The Second Empire of Azeroth

#125 - Return of the Hero

At Watch Keep, Saslanan vigilantly looked south, quickly activating the arcane eye he had left there.

"What's wrong?" General Lodeson asked, surprised, looking at him.

Saslanan said heavily, "The Dark Portal has opened!"

"What?" General Lodeson exclaimed. He quickly ran outside, shouting as he ran, "Everyone assemble!"

The garrison at Watch Keep were all elite knights of the Stormwind Kingdom. They donned their armor as quickly as possible and gathered in the square. General Lodeson directly ordered, "Move out! Target: the Dark Portal!"

… …

Roger hadn't expected Khadgar to succeed so quickly. According to the Warcraft timeline, it was now the 14th year after the Dark Portal first opened. Arthas had not yet become a paladin, Thrall was still in the arena, and Varian had just gotten married and had no children yet.

This year was Roger's 11th year since transmigrating. He was 30 years old this year. Little Arto was almost ten years old, and he had not yet seen what Azeroth looked like.

However, the Alliance would not leave as soon as they said they would. Turalyon could abandon Honor Hold, and Khadgar could abandon Khadgar's Keep, but Roger would not abandon his strongholds. The Black Temple, Sethekk Halls, the Farahlon camp, the Evergrove camp, the Broken, Treants, Dryads, and Elemental Spirits, without his protection, would be squeezed to the bottom of the Alliance until it became difficult to survive.

Although it was bad to assume the worst of others, it was necessary to make the worst-case scenario. The Draenei might not ostracize them, but the Arakkoa definitely would.

Even with Anzu's guarantee, Roger couldn't trust these mages who mainly used shadow energy. Talon King Ikiss was still imprisoned in the Shadow World. They were fully capable of rescuing Ikiss, or even Terokk.

But they didn't do it!

Sess wasn't born a politician, but he was still capable of playing tricks and schemes. Moreover, mages had an extremely strong desire for possession. Just look at Medivh's collection. Even Roger had collected a large pile of treasures in the Black Temple, even if he couldn't use them at all.

Therefore, before leaving, Roger had to arrange things in Draenor properly.

First, he strengthened the defensive forces of the Black Temple. While summoning the Elemental Spirits to repair the sky of Shadowmoon Valley, he also had them participate in guarding the Black Temple and protecting the farms near Ambolari Village.

Karla, as the governor of the Black Temple, managed everything.

Tathressa was stationed on the Arto, patrolling around Shadowmoon Valley, assisting in the defense of Sethekk Halls, Tuurem, Honor Port, and other Azeroth Alliance strongholds.

Dallas chose to stay behind as a representative of the Alliance. In fact, everyone knew that he had joined the Naaru's Army of the Light and become a devout Naaru believer. However, he was, after all, a high-ranking general of the Azeroth Alliance and a member of the Stromgarde royal family, so he certainly wouldn't watch the Alliance's strongholds be invaded. With him there, even if Sess wanted to play tricks, he would be wary of his and the Naaru's threat.

Of course, in addition to preventing the Draenor Alliance from breaking down, Dallas also had a mission, which was to keep an eye on those Dark Portals and prevent them from being opened again.

The fleet led by the Demon Hunter patrolled around Draenor. On the one hand, they transported goods and exchanged what they had. On the other hand, they stood ready to support the garrison stationed near the Dark Portal.

After all the arrangements were made, Roger and his family, along with the army eager to return home, came to the Dark Portal to meet with Khadgar.

"What's going on?" Roger frowned as he looked at the pitch-black Dark Portal. In the past, when the Dark Portal was opened, one could see the situation on the other side. Why couldn't he this time?

He looked at Khadgar, "Did you use the wrong spell?"

"How is that possible!" Khadgar immediately denied. He said somewhat displeased, "I know you don't want to go back, but you don't have to find such a lame excuse. Although there were some problems, I can guarantee that it connects to Azeroth."

As he spoke, Khadgar displayed the scene observed by the Arcane Eye in front of everyone.

Alleria also said, "Khadgar wouldn't make such a low-level mistake. It might just be that the arcane energy and the Skull of Gul'dan are incompatible."

"Alright!" Roger shrugged.

He didn't feel anything was wrong, indicating that there was no danger on the other side.

Turalyon, seeing that Roger had no objections, took the lead and walked towards the Dark Portal, "Let's go home!"

"Home! Home! Home!" The soldiers couldn't help but cheer.

Amidst the cheers of the soldiers, Turalyon took the lead and stepped into the Dark Portal.

Azeroth, Alliance soldiers nervously watched the Dark Portal.

Ever since the Dark Portal suddenly opened half a month ago, it had been very quiet. Other than an Arcane Eye flying out to observe the situation, there had been no other anomalies. General Lodeson had already sent a messenger to Stormwind City to seek reinforcements. Before the reinforcements arrived, General Lodeson did not dare to act rashly.

But now, ripples suddenly appeared in the Dark Portal, indicating that something was passing through the Dark Portal.

"Prepare for battle!" General Lodeson ordered loudly. He raised his right hand as a signal. Once the Dark Portal released enemies, he would issue an attack order.

A figure walked out of the Dark Portal. General Lodeson cried out in disbelief, "Turalyon?"

Turalyon looked at the tense appearance of the crowd and couldn't help but ask with a smile, "Lodeson, is this how you welcome old friends?"

The Alliance soldiers were also surprised. Ever since Khadgar destroyed the Dark Portal, they had all thought that Turalyon and the others had sacrificed themselves. They had even built statues of these heroes at the gate of Stormwind City. As a result, Turalyon not only returned, but also looked unharmed, which couldn't help but make them feel excited.

"It really is you!" Lodeson ran over and gave Turalyon a hug.

"Of course, it's me!"

Hearing Turalyon's affirmative answer, the Alliance soldiers erupted in huge cheers.

"Our hero has returned!"

Behind Turalyon, one after another, the Alliance soldiers walked out, familiar soldiers embracing each other, happy that their friends were still alive.

The mage Saslanan also expressed congratulations to Turalyon, and then asked, "General Turalyon, what about Lady Windrunner?"

"She's behind!" Turalyon said casually, and then began to chat with General Lodeson.

The mage Saslanan looked towards the Dark Portal. Khadgar led the Dalaran mages out, followed by the Wildhammer dwarves led by Kurdran, and finally the elves.

Seeing Alleria walking out holding a little boy's hand, Saslanan's expression was somewhat complicated. Alleria was a beauty recognized by the elves. It was a pity to marry a human!
