaks, armor, and weaponry than the mine guards.

Most of the mine guard soldiers did not have a complete set of steel armor, relying mainly on leather, bracers, and leggings, and even high-quality helmets were rare.

The city gates opened, and a troop of men and horses rushed out over the drawbridge, led by a middle-aged man with a square face, beard, shoulder-length brown hair, and eyes like stars. The banner behind him featured a vivid peacock displaying its plumage proudly on a cheese-colored background.

A displaying peacock, the crest of House Sarwyck. However, compared to their family motto, 'Unsurpassed,' Gregor couldn't help but feel it was inappropriate.

How could a displaying peacock represent 'Unsurpassed'?

Swords and battleaxes would be more fitting for the motto 'Unsurpassed,' right?

Unsurpassed?!

Gregor's heart stirred. Because of their low level of literacy, House Clegane, although bearing three black dogs as their sigil, had no family motto. The four words 'Unsurpassed' were very fitting for his immense strength and superb swordsmanship.

Since House Sarwyck dared to call themselves 'Unsurpassed' with just a displaying peacock, why couldn't House Clegane use 'Unsurpassed' as their family motto with three black dogs?

Although Gregor was a transmigrated engineering student, his literary knowledge was not lacking.

Unsurpassed was precisely what he thought in his heart.

Compared to the civilization of this agricultural era, the university engineering student from the electronic technology era believed that his knowledge was several civilization levels higher than everyone else in this world.

"Lord Gregor," the man reined in his horse, his expression revealing nervousness and vigilance, "Why have you captured my seventh brother?"

"He kidnapped my daughter, Julie, from Clegane Keep, and he and his five brothers raped her for more than ten days, Addam. I want to see your father and demand justice. Tygett Sarwyck, get out here!" Gregor roared, his voice like rolling thunder, echoing through the mountains: Get out here! Here! Here!

Addam Sarwyck, the eldest of Tygett Sarwyck's seven sons, the heir to Silverhill, and the future head of House Sarwyck.

Addam's face changed drastically. He had never heard of Gregor having a daughter, but with Gregor's infamous history of raping women everywhere, it wouldn't be strange if he had a few bastards. Addam exchanged glances with his brothers behind him, and all of them looked deflated and frightened.

This matter was indeed very troublesome.

Getting involved with the great villain of the Westerlands; Alvett was lucky to be alive.

Addam saw the drooping head of his brother on horseback, bound hand and foot, looking like he had suffered a lot. He was surrounded by Gregor's men and riding with a grinning fellow.

"Lord Gregor, if this is true, we will take responsibility. Please come into the city, and let House Sarwyck first prepare a banquet for you. Once the matter is investigated, we will definitely give you a fair resolution," Addam said carefully.

"You are not worthy to speak to me. Tell your father to get out here."

Addam tried his best to restrain himself. Gregor had already told his father to get out three times: "Lord Gregor, it's not that my father is being rude, but my father is not in the castle."

"Oh? Then where did he go?"

"Lord Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King in King's Landing, died suddenly of illness. After King Robert Baratheon held the funeral, he summoned nobles and courtiers from all over to accompany him north to Winterfell, the castle of Lord Eddard Stark of the North. My father received orders from Lord Tywin Lannister of Casterly Rock, as a minister representing the Westerlands, to go to King's Landing to see King Robert."

Gregor's heart skipped a beat, knowing that the story of A Song of Ice and Fire that he knew had begun.

Lysa Tully, the wife of Lord Jon Arryn, poisoned her husband at the instigation of Littlefinger, Petyr Baelish. King Robert's small council was missing a Hand of the King. King Robert Baratheon went north to Winterfell to invite his best brother, Eddard Stark, to come south to King's Landing to be his Hand of the King. The Hand's badge of office, worn on the left breast of his official robes, was a golden hand, exquisitely crafted, lifelike, and several inches in size, so the Hand was also known as the King's Hand.

The Hand of the King was second only to the king and above all others, the chief advisor and enforcer of the King on the Iron Throne in King's Landing. The duties of the Hand of the King included issuing orders on behalf of the King, exercising power, commanding the armies, administering justice, and convening the small council to discuss and manage the country's internal and external affairs. When the King was unable to attend court due to illness or absence, he would sit on the King's seat—the Iron Throne—as acting ruler.

His power was the greatest among the courtiers, reaching the pinnacle of officialdom.

Eddard Stark of the North was a rare honest and honorable man. His unyielding character would bring him death and his family destruction. He had a strong prejudice against House Lannister of the Westerlands and deeply loathed Gregor himself.

Robert went north, Eddard went south, and the great chaos of the Seven Kingdoms began.

"Oh, Count Tygett is not here, then you are in charge of Silverhill."

"Yes, Lord."

"Since you are the acting head of the family, fine, first take your damned brother away, and then I will settle the score between House Sarwyck and my daughter."

Addam Sarwyck was stunned. He did not expect Gregor to agree to release his seventh brother so readily. The other brothers were also surprised and delighted. They were also familiar with the rules among nobles. Hearing Gregor say this, he just wanted money.

Looking at the thin and gaunt little girl on horseback, with dirty and torn clothes, it was clear that she was just an insignificant bastard daughter of Gregor's. Whether this daughter lived or died was of no concern to Gregor. His real purpose was to get money.

The Sarwyck family had no shortage of money. Behind Silverhill lay hundreds of miles of mountains, full of gold and silver mines. It was no exaggeration to say that the hundreds of miles of mountains were his family's accumulated wealth.

"Thank you, Lord, for your understanding. Our family will definitely compensate according to your requirements," Addam Sarwyck said quickly, expressing his gratitude. He signaled with his eyes, and two brothers urged their horses forward to bring back their seventh brother, Alvett.

Gregor swung his greatsword: "Get lost, the two of you are not qualified. Addam, you come, and I will give you Alvett."

"Yes, Lord!"

Addam rode forward, Gregor stepped aside, and suddenly reached out, gently lifting Addam off his saddle, as if a giant grabbing a child. His arm clamped down, and Addam's bones creaked all over his body, on the verge of falling apart, and he couldn't breathe.

The other brothers were shocked. Clang, clang, clang, a longsword was drawn, two spears were raised, and two battleaxes were held horizontally. More than a dozen guards drew their longswords in unison, the sword light flashing, filled with murderous intent.

Gregor paid no attention at all and shouted: "Alvett Knight is returned to you, but I will take Ser Addam back to Clegane Keep. Prepare one thousand gold dragons to redeem him."

Gregor drew his greatsword with a clang, and the greatsword was placed on Addam's neck: "Get out of the way, or I'll cut off his head."
