The Second Empire of Azeroth
#178 - Failed ritual
"How could there be no reaction?"
Illidan frowned, looking at the green gem. The ritual had already begun, and immense magical power had been transferred, but no feedback was received.
"Could something be wrong?"
Just as he was examining, an army appeared on the hills not far away.
"Malfurion, Illidan is in the ruins ahead," Maiev Shadowsong reported. "He seems to be performing a ritual; we cannot let him succeed."
Malfurion nodded.
"The earth has given me feedback; he intends to use the demon nexus to destroy the structure of the earth. I absolutely will not allow him to do this. Attack now and stop him from continuing his evil deeds!"

Maiev immediately waved the Wheel of Vengeance, "Attack!"
Night Saber riders charged down the hills first,
But they were still not the fastest. Maiev used Blink continuously, quickly surpassing them,
Reaching the ruins first.
Continuous Blink was her specialty,
She quickly Blinked next to a Naga, the Wheel of Vengeance easily slicing open his neck. Then Maiev quickly charged towards the next Naga, a throwing knife imbued with shadow power hitting the Naga beside him.
By the time the Night Saber riders arrived, she had already dealt with seven or eight Nagas. The Night Saber riders quickly threw the Moon Glaives in their hands. The Moon Glaives had ricochet ability; for a time, Moon Glaives were rapidly ricocheting among the Nagas on the battlefield. The Nagas blocked the Moon Glaive, but were hit by another one.
Soon, the Nagas in this area were killed.
Illidan had already noticed the commotion and was infuriated.
"It's that damned Maiev again!"
He left an army to protect the four Naga witches casting the spell, then led the rest to meet them. He no longer had time to check what was wrong with the ritual. If he couldn't stop Maiev's attack, his ritual simply couldn't continue.
Then that power continuously impacted Ulduar, and Roger could only fully control the Well of Eternity, unable to be distracted.
Just now, he felt that the power had weakened, so he freed himself from the throne. He had long followed the direction of the energy and found the source, which turned out to be the ruins of Dalaran. Wasn't that where Alleria was managing? How could someone be using the magic node there to destroy Ulduar?
Where did Alleria go?
Filled with doubt, Roger stepped out of the portal. He came to the top of the mountain, looked at the ruins of Dalaran, waved the Scepter of Sargeras, and a portal connected to the altar in the ruins. Through the portal, he saw the Naga witches manipulating the green gem.
This is⦠the Eye of Sargeras?
Roger was very surprised. Did Illidan do this?
The Nagas saw the suddenly appearing portal and immediately rushed over. Roger stepped out of the portal, not even looking at those Nagas. An arcane energy surged around, knocking the Nagas away. Also knocked away were the four Naga witches, severing their connection with the Eye of Sargeras.
The Eye of Sargeras trembled violently,
The energy above was overloaded, wanting to explode.
Roger reached out his hand,
Grabbing the Eye of Sargeras in his hand, guiding the overloaded energy above into his body, transporting it to the crown, and transmitting it back to the Well of Eternity. The gem gradually stabilized and finally returned to calm.
Checking through the system, the Eye of Sargeras, a teleportation-level gem, was a powerful energy source.
Illidan and Maiev were in a fierce battle, both excelling in agility, with incredible speed, fighting back and forth. Moreover, both were powerful spellcasters, casting various spells at each other, but each was resolved by the other.
Maiev's Blink was unpredictable, but Illidan's Mana Burn was the bane of all spellcasters. After the mana was exhausted, Maiev could not cast Blink. And Maiev was a Priestess of the Moon, relying more on the power bestowed by the moon goddess Elune in addition to her own mana. Unable to use Blink, she could still fight Illidan to a standstill.
Unable to shake off Maiev's entanglement for a long time, Illidan was very annoyed. The Nagas around him were getting fewer and fewer, and his good brother was eyeing him covetously, ready to deliver a fatal blow at any time.
Just as Illidan was trying to solve the current predicament, suddenly a powerful aura appeared near the altar. Illidan and Maiev clashed once, stopping at the same time, looking towards the direction of the altar.
They saw from afar a not-so-tall figure teleporting over, easily defeating the Nagas around the altar, and collecting the overloaded Eye of Sargeras.
Malfurion rode a stag to the middle of Maiev and Illidan. Although they were fighting to the death, they chose to stand together in the face of unknown threats.
The three leaders stopped, and the Night Elves and Nagas also stopped, warily looking at Roger.
Roger teleported in front of the three, "Purple-skinned elves? Are you the ones attacking my throne?"
"Your throne?" Illidan looked at Roger in confusion, "Are you the Lich King?"
Lich King?
Roger instantly understood that Illidan had been deceived by Kil'jaeden.
Malfurion looked at Illidan in confusion, "Your ritual was aimed at the Lich King?"
"That's right!" Illidan said, "Although I have contact with the Burning Legion, I am not working for the Burning Legion. Kil'jaeden also knows this, so he asked me to use the energy of the Eye of Sargeras to dissolve the Frozen Throne and eliminate the disobedient undead."
"But, your method is wrong!" Malfurion said with a somber face, "Ten thousand years, Illidan, you still haven't changed."
"Malfurion, you are still too merciful. You should have killed him back then," Maiev said hatefully.
"Maiev, don't let your personal emotions influence you!"
Malfurion was speechless. Illidan injured your brother, but it's been ten thousand years, and you're still holding onto this, which is a bit petty.
Roger was even more speechless. Can you three look at me for a second?
"Alright! I don't want to know about the grievances between you!" Roger said in a deep voice, "That ritual can indeed destroy the Frozen Throne, but you can never kill the Lich King!"
The three immediately looked at Roger.
Roger said, "The Lich King was killed by me a few months ago. You can never kill a dead person! The coordinates Kil'jaeden gave you were Ulduar, the capital of the Azeroth Kingdom. If I hadn't used the artifact to absorb that energy, I'm afraid Ulduar would have been destroyed by you now."
Only then did Illidan understand why his ritual had failed.
"Damn it, Kil'jaeden deceived me."
