The Second Empire of Azeroth
#151 - Vrykul of Dagger Bay
The chapter title is wrong, it should be: Undying Roach
The Northrend Expedition's scout ship discovered a winding fjord, and because its shape resembled a dagger, the scout ship named it Dagger Bay.
Deep inside Dagger Bay, they discovered a massive and ancient fortress. The fortress gates were tightly shut, with a deathly silence as if devoid of life. However, judging from its scale, the force capable of building such a massive fortress was definitely not ordinary.
The scout ship discovered a landing site on the southern side of the massive fortress, which was very suitable for building a base.
However, because the main battleships could not enter Dagger Bay, Roger could only have the frigates transport supplies inward.
Furthermore, he sent Arthas to build the new base.
The Lich King clearly still wanted to tempt Arthas to fall, but without Mal'Ganis, Roger wanted to see what new tricks the Lich King would play.
Arthas was happy to carry out this plan to lure the enemy out, and he quickly led his troops to establish a camp, collecting materials to build a city wall. He wanted to build this new gathering point into a fortress, so that he could cope with even more challenges.
However, before his plan could be completed, his challenge arrived.
Rivendare led an army of undead to his camp, "My dear Prince Arthas, I didn't expect you to actually come to Northrend."
Arthas looked at Rivendare, "Traitor, you dare stand before me, aren't you afraid I'll kill you?"
Rivendare laughed loudly, "Arthas, it seems you haven't recognized the situation before you. In Northrend, we have an endless army of undead."
"So what?" Arthas said disdainfully, "We'll kill as many as come!"
"Kill!"
The soldiers also shouted loudly, expressing their determination to Rivendare.
Rivendare disdainfully drew his sword, which emitted a large amount of dark aura, "I'd like to see how many you can kill!"
"Charge! Eliminate them!"
Under Rivendare's command, countless undead rushed towards the base. Some of these undead were clearly more powerful than the undead of Lordaeron. They possessed stronger bodies, which seemed to come from some kind of humanoid creature, with backward-bending knees, horns on their heads, and wearing armor made of a special metal.
"Kill them!" Arthas activated the Devotion Aura and began to direct the battle.
Archers and mages began attacking first, but these attacks were ineffective against these powerful undead. These powerful undead rushed to the front of the camp gate, raised warhammers like meteor hammers, and smashed the gate in a few blows, rushing into the camp with the ordinary undead.
Arthas waved his hand with a sneer, and the camp's only two sturdy watchtowers finally showed their worth.
Four Arcanon cannons were pushed out, prepared for the undead's charge route, and unleashed laser-like flames.
"Whoosh—"
The powerful flames plowed several ravines in the ground, and all the undead in the path were evaporated into dust. A few undead who were lucky enough to escape were also beheaded by the human warriors ambushing nearby. The armor on those powerful undead could withstand the burning of the Arcanon cannons, but the bone skeletons inside the armor could not resist, leaving only a pile of broken armor.
Rivendare was surprised, "Prince Arthas, I didn't expect you to have a trick up your sleeve. These powerful weapons must have been brought by that outsider named Rogers, right? It seems you have already betrayed Lordaeron."
"You are the one who betrayed!" Arthas said angrily, "As a noble of Lordaeron, you actually conspired with necromancers to slaughter your own people. The kingdom trusted the Rivendare family so much, is this how the Rivendare family repays the kingdom, repays my father?"
Rivendare didn't care about Arthas's rebuke, "It is precisely because I want to repay His Majesty the King's trust that I joined the Lich King's side. Otherwise, once the Lich King captures Lordaeron, everyone in Lordaeron will become the lowest of the undead."
"Put away your sophistry, Rivendare, today I will avenge the people who died in Stratholme!"
"Just you? My dear prince?" Rivendare said mockingly, "Or with your new weapons? Face reality!"
As soon as Rivendare's voice fell, the sturdy watchtower suddenly collapsed, and the cannons and soldiers on it fell from the watchtower. A giant beetle crawled out of the ruins, and from the tunnel behind it, countless spiders swarmed out, rushing towards the ranged units behind the camp. Some ants sprayed magical energy, hitting the mages, and the mages immediately felt their bodies paralyzed and their mana reduced.
In an instant, the entire camp was about to fall.
Just then, a portal appeared above the original watchtower, and Roger flashed out from it, stopping in the air. He reached out his hand, and countless arcane missiles spewed out, nailing those spiders to the ground, killing them instantly.
"What?"
Rivendare, who originally thought victory was in his grasp, was so surprised by this dramatic reversal that his eyes were about to pop out—if he still had eyes.
The huge beetle felt Roger's power and immediately fled. Countless spiders were still涌 out from the tunnel it had just emerged from, and it could only rush out of the camp on the ground.
"Want to run?" Roger chuckled, took out a Hand of Ragnaros, and threw it at the big beetle.
"Bang!"
The Hand of Ragnaros hit the big beetle, and the big beetle bounced the Hand of Ragnaros away with its hard shell. But it was not feeling well. The powerful flames carried by the Hand of Ragnaros penetrated its body when it hit it, burning its body. Although it was already undead, the dark energy that drove its movement was interrupted, and it could only lie in place until it could restore the energy connection.
"Anub'arak!"
Rivendare shouted, "This is impossible, its carapace is the most solid I have ever seen, even more solid than armor."
Anub'arak shook his head, finally restoring the energy connection. Just as he was about to act, he saw Arthas rushing over, and the warhammer with holy light slammed hard on his shell.
"Bang!"
Watching the approaching Crypt Lord, Arthas retreated a little flustered. In the midst of the panic, he touched a warhammer, it was the Hand of Ragnaros that Roger threw out.
He grabbed the Hand of Ragnaros and subconsciously poured holy light into it.
In an instant, the flames of the Hand of Ragnaros soared, surrounding Arthas.
