The Mystery:The Witch and the Scourge

Chapter 25 Dream and Reality

"A month ago, Joyce Best was living in Rose Manor outside the city. It is private property. The guards' marksmanship is very accurate, and my people cannot sneak in."

"After that, I tried to bribe the servants in the manor to pass on the information, but I didn't expect that they were very loyal to Best and were not moved at all."

Hearing this, Joyce smiled. Most of the servants in the manor were children adopted by their father, William. It was not easy to bribe them.

"On May 24th, Joyce Best returned to Bayam, and the surveillance work officially began."

Quite professional... Joyce laughed in his heart and found that Eric's tone became depressed.

"However, among the people I sent out to monitor, Amy was accidentally caught by the police, and two others disappeared inexplicably. The losses were heavy, but the results were almost zero."

"Fortunately, Crowe only briefly inquired twice and then never came."

Eric turned to gloating and said:

"And I heard that Ove's people also died, hahaha, they deserved it."

Wait, why can’t I follow his train of thought? Who is Ove? Joyce thought this and asked.

Eric gritted his teeth and said:

"Ove is the leader of the gang who stole business from me. He is the boss behind the Bay Tree Bar. He is a very good at fighting, a barbarian and a bastard who is never polite."

Joyce's doubts were not solved, so he continued to ask:

"What does this Ove have to do with Joyce?"

"The barbarian didn't know why, but he also sent people to follow Joyce Best, but he was also secretly eliminated."

Eric's explanation was beyond Joyce's expectation. No, it should be said: there was an unexpected gain!

How many people have I offended? Why are they all spying on me! Wow!

It was almost like a table of mahjong... Joyston felt tired and had to ask for Ove's detailed information.

Thirty years old, tall, with a messy beard that he never trimmed, good at fighting, drunk and lustful, recently kept a woman from the famous theater, and lives at No. 54 Xiangshu Avenue...

Sure enough, the enemy knows you best... After Eric's in-depth introduction, Joyce quickly formed a complete image of Ove in his mind.

It sounds like a low-sequence Extraordinary on the warrior path. Who ordered him to monitor me? It couldn't be Crowe... Joyce's thoughts kept spinning and he asked out of the blue:

"Do you know Ianna?"

Eric shook his head: "I haven't heard of it."

Joyce had already obtained the answer to the question and additional clues. The harvest was enough. Finally, he asked just in case:

"What else can you tell me about Joyce Best?"

Eric thought about it carefully and shook his head: "No more."

Okay, Joyce crossed his legs and said contemptuously:

"Then tell me about yourself. What bad things has a qualified gang boss done?"

Eric seemed to be interested, and even his expression became much more vivid. He told in detail that he instigated the top gangsters who had been with him to kill each other, personally cut out the tongues of the enemy's entire family, raped and killed women, and abducted children...

A devil disguised as a gentleman, a typical psychopath... Joyce listened with a cold expression, suppressing his anger, and finally followed him out of the room.

"I'm going out with this lady, you don't have to follow me."

Eric gave instructions to the bodyguard outside the door, then took Joyce out of the bar, and after passing two corners, he found the carriage parked on the spot.

Sophia was doubting her life when she suddenly saw a strange man enter the carriage. She was startled. Before she could ask, she saw Mr. Baron dressed as a woman and followed him.

The carriage starts.

"who is he?"

Sophia blinked her smart eyes and asked Joyce.

The latter quickly understood and ordered: "Introduce yourself."

"My name is Eric, nice to meet you, beautiful lady."

Eric put his hand on his chest and bowed.

Even though he behaved like a gentleman, it did not prevent Sophia from showing an extremely shocked expression and blurting out:

"Eric! The leader of the Gentlemen's Gang! Why are you here?"

"Exactly. As for why I am here, it is naturally the master's order." Eric admitted expressionlessly.

Master! Who is his master? Sophia turned her eyes to Mr. Baron, who smiled and then closed his eyes without any desire to answer.

Sophia was full of doubts and had no answers, and she didn't want to look into the eyes of the child-trafficking gangster, so she had no choice but to turn her head to one side, and finally imitated Joyce and half-closed her eyes.

The carriage moved forward smoothly and reached its destination amidst Sophia's suffering.

A strange house, very quiet nearby, Sophia asked:

"What is this place?"

"This is my home, beautiful lady, a safe house that only the master and I know."

Eric opened the door with the key and made a gesture to invite him in.

Noticing the gaze cast by the maid, Joyce nodded calmly:

"It's okay, let's go in."

When Eric was ordered to pour the wine, Sophia finally couldn't help but speak, and a series of questions kept popping out of Cherry's mouth:

"Why are we here? When did you become his master? He is a big bad guy! What is going on?"

Joyce pressed his hands to signal the maid to calm down:

"This is a very complicated matter. I will explain it to you later."

"Answer me a question first, have you ever seen anyone kill someone?"

Sophia was stunned and recalled the night when she was rescued ten years ago. Mr. William led the soldiers to destroy the gang. The smoke of iron and fire, and the blood soaked the soles of her shoes...

She lowered her head and said in a low voice, "I've seen it before."

"That's good." Joyce was a little surprised, but continued to say calmly:

"Don't scream for a while."

Screaming? Why? Sophia didn't understand what Mr. Baron meant.

Joyce didn't explain, because Eric came over with a bottle of red wine, poured it into two goblets and placed them on the table like a waiter.

Joyce smiled and said to Eric: "Thank you."

"Can you turn around?"

Eric had no objection. Behind him, Joyce took out the revolver from his waist, pointed it at the back of his head, and pulled the trigger.

There was a "bang", blood and brain matter seeped out, and Eric fell to the ground.

Joyce raised the red wine without any emotion on his face and drank it down in one gulp.

Sophia covered her mouth with both hands, and sure enough she didn't scream. She looked at the body, then at Mr. Baron, and all her thoughts turned into one sentence:

"Why?"

"This is the cruelty of the extraordinary world."

Joyce put away the revolver and said as if to the maid, or as if to herself:

"When you step into this world, madness and danger can never be avoided."

"We fight against enemies on the surface, struggle against enemies hiding in the shadows, and even become enemies against ourselves."

"He deserves to die." Sophia said softly.

"What?" Joyce asked in shock.

Sophia stared at Eric's body and said loudly:

"He deserves to die."

"I want to become an extraordinary person just to make these people disappear and make the world a beautiful and kind place."

What an innocent dream that can never come true... Joyce sighed inwardly and poured himself another glass of wine:

"I hope you can always retain this enthusiasm."

"cheers."
