The Second Empire of Azeroth
#43 - Rudra Frozenstone's Goat
Roger buried the head of Taron Bloodwail. Although Taron Bloodwail's sins were grave, General Chrispin was innocent.
After building a small tomb on the frozen earth, Roger led B Company away.
A day later, Ogrim arrived with the main force. He looked angrily at the remnants left on the path, "Have you found out who the enemy is?"
The orcs shook their heads, indicating they didn't know.
"Perhaps I know!"
Gul'dan hobbled forward, "Warchief, Taron Bloodwail's soul has not dissipated."
Ogrim's eyes flickered, "Gul'dan, find Taron Bloodwail's soul."
"As you command, Warchief!" Gul'dan lowered his head and walked towards the tomb, beginning to cast a necromantic spell.
A faint shadow condensed from the tomb, the orcish image of Taron Bloodwail.
"Bloodwail!!!"
Gul'dan's voice contained a peculiar fluctuation, awakening Taron Bloodwail from his daze.
"Gul'dan?" Taron Bloodwail was taken aback, immediately realizing his situation, "Am I dead again?"
"That's right!" Gul'dan asked: "Tell me, Bloodwail, who killed you?"
"Roger Kischam, that human who stole the Fireblade Blademaster's legacy."
Taron Bloodwail's words stirred the orcs. Roger, the orc slayer, wasn't just a name; it instilled fear in many orcs. The Fireblade Blademasters, however, weren't afraid of Roger, shouting and asking, "Where is he?"
"Not many, only about twenty. But they are all well-equipped, with armor that looks like it's made from the scales of some creature."
Taron Bloodwail remained depressed, which displeased Ogrim. He turned to Gul'dan and said, "Give him another body. I need a fearless knight, not a coward!"
"As you wish!" Gul'dan replied, following orders.
Ogrim turned and looked at the surrounding chieftains: "Kilrogg, Kargath, Maim, take your men and search the entire snowfield. Dar, the Fireblade Blademasters will follow you three in batches. You must find Roger!"
"Yes, sir!"
The four chieftains spoke in unison. They immediately mobilized their troops and set off in different directions.
Ogrim remained at Kharanos, ready to provide support at any time.
However, for several days, there was no sign of B Company. Moreover, supply convoys continued to be attacked.
Ogrim was helpless. In the end, he could only leave Maim to lead the army to block the gates of Ironforge, and send a large number of troops to escort supplies. The main force set off for Loch Modan, preparing to advance north.
Instead of wasting time on Ironforge, it was better to defeat the humans to the north first, and then turn the army to attack Ironforge. By then, consuming Ironforge with the resources of the entire continent would be an easy task.
On the summit of Khaz Modan, Roger watched the orcish army leave, turning to the dwarf beside him and asking, "Ruedra, can we go to Ironforge now?"
Ruedra Stonehoof, the owner of Stonehoof Farm. After the orcs occupied Stonehoof Farm, Ruedra Stonehoof hid with his goats in the mountains of Khaz Modan. When Roger was evading the orcs, he accidentally encountered Ruedra Stonehoof, and then asked him to take him to Ironforge.
However, Ruedra Stonehoof was very wary, and only agreed after Roger promised him that he would make Ogrim lead the army away from Ironforge.
Now that Ogrim had led the orcish army to Loch Modan, Ruedra Stonehoof readily agreed.
"Alright! Human, we'll go to Ironforge now. However, many orcs are still stationed at the gates of Ironforge, so we can only go over the mountains. I hope you can keep up with the herd!"
With that, Ruedra cracked his whip and drove the goats towards the mountains.
"Take off your armor, put away your weapons, we won't need to fight next." After giving the order, Roger looked at Ruedra, "Your goats should be rideable, right?"
Ruedra laughed, "My goats don't have very good tempers, you need to be able to ride them. However, those two are exceptions, they're too heavy and will break my goats."
John and Karakol looked at each other. Was it their fault they were tall? This wasn't fair. But looking at the size of the goats, it was indeed difficult for them to bear their weight. Helplessly shaking their heads, they sullenly watched the others happily go to ride the goats.
They had ridden horses and dire wolves, but riding goats was a first. Just as they mounted the goats, the goats suddenly became violent, throwing them hard to the ground.
"Hahaha—" Ruedra let out a hearty laugh, "My goats are the strongest in all of Dun Morogh, but they also have very bad tempers. If you can't subdue them, you can't ride them."
John and Karakol also laughed gleefully, "Are you guys useless? You can't even ride a goat!"
Everyone was speechless. Weren't goats supposed to be docile? How could there be such violent goats?
Roger also found it very funny. These goats were the dwarves' mounts, how could they be docile?
He walked towards the goats, and Ruedra asked with a smile: "You want to try too—impossible, why doesn't it get angry at you?"
Roger stroked the goat's head and said with a chuckle: "Maybe I look more friendly!"
Everyone curled their lips. With all the killing intent on your body, you dare to say friendly? But they quickly became suspicious, could it be that the killing intent made the goats afraid to resist?
Thinking of this, several people tried to release their killing intent and walked towards the goats. As a result, the goats rammed into them, knocking them to the ground, once again eliciting a burst of laughter.
In addition to laughing, Ruedra was secretly observing Roger, but still couldn't see anything special about him.
Roger easily mounted the goat and said with a smile: "If you can't ride the goats, you'll have to climb the mountain yourself!"
Everyone was at a loss, and many people looked at Ruedra, hoping to get guidance from him. But Ruedra gave them a helpless expression, "We all rely on strength to subdue the goats, there is no other way."
As for why Roger was an exception, who knew!
Ruedra mounted his goat and led the herd into the mountains of Khaz Modan. Helpless, everyone could only follow behind on foot.
