The Second Empire of Azeroth
#118 - Nuclear Devil's Fortress
Roger stood on the mountaintop, carefully observing the location of the magic bomb.
A powerful energy wave passively emanated, causing the space near the magic bomb to fluctuate violently. It then frantically absorbed the surrounding energy, contracting inward before suddenly exploding.
A powerful shockwave devastated the demon fortress's structures, pulverizing countless demons. The towering walls failed to withstand the impact, collapsing under the force. The fel cannons on the walls were torn to shreds, becoming accomplices in the explosion and scattering debris beyond the fortress.
These fragments bombarded the demon-built watchtowers, destroying them.
A mushroom cloud rose, the smoke from the explosion obscuring the ruins of the demon fortress.
Only then did the earth tremble, almost causing Roger to lose his footing.
"Rumble—"
The sound of the explosion arrived last, so loud it seemed capable of shattering heaven and earth.
Amidst the explosion, Roger turned and teleported away. After the portal vanished, the billowing smoke and dust soared into the sky, rising higher than a mountain next to the peak. Thick dust rained down, completely covering the mountaintop and concealing Roger's footprints.
In Everbloom Wilds, the treants dodged the falling dust, and the wisps retreated into the barracks. However, the low-lying barracks seemed insignificant compared to the all-encompassing dust, and were soon completely submerged. The treants hurriedly clawed away the dust, rescuing the Alliance soldiers inside.
Even so, some people fainted from suffocation. Fortunately, there were many spellcasters in the Alliance, providing numerous means of healing, preventing any fatalities.
In southern Gorgrond, the Gronn were startled by the explosion. Looking up at the mushroom cloud, their small minds were filled with questions.
Only when the smoke gradually dissipated did they realize one thing: the demons who had driven them away seemed to be in trouble.
Blackrock ore is the best metal ore. Weapons forged from it are hard and sharp. Even ordinary artisans can create excellent weapons. If it falls into the hands of a good blacksmith, the weapons will be at least epic-grade.
Grommash's Gorehowl was made of Blackrock ore. Although it was epic-grade, it possessed abilities exceeding that grade, which is why Grommash was able to use it to kill Mannoroth.
The Gronn paid no attention to the Blackrock ore. They cared about their territory. Even though no living beings could exist on this land, they still walked it again.
They themselves did not feed on living creatures. Their true food was the corpses of magnaron. Extracting just a little energy from a magnaron corpse was enough for them to survive for a long time. There were originally many magnaron corpses here, buried underground, but the explosion had thrown these corpses to the surface.
Even though the corpses were broken into many pieces, it made it easier for the Gronn to collect them.
Several days later, the Alliance arrived.
The craftsmen were overjoyed to see the Blackrock ore. They told the Alliance high command that if they collected all the Blackrock ore, the Alliance would never have to worry about weapons again.
So Turalyon sent troops to collect the Blackrock ore, but they were soon discovered by the Gronn collecting magnaron corpses.
The Gronn are behemoths with a very strong sense of territory. They attack any creatures that invade their territory. Upon discovering the Gronn, the Alliance immediately retreated to their temporary camp.
The Gronn pursued them to the camp, and Turalyon, to avoid casualties, immediately ordered a retreat.
After Roger returned to the Black Temple, he originally intended to deal with the draenei traitor, Othaar. The failure of the ship's launch was due to Othaar's sabotage. To deceive the demons, Roger had temporarily spared Othaar. Now it was time to eliminate Othaar, this hidden danger.
However, just as he was about to discuss this matter with Velen, he received a message from Turalyon.
Roger was amused and angered: The Gronn, fearing the demons, had fled to southern Gorgrond, but after he eliminated the demons, they had reoccupied northern Gorgrond.
Did they think he was their errand boy?
These Gronn, who bullied the weak and feared the strong, were simply courting death.
He teleported directly to Everbloom Wilds and met with Turalyon.
Turalyon pointed to the newly created map of Gorgrond, "After the big explosion, the location of the demon fortress became a huge crater. In the crater, there are countless architectural fragments and demon creations, but even more Blackrock ore. The dwarves highly praise Blackrock ore, believing that weapons made from Blackrock ore will be better than the weapons we are currently using. Moreover, there is a lot of Blackrock ore, enough for us to use for a hundred years!"
"However, when I sent people to collect Blackrock ore, the soldiers encountered the Gronn. To avoid conflict with the Gronn, I withdrew."
"Then kill those Gronn!" Roger said with a murderous look.
Turalyon looked at him speechlessly. "Rogers, don't just kill, kill, kill. The Gronn are powerful. If we directly engage the Gronn, we will sacrifice many soldiers."
Roger glanced at him indifferently. "Ordinary soldiers can't interfere in this war. I will personally send these Gronn to hell!"
With that, Roger teleported away.
Turalyon was stunned for a moment, then sent someone to the crater while contacting Khadgar. He regretted contacting Roger. He was too impulsive.
Soon, Khadgar teleported over. Turalyon told Khadgar about the situation, and Khadgar said, "Perhaps Roger is right!"
"Huh?" Turalyon looked at Khadgar in surprise. "How could you say that? You were also in favor of not starting a war with the Gronn before."
Khadgar said, "But now it's not up to us to decide, but the Gronn want to seize our victory. If we don't let the Gronn know how powerful we are, I'm afraid they will take an inch and want a mile. What's more, we do need Blackrock ore."
Turalyon was silent for a moment. He actually somewhat agreed with Roger's approach in his heart. The reason he didn't admit it before was because he was a little jealous of Roger, jealous as a rival in love.
He believed that if it weren't for Roger, Alleria would be his wife, and they would definitely have a son.
But now, he could only watch Roger and Alleria interact sweetly, how could he not be jealous!
