The Natural Empire of the Oceanic Dragon
#20 - Madam, you don't want
Chapter 20: Madam, you wouldn't want…
Besides, by the time the satyr returns from the Fairy Forest, who knows what kind of development Green Scale Town will have achieved.
Attilan's plan for a city surrounded by flowers in all four seasons might not be fully realized, but he was confident he could complete at least half of it.
“How long will it take you to make a round trip?”
The satyr frowned.
“It'll probably take three months, but if I leave, what will happen to the halfling town's pearl business?”
Attilan said decisively:
“You'll set off tomorrow with two fishmen. It's a good opportunity to give them some practical training on the road, and you'll have two helpers. I authorize you to use the funds from the pearl sales to hire two centaurs to ensure safety along the way.”
“As for the pearl business, you've already sold enough pearl jewelry this time. Halflings need time to accumulate wealth, and our pearl production also needs time.”
“Let's pause for a while and let those with jewelry show off for a few months before we sell again. I think business will be even better then.”
The satyr clapped his hands in approval. This dragon's business acumen is truly impressive!
Hunger marketing combined with the psychology of comparison—how could Attilan not understand?
“Then I'll lead a team to set off tomorrow.”
After saying this, the satyr realized a problem. He seemed to have just returned today, and before even going home, he had been persuaded by the dragon to become the town leader, and now he had to work non-stop to return to his hometown to recruit manpower for him.
No wonder he's a dragon; he really knows how to make people work.
“Things aren't that urgent. I think we should take our time and make a careful plan. If we leave in a hurry, what will I use to impress the spirits of the Fairy Forest? You have to prepare some specialties from Green Scale Town as gifts to take back, don't you think?”
The satyr sneered inwardly. You'll be lucky if you can build these houses in a month. I don't believe you can come up with any specialties!
Who knew that Attilan would say without thinking:
“Pearls! Didn't you sell all the pearls? Just pick some of the better-quality ones from the remaining pearls to give to them.”
“Tell them that we have ten mussel farms here, each of which can produce hundreds or thousands of pearls that are even better than these.”
“Looking at the pearls' beautiful luster, wouldn't you be tempted?”
“Tempted.”
The satyr's heart turned ice-cold. It seemed he couldn't escape his fate of always being on the road.
“Alright, I'll go, but you also have to cultivate the pearls as quickly as possible.”
“Leave it to me with confidence!”
The mussel farms had such a large capacity, but the collected mussels hadn't even filled the first mussel farm yet. If they couldn't collect wild mussels, they would have to find a way to breed them themselves.
That's right, Attilan remembered that mussel reproduction seemed to require a little help.
Mussels would parasitize their larvae on the gills of fish to grow. After maturing, they would break out of the cyst, and only then would they become a new small mussel. Therefore, they also needed to raise fish in the mussel farms.
It was best to use herbivorous fish because carnivorous fish would eat the small mussels.
Moreover, feeding herbivorous fish only required the fishmen to take time to cut grass and throw it into the mussel farms, and Attilan had already prepared the scythes for them.
The next morning, when Attilan returned to Green Scale Town from hunting, the whole street was filled with the sweet aroma of honey bread. It had really been a long time since Attilan had eaten such a civilized food like bread.
After landing, he immediately shouted loudly:
“Bring me a big piece of bread!”
A fishman, holding a rectangular wooden board over a meter long with a similarly-shaped oval bread on it, handed it to Attilan.
“Not bad.”
The value of the pearls was naturally more than a few thousand pounds of wheat flour, but the rest had been exchanged for gold coins lying in his dragon's nest, a full fifty-two gold coins. The sound of them colliding when picked up and scattered was crisp and pleasant.
“Understood, very understood!”
The old fishman's eyes became sharp. He had to let his sons expand the search range for mussels. All the mussels within the safe zone, regardless of size, were theirs!
Naturally, they were all the Dragon Lord's!
“By the way, catch some grass-eating fish to raise with the mussels.”
“Yes.”
The old fishman didn't ask why. He knew that the Dragon Lord must have his reasons for doing so. Although he had lived in the water for decades, the water dragon certainly knew more about raising aquatic products than they did.
Honey bread was so delicious that Attilan ate faster and faster. This one-meter-long bread only filled half of his stomach.
“Bring me another one this big.”
The satyr walked out of the kitchen with a honey bread stick in each hand.
“Honey doesn't come cheap. You use the most honey for your bread. If you want to eat more honey bread, you'll have to find new honey in the forest. Anyway, I've already told the fishman cook how to make the bread.”
“Pack me a few breads with extra honey. I'll take them back to honor my master. He must know where to find honey.”
Clearly, the forest was full of blooming flowers, and he had seen bees, but he just couldn't find a hive. The honey produced by the only wild hive was probably all in today's bread.
“If there's no honey, we'll eat pork and ham bread tomorrow.”
After hastily eating a roasted pig leg, Attilan picked up a basket and went to find the bearman.
“Master, look what I brought you back.”
The bearman coldly opened the basket. A rich aroma wafted out, but he didn't reach out.
“After running wild for half a month, you finally know to come back. Tell me, what do you need my help with again?”
“Master, quickly try the bread. It won't be good if it gets cold. What could I possibly need?”
The bearman took the bread with some suspicion and took a bite.
“Actually, there is a little something…”
Seeing that the bearman wanted to spit out the bread, Attilan immediately pressed it back with his claw.
“It's a small matter! A small matter! I just want to find some honey and ask Master if he knows any leads.”
“There's a druid who likes to keep bees near the Great River to the north. Whether you can get honey depends on your abilities.”
“Master, eat slowly. I'll be right back!”
Watching Attilan fly into the sky in a hurry, the bearman shook his head helplessly. Not to mention, it had been a long time since he had eaten honey bread, and it was quite delicious. He finished it in a few bites and looked down, only to find that the basket for the bread was gone.
“Little dragon!”
Heading north, Attilan saw a sea of flowers in the distance, but this area was surrounded by a faint white mist with a light floral fragrance. The mist was thin, but it cut off Attilan's perception of the surrounding nature.
He knew he had come to the right place.
A month of growth had made Attilan's spirit more acute. He successfully pierced through the mist and arrived in front of a small wooden house. The door opened, and a middle-aged woman wearing clothes woven from vines walked out.
“Who's here? A dragon?”
“Madam, I hope to exchange some honey. I brought honey bread.”
The vine woman walked straight to Attilan, picked up a piece of bread, smelled the aroma, tore off a piece to look at the gluten, and then tasted it.
“Not bad, but not good enough.”
“Madam, your honey must be the best, but in the depths of the forest, who would know? Delicious food that no one tastes cannot be considered delicious, don't you think?”
The vine woman's fingers twitched, but she didn't speak.
“Our bread isn't good enough now, but we will work hard to improve it and let more people know. So what about your honey? Madam, you wouldn't want your honey to be buried like this, would you?”
