The rise of great powers: starting from military industry

Chapter 360 China-Laos-Cambodia Railway

In the past two months, the front-line troops have achieved brilliant results.

In just two months, the enemy suffered more than 30,000 casualties and more than 1,000 prisoners, while the casualties of the front-line troops were only more than 3,000 and less than 4,000.

And you have to know that on the battlefield, the total number of our troops was less than 28,000, while the enemy had more than 100,000 troops.

In addition to the ground troops, more than a dozen enemy fighters and two reconnaissance planes were destroyed.

The heavy casualties have made the enemy fighters and reconnaissance planes on the battlefield almost dare not take off again.

The air defense missile positions have built a solid no-fly zone on the battlefield.

As long as military aircraft appear within a hundred kilometers to the south, they will be shot down directly.

Even high-altitude and high-speed aircraft are not effective in the face of the "Aegis" air defense missile system.

The Tiger Camp achieved brilliant results, liberated Huangshupi County, greatly changed the surrounding situation, and turned the advantage to our army.

However, the consumption of weapons and ammunition was also very large.

A total of 3,200 rockets were consumed, more than 30,000 grenades and mortar shells of various calibers were consumed, and more than 1 million bullets of various types were consumed, almost catching up with the total consumption of other troops.

Although part of the shells were used to provide artillery support for the brother troops, it must be said that one of the main reasons why the Tiger Guard Battalion was able to inflict heavy damage on the enemy was based on fierce firepower.

In two months, the weapons and ammunition prepared by the Panshan Group for the Tiger Guard Battalion were consumed, and it was not even enough, and they had to be transported from the rear.

However, the brilliant results achieved by the front-line troops this time were only one aspect of eliminating the number of enemy troops, and the other aspect was to control the area of the battlefield. The entire army occupied a total of six more highlands and ten more transportation points than last time.

At present, the enemy has a large area that has actually been besieged, and it is difficult to supply. The enemy wants to supply, but the previous roads are no longer accessible, and airdrops are not possible, so they can only be transported on a small scale over mountains and ridges.

It won’t be long before this part of the highland position will definitely be conquered.

Once these positions are conquered, it means that half of the 3,000 square kilometers on the western battlefield will fall under the control of our army.

In addition to Huangshupi County, the front has threatened Xinmajie County, Guanbo County and other places.

This is why the enemy will launch a crazy counterattack with the intention of regaining strategic locations.

Because now, on the western battlefield, it is possible that the entire Lao Cai Province, Laizhou Province, and Dien Bien Province will fall.

Now Laos and Cambodia are also fighting with Annan on a small scale.

Although the intensity is not great, Annan cannot ignore it.

It can be said that the strategic advantage gained in the past two months is absolutely uncomfortable for the enemy.

The Tiger Battalion was transferred back for repair, but the heavy synthetic brigade "Tiger Brigade" also transferred another heavy synthetic battalion to the battlefield. In addition, there is an artillery battalion, and the medium synthetic brigade also sent an artillery battalion to the battlefield for support.

The main force of the current combat force is from the 2nd Division of the 1st Army, supplemented by an infantry division and an artillery regiment, a total of 27,000 troops.

The current rotation scale is about once every two months, with two infantry divisions and an artillery regiment each time, 27,000 troops!

The synthetic battalion is an additional one, which is carried extra.

In this way, 162,000 troops receive actual combat training in a year.

Some of these troops have completed the replacement, while others have not yet completed the replacement. They will complete the replacement during the training at Tianzhu Mountain and Malong training bases.

After two months of training, they will rush to the front line of the battlefield to take over the defense of the original troops.

As for which troops can get battlefield honors, it all depends on their real skills on the battlefield.

Some soldiers and cadres have won honors, but some soldiers and cadres have been punished.

The problems exposed on the battlefield will also become a place for the troops to summarize and correct.

Of course, there are also troops that have just left the front line and then streamlined. It is not uncommon for entire companies and regiments to be streamlined.

In particular, those troops with average or even poor performance are often streamlined first.

The rotation troops for a whole year are arranged in order and executed according to the rotation order and schedule.

For example, not only has the rotation sequence schedule for 1984 been formulated, but even the rotation sequence schedule for 1985 has been prepared.

For the three combined brigades directly under the Panshan Group Armed Forces Department, Liu Tao and his team's goal is that each battalion will rotate at least once before 1987, preferably twice.

If the entire brigade can rotate, it would be even better.

Like the artillery battalion, reconnaissance battalion, special forces, and air defense battalion, they will stay on the front line for a long time. Other combined battalions will rotate every two months, while these battalions will rotate every four to six months.

The current battle is mainly concentrated in the area from Hekou to Masup, but the special forces are operating in the northwest of Annan, and the territory they control is constantly expanding.

The Miao and Yi people there are very enthusiastic, and there are Laotian troops to support them.

Although there are not many Laotian troops now, only 100,000 people, but these 100,000 people have rich combat experience. Laos still remembers the evil that Annan has done in Laos.

Being able to strike at the Yue invaders was definitely what these people wanted to do the most.

Late at night, when they were having supper, Liu Tao, Li Fuguo, Zhao Guoping and others were together.

"Next, the armed forces will have to send a group of people to Laos and Cambodia to help them train their troops and teach them how to fight guerrilla warfare and defensive warfare." Liu Tao said: "You can seek cooperation with the military region in this regard."

"Building roads, especially railways, must also be carried out. We will cooperate with them to develop resources." Liu Tao said.

Laos and Cambodia have now established their own regimes, both of which are socialist, and the relationship between the two sides is very close.

Most of Laos is mountainous and hilly, and mountains account for about 80% of the country's area. The terrain slopes from northeast to southwest. The Mekong River runs through the country from north to south. It is the largest river, and there are several small plains along the river.

Cambodia's territory is a saucer-shaped basin, surrounded by hills and mountains on three sides. The central part is a vast and fertile plain, accounting for more than three-quarters of the country's area. There are the Mekong River and the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia, Tonle Sap Lake.

Laos now has a population of about three million, less than 3.5 million; Cambodia has a population of about 4 million.

Both countries are sparsely populated, and they can easily develop even if they only develop mining resources and agriculture.

The two countries have formed new regimes, and they will naturally build and develop their economies. Reservoirs, hydropower stations, roads, railways and even ports must be built here to facilitate the transportation of agricultural products and mineral resources.

If all goes well, Yunnan Province’s first seaport will be realized on the Laos and Cambodia routes. In the future, exports to the Middle East, Africa or Europe will no longer need to go to Yangcheng Port.

However, this route is not the best. The best route should be through Myanmar. The railway route is shorter, and the sea distance can be shortened by 4,200 kilometers, and there is no need to pass through the Strait of Malacca.

But if both lines are opened, it will undoubtedly be better.
