The Natural Empire of the Oceanic Dragon
#17 - Return of the Fauns
Although this is currently a Fishman tribe, it won't always be just a small Fishman tribe with a radius of less than 300 meters!
This is the first tribe that Attilan has subdued. The village can be considered his first town, so he naturally wants to use this village to experiment with various plans for building a natural empire.
The geographical location of Azure Scale Town is quite good. Attilan has explored both south and north along the boundary line of the lake. To the north, there is a large river that can connect to the Human River Valley Principality located in the center of the continent, and to the south, there are several rivers with good flow that empty into the sea.
The northernmost part of the continent is home to Forest Elves, and the southernmost part is also home to Elves, but these are Ocean Elves. This group of Elves has built the largest port city on the continent, and they are second to none in the entire continent in terms of commerce, navigation, fishing, and literature.
It has been like this for at least two hundred years, and it will only get better after two hundred years. Attilan has no way of knowing exactly how much better it has become. The only person from the forest who has ever been there is the Bearman.
The other Druids in the forest all come from the north, and the nature of Druids dictates that they prefer to be with animals and plants, devoid of the pure natural atmosphere of those bustling metropolises.
Druids whose cultivation is stuck in the middle cannot accept this at all.
Attilan planted fifteen pear trees in the open space between the old district of Azure Scale Town and the Exotic Street, using magic to catalyze the growth of the pear trees. He can use it three times a day, and in five days, a row of pear trees more than two meters high will stand on the open space.
In another month, the snow-white pear blossoms will become a beautiful scenic line in Azure Scale Town.
Through this action, the Old Fishman completely saw how much Attilan disliked that pile of dilapidated buildings. He simply took people to clean up these ruins and moved into the new house with everyone.
Of course, the Old Fishman doesn't plan to waste this land either. He is very clear that the commercial street is only a temporary place for them to live, and their ultimate home is still this residential street.
The Fishmen's appearance determines that they are not suitable for hosting commercial activities. It would be almost the same if they were replaced with beautiful mermaids, but it is difficult for mermaids to be active on land.
Moreover, Azure Scale Town obviously does not have the conditions to attract mermaids.
"Do you remember what I said about having you find a few clever Fishmen to go to the center of the lake to recruit those remnants who were also abandoned by Cerastes? Do you have the candidates yet?"
After throwing two wild boars to the chef, Attilan turned to look at the Old Fishman.
"I have selected two young Fishmen who are suitable to become rangers. There are many dangerous monsters on the way. If they do not undergo rigorous training, I am afraid they will not be able to see those abandoned tribes alive."
Although the Mire Dragon Cerastes has been at war with the Dwarven Kingdom and the Human Kingdom in the east for many years, and it is even said that his swamp kingdom has also clashed with the Drow Elves in the underground city.
The reason is that the underground seepage almost submerged the Drow Elves' underground city, so the killing and destruction of the High Elves in the southeast was suspended.
Attilan is not particularly concerned about these major events that may affect the entire continent, mainly because no one sends him information even if he wants to care. He still wants the Fishmen to go to those islands scattered in the eight hundred miles of the lake to recruit those surviving tribes.
However, Cerastes has been worried that Gai-Oge, the legendary Druid, would stab him in the back, so he has set up many defenses in the west of the lake. The monsters responsible for guarding these defenses will not easily let these tribes slip away from their eyes.
When the Fishman tribe migrated in the past, they experienced this kind of thing a lot. Many of their tribesmen were devoured by monsters such as hydras, dragon turtles, and dragon eels.
Fishman Ranger, Attilan remembered that he seemed to have planned to train the Fishmen to change jobs to this profession, so that the Fishmen could sabotage the enemy's hull during naval battles.
Attilan has some memories of his predecessors training rangers in his memory. Although the knowledge involved in the ranger profession only reaches level 5 at most, it is barely enough to train the Fishmen. The main thing is that Attilan doesn't think these Fishman rangers can break through level 5.
"You hand them over to me for training. With professional levels, combined with the experience and lessons you gained from your migration in the past, it should be enough for them to come and go alive in the lake."
"The first time, we don't plan to relocate the tribe. They only need to collect some information about the defeated tribes and the eastern war and bring it back, so that I can have some understanding of the enemy."
The Old Fishman looked at Attilan with some horror.
"Enemy! ? Does the Dragon Lord mean that we are going to go to war with the Mire Kingdom?"
Attilan was speechless and explained patiently: "It's not that we are going to fight them, it's that after they know that we exist in the west, do you think they can still let us develop?"
The Old Fishman thought for a while, and it seemed that this was really the case.
"Dragon Lord, why don't we go to the river-filled south to recruit some tribes first? There, the Mire Kingdom has less influence, and the people recruited will not inform the Mire Kingdom."
The Old Fishman's words made sense, and Attilan suddenly thought of a question.
"Why didn't you go to the south in the first place? Why did you run to the west?"
"The competition in the south is fierce, and if you are not careful, the entire tribe will be killed. At most, a few people will escape, but they have no hope without inheritance."
"Although the west is not rich in products, it is safe. The badly damaged tribe has successfully inherited and has a chance to recover, but the process will be a little longer."
Attilan frowned. The Fishman tribe couldn't even get enough to eat before he came. Can this be considered an orderly inheritance and a promising revival?
Looking at Attilan's teasing eyes, the Old Fishman coughed awkwardly.
"Cerastes used magic to block the west of the lake. Few fish will come here, and we cannot go deep into the forest, which is why we do not have enough food."
"Some Fishmen went through the blockade to hunt, but the abnormal aura made them become prey for aquatic monsters instead."
In order to prevent the Druids from disguising themselves as animals to scout, the arrangement of that Mire Dragon is really amazing. It is possible from east to west, but not from west to east.
The Old Fishman arranged for people to go to the towns of the Mire Kingdom to inquire about news, planning to go south along the edge of the lake and then east, and finally enter the Mire from the weakly guarded area in the south, and finally collect information before returning.
Going to the mixed residence of the tribes in the south is also along the edge of the road, focusing on safety. Sending out rangers who are good at hiding and communicating is also for safety!
Safety first, Attilan still agrees with this concept, so he let Meep and the Centaurs go to buy food together, just in case they were robbed on the way.
Speaking of which, a month has passed, and the Half-Goat should be back.
"That's right! I forgot to build a granary."
"Granary? Dragon Lord, our food can barely maintain consumption, so there is no need to build a granary at all."
"We will need it soon. The Half-Goat will bring food back."
Attilan didn't know that the Half-Goat he was talking about had already returned, but looking at the gate and the golden sunflowers on both sides, he wondered if he had come to the wrong place.
The Centaurs unloaded the grain they were carrying and looked at the gate with the words Azure Scale Town written in common language and the uniform houses. The Centaur leader sighed:
"Unexpectedly good. I didn't expect the Fishmen to be able to build such good buildings."
The Half-Goat stared blankly at everything in front of him and rubbed his face.
"I didn't expect it either. I went out for a trip and came back and I didn't recognize it at all."
