The Mountain of Ice and Fire
#961 - Gathering people
"Hey, Claude," a voice said.
Claude was sweeping the street with his head down. He looked up and saw a large man leaning against the wall.
The big man was disguised, but Claude recognized him at a glance as Jorah Mormont!
Claude couldn't believe it. He rubbed his eyes and looked again, and it was indeed Jorah Mormont.
Claude was both surprised and delighted, but he immediately lowered his head to sweep the ground, his eyes glancing towards the street.
There were several soldiers standing guard on the street.
Jorah Mormont slowly walked over.
"Don't stop, Jorah, be careful not to be spotted by the soldiers, or you and I will both be killed," Claude said.
Jorah Mormont didn't stop walking. "See you at the priest's house, Claude."
"Okay, has Her Majesty the Queen returned?"
"Yes."
"How many people did she bring back?"
"Six in total."
"Then be sure not to let Her Majesty the Queen show herself. Butcher King Cleon will kill her."
"We'll be careful. But don't worry too much, we have three dragons."
Claude was both surprised and delighted, his eyes shining. Jorah Mormont had already walked away.
Claude's brother was a scholar, one of the three elders in the council arranged by Daenerys.
The priest, scholar, and doctor were the council members left behind by Daenerys, also used to check and balance Butcher King Clyde. The priest, scholar, and doctor were all killed by Clyde. The scholar's younger brother, Claude, was also a scholar, but was left behind by the Butcher King to work as a street sweeper.
Daenerys needed Claude to become a member of her new council.
Council members were equivalent to the Hand of the King of the Magic Mountain, helping the king handle all government affairs. When the king was absent, the council handled government affairs, military affairs, and trade on behalf of the king.
The Prime Minister of Magic Mountain could exercise royal power on his behalf. In Astapor, the council exercised royal power on behalf of the king. The council was an organization, while the Prime Minister was an individual.
The system in Slaver's Bay was different from that in Westeros and the Nine Free Cities.

After Jorah Mormont and Daenerys entered the city, they first went to the priest's house, and then they each went out to find the families of the doctor and the scholar.
While Jorah Mormont found Claude and notified him to gather at the priest's house, Daenerys also found the doctor's family. The doctor's wife was still at home, but the doctor's daughter had been captured by King Clyde and taken into the royal pyramid as his slave maid.
Daenerys walked into the yard, and Mrs. Emily, who was drawing water in the yard, looked up and saw Her Majesty Queen Daenerys.
Emily staggered, almost falling into the well.
Daenerys quickly went over to support her.
"Your Majesty," Mrs. Emily was about to kneel, but Daenerys stopped her. "Madam, let's go inside first."
"Yes, Your Majesty, please allow me to close the courtyard door first."
Daenerys nodded and strode into the room. Emily ran over and closed the courtyard door.
In a hidden corner on the high wall of the neighbor's house, a man saw this scene.
Although he couldn't see clearly who the woman who came in was, Emily's excitement and the act of closing the courtyard door made him suspicious.
The man had long occupied Emily. At night, he always climbed over the courtyard wall to stay overnight. Mrs. Emily dared not speak out. Her husband was hanged by the Butcher King, and her daughter was turned into a slave by the Butcher King and occupied. She had been enduring the humiliation, just waiting for the day when Her Majesty the Queen returned.
Emily closed the courtyard door, quickly returned to the room, and closed the door again, then closed the windows.
The neighbor man looked at this scene and became even more suspicious. He quietly climbed onto the courtyard wall and jumped over. He tiptoed to the window, pricked up his ears, and listened to the conversation between the two women in the room.
"Mrs. Emily, you have suffered."
"Your Majesty, my daughter is still in Clyde's hands as a slave."
"I have returned, madam. Clyde will be brought to justice and publicly tried. Astapor will no longer allow slaves, and I will never leave again. I hope madam can agree to return to the palace and become my doctor, and also become a member of my council."
Emily and her husband were both doctors.
Emily agreed to Her Majesty the Queen's request.
"Your Majesty, how many troops did you bring back? Why don't I see your guards protecting you?"
"We have returned six people."
"Six people?" Emily's voice trembled. "Your Majesty, the soldiers in Astapor are all Clyde's loyalists."
"I have returned, and they will no longer listen to Clyde. Grey Worm, the leader of the Unsullied, has also returned to Astapor. I need you to go to Lewick and tell Grey Worm that I have returned."
"Yes, Your Majesty, I will go now."
"Be careful in everything."
"I'm fine, Your Majesty. You just wait here for my news, and I will be back soon."
"I'll go out with you and tell Grey Worm to come to the priest's house to see me."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Daenerys and Emily opened the door, and a man was standing in the yard, Winston Kaye, the neighbor next door.
Thump!
Winston knelt down: "Your Majesty, I am Winston Kaye. I swear to be loyal to Your Majesty until death. Please grant me an opportunity to be loyal and follow Your Majesty."
Daenerys's eyes flashed with coldness. How did this man appear? Was he following them? Or did he have other purposes?
Winston Kaye's attitude was respectful and his words were humble, but his expression flickered. He was paying attention to observe Daenerys's and Emily's expressions. He wanted to take this opportunity to seek a fortune and get a chance to be close to Her Majesty the Queen and gain wealth and glory; if Her Majesty the Queen did not like him, he would not hesitate to defect to Butcher King Clyde and report the news of Daenerys's return.
Daenerys had dragons, three dragons. This was what Winston Kaye believed was the fundamental reason why Daenerys would ultimately win.
Emily also knelt down to Daenerys: "Your Majesty, Winston is my neighbor. He is loyal and upright. After my husband was executed by Butcher Clyde, I was able to persevere until Your Majesty's return because of his care."
"Oh!" Daenerys's stern expression softened slightly. "Winston, get up."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Winston Kaye stood up, overjoyed. He had long occupied Emily, always coming over to take her body at night. Emily had resisted during the initial period, but after a few years, she had indeed sincerely submitted, as she herself had said.
"Winston, how many people can you gather?"
"I can gather fifty sworn family members, Your Majesty."
"Okay, don't publicize it. Go back and gather your clansmen and prepare. I will send someone to notify you when to attack the palace."
"Yes, Your Majesty." Winston Kaye knelt down again. "Your Majesty, I deeply love Mrs. Emily. I hope Your Majesty can grant me and Mrs. Emily a marriage after ascending the throne."
Daenerys looked at Mrs. Emily. Emily got up and nodded: "Your Majesty, Winston Kaye and I do not have the name of husband and wife, but we already... already... already have the reality of husband and wife. In these years..."
"Okay, I promise you, after taking down Clyde, I will host a wedding for you in the palace," Daenerys said.
Emily looked at Winston, and Winston gave Emily a passionate look.
"Your Majesty, let's go. Winston, you should also go back and gather your clansmen and prepare," Mrs. Emily said.
"Yes, yes, yes, time is of the essence," Winston said repeatedly.
Emily and Daenerys covered their faces with dust-blocking scarves and walked towards the courtyard door. Winston followed. At the moment of opening the door, Emily pulled out the sharp dagger hidden in her waist and stabbed it fiercely into Winston's heart.
Winston and Daenerys were both speechless...
Emily's eyes were like cold sword blades, and she said with gritted teeth: "Winston, I have been waiting very hard for this day when Her Majesty the Queen returns, but it is all worth it."
The dagger was pulled out and stabbed violently into Winston's body continuously, puff puff puff, puff puff puff, Winston's body was stabbed with many bleeding holes.
Winston Kaye's mouth was bleeding, his eyes were horrified, he reached out his hand helplessly to Emily, and fell down with a bang.
"Why?" Daenerys finally took a deep breath and said.
"He forcibly insulted me for four years, Your Majesty. His character is also absolutely untrustworthy. Letting him go back to gather his clansmen will definitely leak the information. If there are any twists and turns in the action, he will immediately defect and sell us out to Butcher Clyde."
"What do we do now?"
Daenerys and Emily both needed to change their clothes. Their bodies were splattered with Winston's blood.
Emily and Daenerys changed their clothes and put on face veils again. Women in Astapor must wear veils when going out, one is to prevent wind, sand, and brick dust, and the second is the inherent custom of women going out. This habit of wearing a veil has a benefit, which is that it can well cover Daenerys's face, and no one will recognize her as Daenerys Targaryen.
The two opened the courtyard door and came out. On the street, people were running, people were shouting and yelling. On the street ahead, Unsullied soldiers were lined up in teams, marching with a bang. The centurion rode on his warhorse, and the great saint issued orders, ordering the army to quickly go to the Slave Plaza.
"Excuse me, what happened?" Emily stopped a woman walking quickly on the street and asked.
"Slave Plaza, a giant from a foreign land killed the king's communication officer and the Morgan brothers. The king was furious and sent the city guard to the Slave Plaza to arrest the giant," the woman said as she ran away in a hurry.
"That's one of our people. I have to go to the Slave Plaza to see. You go to Lewick quickly to find Grey Worm."
"Yes, Your Majesty, please be careful."
"Don't worry, if the situation is not right, we will summon the dragon. The dragon is in the sky, and it will appear as soon as the horn sounds."
Mrs. Emily looked up at the sky. The sky was blue and there were white clouds, but there was no shadow of a dragon. She immediately lowered her head and separated from Daenerys. The two women went east and west, both walking quickly.

Astapor's north gate, the Unsullied training camp.
Training officer Lynn lifted the tent and saw two people sitting in his tent with their backs to him, one looked like a woman from the back, and the other was a man.
"Who are you?" Lynn stopped and asked in a deep voice.
The woman and the man turned their heads together, and Lynn was stunned.
"Missandei, Messalio, is that you?" Lynn rushed over and hugged the two.
Lynn, Missandei, and Messalio are all from the island of Nicalo. They were good friends from childhood to adulthood. After becoming Unsullied, they also worked for the same Good Master until the arrival of the Mother of Dragons liberated them.
"Her Majesty the Queen has returned," Messalio said.
"I have been waiting for this day," Lynn rubbed his fists.
"How many trustworthy soldiers can you gather?" Missandei said.
"One hundred people is no problem, everyone is waiting for your return."
"Secretly gather people, and you must not reveal the news that Her Majesty the Queen has returned. Tell the brothers that they have received a secret order and are ready for battle," Missandei said.
"Yes, I will never reveal any news."
"Meet at the priest's house tonight."
"Is Her Majesty the Queen also there?"
"Yes."

Slave Plaza.
The Magic Mountain rushed into a team of Unsullied, and the Unsullied team that would never retreat collapsed instantly. The broken spears flew into the air, and the broken limbs and heads flew up wave after wave like the heads of wolves in a tide. Hot blood was like roses spurting out, rising and falling.
In the blink of an eye, the Magic Mountain had crushed three layers of the team.
Many spears were stabbed into the Magic Mountain's body. Under the Toka robe was the Magic Mountain's plate armor. Those spears were originally armor-piercing weapons, but they could not penetrate the Magic Mountain's body. The plate armor firmly protected the Magic Mountain.
And under the plate armor was the finest chain mail made by Master Toth Mott; under the chain mail was carefully crafted leather that had been boiled.
The Unsullied had undergone cruel training and fought to the death without retreating, but under the destruction of absolute power, they could not cause real harm to the giant in front of them.
More soldiers were mobilized, and the centurion had ordered a change of tactics: surround the Magic Mountain, consume his physical strength, and let the giant tire himself out and eventually fall to the ground and be captured.
The giant's combat power was too amazing, the long sword was too sharp, and the armor's protection was too strong and tight.
This was a giant with no flaws.
The only flaw might be his woman.
But his woman was too beautiful, and was a stunner King Clyde had specifically requested. She must not be harmed, and could not be harmed.
And in fact, they could not really kill the giant. The king wanted the giant to become the most profitable gladiator in the imperial arena. The rich and poor in Astapor all liked to go to the arena to watch life-and-death fights.
If there was a giant who had never been seen before and was invincible in the arena, even the poorest kid would try to buy a ticket to watch the giant's massacre performance.
Finally, after the last line of defense of the Unsullied was broken through by the Magic Mountain, the centurion issued an order to retreat.
The soldiers retreated in an orderly manner, and the Magic Mountain laughed loudly with his giant sword in hand. In front of and behind him, there were corpses of enemies everywhere, and the ground was covered with blood.
Daenerys arrived and saw hundreds of Unsullied soldiers surrounding the Magic Mountain and Prince Ariane in a fan shape. But the army remained at a safe distance at the general's command. They were unwilling to engage the Magic Mountain in close combat. This strategy was correct. It was more appropriate to do less of the thing of sending heads.
