The Sage of Confucianism and Taoism

Chapter 1706 The Second Letter of War

Chapter 1706 Slaves of the Kingdom of Qing

"Zhang Zongshi?" Fang Yun immediately remembered that when he was on a private visit, he met a student named Zhang Zongshi in a restaurant. This person was very insightful. If nothing unexpected happens, he should have some achievements in the future.

"Hand over his documents." Fang Yun said.

"I have already saved it in the official seal. I will pass it to you now." Dong Wencong said, holding the official seal and passing the letter to Fang Yun.

Fang Yun took out the official seal and carefully checked Zhang Zongshi's documents.

At the beginning of the document, Zhang Zongshi first listed the books he read when he was a child and a student. Most of them were classics of the saints of the human race and the works of some famous people.

Then, Zhang Zongshi picked out some books separately, pointing out that these books were listed as selected books by the state academy after Xiangzhou was seized by the Kingdom of Qing. In normal academy teaching, academy teachers should not only teach the required books set by the government, but also occasionally give lectures on some selected books to broaden the students' horizons.

The required reading books in a state need to be reviewed by the Holy Academy, but the selected reading books do not need to be reviewed and are decided by the state literary academy.

Starting from decades ago, the selected reading books of all academies in Xiangzhou have become newly compiled books.

Zhang Zongshi wrote in the article that the most terrifying thing is not that these so-called selected reading books were born decades ago, but that Xiangzhou has clearly separated from Qingguo, and these books are still used to teach students in the academy.

Zhang Zongshi took the "Celebrity Records" of the current Xiangzhou Academy as an example. In the "Celebrity Records" of normal countries, most of them record the deeds of outstanding scholars or ancient people in their own country, and occasionally select celebrities from other countries who are recognized in the history of the human race, and use these people's deeds to teach students.

The Xiangzhou version of the "Celebrity Records" is very different, because the deeds of Jing people account for only 40% of the current Xiangzhou "Celebrity Records", and most of them are Jing semi-saints, celebrities before the establishment of Jing, and founding heroes. There are very few celebrities in the nearly two hundred years after the founding of the country. Even Fang Yun and Li Wenying, who must be included in the "Celebrity Records", did not appear in it. Instead, the left prime minister Liu Shan was recorded in the "Celebrity Records" with a very positive image.

Forty percent of the "Celebrity Records" are Jing people, but except for the semi-saints, the deeds of the rest will more or less add some seemingly neutral but actually stigmatizing events, which damages the image of those celebrities.

The deeds of the other 60% of people in the Xiangzhou "Celebrity Records" are completely opposite. They are not only perfect and tall, but also without the slightest flaw. What Zhang Zongshi finds most difficult to understand is that in the deeds of celebrities from other countries, any Jing people must be extremely unbearable.

Zhang Zongshi also took some examples of primers such as "Encouraging Learning" and "World Affairs". These books are surprisingly consistent in some aspects. All the people of Qing appear in a positive image, while there is no good person in Jing. Even the famous people who are famous in the Ten Kingdoms will deliberately add some stigmatizing content in the book.

Zhang Zongshi believes that if these books are unofficial history books, it is natural to record the stigma of the famous people of Jing. However, this is an enlightenment book for educating children. In these books, all the people of Qing are perfect good people, half of the people of Jing are bad, and the other half have done bad things, which makes people have to doubt the intentions of the compilers and promoters of the books.

Zhang Zongshi asked Dong Wencong to investigate the matter thoroughly, otherwise, in the long run, the future scholars of Xiangzhou will admire people from other countries and despise people from Jing.

What surprised Fang Yun the most was that Zhang Zongshi clearly had a deep affection for Xiangzhou and was clearly working hard to revitalize Xiangzhou, but in the end he said some seemingly contradictory words.

Zhang Zongshi wrote that the people of Xiangzhou are like all the people in the world, shrewd but not smart, because the people know limited things, even if they are in a normal mind, they often make wrong judgments, either deceived by the government, deceived by those who oppose the government, or deceived by people from other countries. In other words, it is not that the people are ignorant, but that there are smarter people who can influence the people's cognition of everything, so that they make wrong judgments without knowing it, and over time, they will take mistakes as truth.

Afterwards, Zhang Zongshi gave the simplest example. Any normal-minded person knows that the king, officials and aristocratic families of Qing are not selfless saints, and they must understand the truth that those who are not of my race must have different hearts. However, there are still people in Xiangzhou who foolishly think that as long as they join Qing, they will get the same privileges as those royal children, official children and aristocratic children. In fact, the status of Xiangzhou people in Qing is not as good as the lowest people in Qing.

Fang Yun put down the official seal, looked at Dong Wencong and said: "It takes ten years to grow a tree, and a hundred years to cultivate a person. Educating the students of a state is the top priority. I failed to deal with this matter in the first place, which is a dereliction of duty. Zhang Zongshi is a good boy, very insightful, and more importantly, he knows who is a friend and who is an enemy. Have you investigated what he reported?"

Dong Wencong immediately said: "I have joined forces with Governor Fang and mobilized personnel to secretly verify this matter. There are preliminary results, and I will send you a letter now."

Dong Wencong said, and sent a letter to Fang Yun again.

Fang Yun took the official and read it carefully. After reading it, Fang Yun sighed.

There is good news and bad news in the letter.

Before coming to Xiangzhou, Fang Yun suspected that the State Academy of Literature, which was responsible for Xiangzhou's education, had long been infiltrated by spies from the Qing Kingdom. The good news was that the Qing Kingdom did not arrange any spies in the State Academy of Literature. The bad news was that some Xiangzhou scholars had experienced the most incompetent times of Xiangzhou and Jing Kingdom, and their beliefs had completely collapsed, as if their spines and legs had been broken by the people of Qing. After kneeling down, they never stood up again. They were like dragons in front of the people of Jing, but like slaves in front of the people of Qing.

Even in the prosperous Jingguo today, the word "slave" is deeply imprinted in the minds of these people.

These Xiangzhou scholars could have achieved higher achievements, but in a special era, they were dragged down by the government, abandoned by Jingguo, suppressed by Qingguo, and finally poured their anger on Jingguo, but did not mention the disaster of Qingguo.

They are not spies, but like loyal dogs, they cooperate with the people of Qingguo to contain or even destroy Jingguo.

Their purpose is the same as that of Qingguo, to make Jingguo a backward country forever, imprisoned in a cage by powerful countries such as Qingguo for fun. If Jingguo wants to struggle out of the cage and want to make progress and become stronger, then they will do their best to obstruct it.

Destroying the self-confidence of the people of Jingguo is one of their goals.

They even believe that the people of Jingguo are the lowest among the ten countries, and only by being enslaved by Qingguo and becoming Qingguo people will they really change.

Fang Yun shook his head slightly. Those people didn't understand that the greatness of a true great man was not in his high spirits when he stood at the top of the world, but in his attitude and words and deeds when he was at the lowest point in his life; the greatness of a great nation was not in suppressing a world during its heyday, but in how it rose after being knocked down to the bottom.

These people, the harm they caused was far more severe and the impact was far deeper than the massacre of millions of Xiangzhou people.
