The Rise of the Third Reich

Chapter 873 The foundation is weak and the earth is shaking (second update)

"What now? Comrade Kuznetsov, what should we do now?"

General Vlasov did not want to investigate what happened during the siege. What happened at that time had nothing to do with him. No matter how serious the problem was, he would not be arrested for labor reform. He is only concerned about the present... The Fourth Battle of Leningrad has begun actively. As the commander of the Leningrad Front, he now has a heavy responsibility!

"Now... the top priority now is evacuation!" Kuznetsov frowned more and more, "There are many people who need to be evacuated, and the evacuation channels are not smooth, so there must be a sequence, otherwise there will be another problem. Big mess."

"A big mess?" Vlasov was a little confused.

"That's right!" Kuznetsov said, "Because not everyone wants to leave Leningrad now... because a considerable number of people know that as long as they leave, they will never be eligible to come back!"

Many people's Leningrad household registration may become Siberian household registration... This is indeed a big trouble!

Who goes first? Who goes last? Who won't leave? These are all troublesome things that make people embarrassed!

Although the siege of Leningrad has been temporarily lifted, the overall military situation is still very serious. The Red Army is now not winning but losing! Leningrad was able to be relieved only because the main target of the German army was Ukraine. When the situation in Ukraine is settled, a large army will inevitably move north to attack Leningrad.

So Leningrad is still a dangerous city!

Since this is a dangerous city, of course some people want to leave, but not everyone wants to leave... Most of the revolutionary cadres who are open-hearted want to leave. Even if they don't leave, they must find ways to send their families away.

And those who don't want to leave... I'm afraid not many want to die with the city. Most of them have lost confidence in the Soviet Union and are either collaborators or have become family members of anti-GM elements. Naturally, they do not want to go to Siberia or Central Asia, but want to stay in Leningrad to prepare for the "new owner".

In other words, most people who want to stay in Leningrad are unreliable! And those who are reliable now want to leave.

After listening to Kuznetsov's analysis, General Vlasov felt that he was among those who wanted to leave...but he couldn't!

"What can we do?" Vlasov asked anxiously, "Comrade Kuznetsov, what do you think we should do? How should we evacuate the population of Leningrad?"

"What else can be done?" Kuznetsov sighed softly, "Leningrad City W has issued evacuation orders to the following agencies, schools, factories, hospitals and other units, and also assigned priority evacuation indicators. . The specific evacuation list will be decided by the Party W in each unit... On the issue of personnel evacuation, we should trust the comrades of the grassroots Party W, because they are our foundation in Leningrad. Without them, the people of Leningrad City Work cannot be carried out.”

Now the city of Leningrad seems to be caught in a paradox. On the one hand, it must rely on grassroots parties... They are the foundation. If the foundation is not strong, the earth will shake! On the other hand, the position of the grassroots party W on the evacuation issue will weaken the foundation of the Bolshevik Party in Leningrad, because the grassroots party W must give priority to evacuating more reliable comrades.

In fact, it was not just the grassroots party members in Leningrad who did this. Even the order issued by the Supreme Command to the Leningrad Front also required the priority evacuation of the families of the Red Navy, the families of the Red Air Force, Leningrad arsenals, Shipyards, aircraft manufacturers, various military design institutes, and military-related majors in various universities.

Of course, evacuated arsenals, shipyards, aircraft manufacturers, design institutes and military-related university majors also include corresponding family indicators. And these people who will be evacuated first are those in Leningrad who support the Bolshevik Party. Among those expelled during the siege, at least none were their immediate family members.

In other words, when the priority evacuation task was completed, the Bolshevik Party's foundation in Leningrad became even more unstable.

But knowing this, General Vlasov and Secretary Kuznetsov had no choice but to pinch their noses and weaken the party's foundation in Leningrad.

Because both of them know that among the comrades at the grassroots level, there are actually very few Bolsheviks who are willing to dedicate themselves and their families to the cause of the party... If the people above really want to force them to do this, they will only be afraid of the public opinion. They are more scattered and the team is more difficult to lead.

Therefore, more than half of the comrades in Leningrad who most support the Bolshevik Party must leave immediately! And those who can stay for the time being... are mostly family members of anti-G life elements, among whom 300,000 are gun-holders!

The families of these armed anti-revolutionary elements are General Vlasov’s biggest headache. It is definitely the best way to transfer these people out of Leningrad and then disperse them into various front-line units.

But now the war is tense, and the Red Army is preparing for the Fourth Battle of Leningrad. Therefore, the Central Front Army and the Kalinin Front Army (they were the main forces in the Fourth Battle of Leningrad) are the key supplementary targets. Not only must they supplement the troops originally under these two front armies, but they must also transfer a large number of new or It is a new force coming from the Far East.

As for the Leningrad Front whose combat tasks are not too difficult (just defending the city), it is not the focus of the supplement.

Even if Stalin had given instructions, the Red Army High Command suddenly had no place to mobilize 300,000 new troops to replace the 300,000 gun-toting anti-GM family members in Leningrad... at least until the end of the Fourth Battle of Leningrad. It is impossible.

However, at the repeated request of General Vlasov, the High Command of the Red Army agreed to allocate some fresh troops from Siberia to the Leningrad Front Army so that the Leningrad Front Army could fight with the Leningrad militia (anti-GM family soldiers) Mix and form dozens of relatively reliable infantry divisions as the main force to defend the city.

On the night when Kuznetsov, the second secretary of W in Leningrad, took a "night flight" to Moscow to meet Stalin, the Red Army Captain Bronislav Kaminsky, who came from Siberia, was with an infantry battalion. , walking on the road to Leningrad.

Captain Kaminsky and his boss, Major Konstantin Voskoponico, are both elderly uncles, one is 44 years old and the other is 45 years old. They are older than General Vlasov, the commander of the Leningrad Front (Vlasov is 43 years old), and their "revolutionary qualifications" are also older than General Vlasov. Both of them joined the Red Army in 1918 ( Vlasov was a member of the Red Army in 1919).

Two "old comrades" who participated in the revolution in 1918, one is now a major and the other is a captain. Of course there is a reason for being so unlucky... Before the outbreak of the "Great Patriotic War", the two of them were traitors to the revolution, undergoing soul-touching labor reforms in distant Siberia!

It turns out that during the Great Purge, they all had problems, one became a Polish spy (Kaminski was half Polish), and the other became a Petliura element (Voskoponiko had some Ukrainian blood). In 1935, they all received a ten-year labor reform of their own. Engineers who were originally revolutionary cadres became anti-GM criminals at the bottom of Soviet society overnight.

And after seven years of painful transformation, when both of them fully realized their sins and no longer expected to be forgiven by the people. However, the leading comrades of the labor camp approached these two "old revolutionaries" and asked them to take the lead in signing up to join the Red Army to defend the motherland - anti-GM can actually join the Red Army!

In addition, the leaders of the labor camp also assured them that as long as they took the lead, they would have the opportunity to restore their reputation and become a glorious revolutionary cadre again!

Although neither of them could believe that such a good thing existed in the world, they both took the lead in requesting to join the army to serve the country with a speculative mentality. As a result, their reputations were actually restored, and of course they also had party membership and corresponding cadre levels.

However, their reputations, party votes and ranks can be restored, but their original jobs cannot be returned, because the party and the people need them to lead troops - to lead the Red Army soldiers who have gone directly from the labor camp to the military camp!

Anyone with some social experience knows that it is very difficult to reform bad people through labor reform, but it is very easy to reform good people into bad ones. Another characteristic of the reform camps in the Soviet Union is that there are few criminal prisoners and many political prisoners... Now it is no longer a matter of bad people being educated, but that all bad people understand politics!

Moreover, the bad guys not only understand politics, but many of them, like Kaminsky and Voskoponiko, have participated in revolutionary wars and served as revolutionary cadres. Some have even gone abroad to support the world revolution and are true revolutionary experts. !

This bad guy already understands revolution, so why won’t he cause a commotion? How dare the Red Army High Command let those officers and political workers who had just left school take care of them? Don't let people change their lives by then and not even know what's going on?

Fortunately, there are sensible people in the Red Army High Command, so they came up with a method of "fighting fire with fire". They selected some people with military experience among reform-through-labor prisoners who understood the revolution to restore their reputation, and let them serve as officers to control the soldiers below, and at the same time, Select some "blue hats" (referring to cadres in the internal affairs system) from the labor camp system to serve as political workers.

However, this kind of troops who came out of the labor camps (generally organized into battalions and companies) are not very popular because they have poor discipline and are too old-fashioned, making them difficult to command. No one wants to choose if they have a choice. Want them.

Therefore, these "re-education soldiers" were dispatched in large numbers to Leningrad, a dangerous place where a fierce battle is unlikely to break out (this is the judgment of the Red Army Headquarters) - because the possibility of being surrounded again is very high, no one is willing to enter this city.
