The Secret Code of Monsters
Chapter 11 Ch11 Candlelight in the Eyes
Chapter 11 Ch.11 Candlelight in the Eyes
Nina is dead.
Not a piece of flesh, not a single bone, not a drop of blood was left.
Roland held her hand and sat there from the dark night until dawn, when the servant knocked on the door.
My hands are empty.
Afterwards, the war broke out.
However, it was not his physical 'father' Tyrese Collins who was furious, but...
Seth Weir, the butler.
"Master Collins, do you know what happened?"
The angry man exudes danger. He stepped on the floor and slammed in. First he stayed in front of the bed for a while, and then went around to the other side:
Roland was picked up by one of his hands, pushed against the wall, and held his throat.
"There is only one step left for the ceremony..."
He was so angry that he let out high-pitched and low-pitched screams!
He threw him to the floor hysterically and pulled up his hair——
"Two little bastards..."
"Look what you did!!"
He didn't seem to know what ritual Nina had performed, but he definitely knew that disappearing overnight was by no means an escape. There was a mystery that lingered in the room—it was a ritual, something he had never seen before.
"Tell me... little bastard... what your sister did."
His voice was like a snake squeezing its venom glands, ready to go off, and his smelly and warm breath licked Roland's face.
"Tell me, Master Collins..."
"I beg you to tell me..."
"Please..."
He was gentle for a while and fierce for a while, and his unsteady crazy emotions made Roland more and more frightened: he held his face and couldn't help but kiss the young man's forehead with respect; then, he suddenly slapped the boy to the ground, tightening his grip. He grabbed his body and stepped on Roland's face with the sole of his shoe.
But then, he knelt down in great pain, sobbing and using his fingertips and cuffs to wipe the blood from Roland's face and ears.
Repeatedly.
"Why don't you tell me what happened?"
Roland was beaten so hard that his whole body throbbed and he curled up into a ball.
The silence was endured, not even a word was said.
"Am I not worthy of a ceremony?" Seth's voice sounded frustrated, but his long nails gripped Roland's throat, wanting to dig in hard. "Why don't you tell me - what are you two little bastards planning in the room!!"
Knock knock.
knocking.
Roland heard his 'father's' voice.
This surprised him a little.
Because he called Seth: Sir.
"Get in here! Thales! Look what your two children have done!!"
The arrival of Tyrese Collins gave the anger an outlet. Seth Weir let go of Roland, stood up with his hands hanging down, like a rag doll he no longer wanted, grabbed Tyrese Collins by the neck, and smashed him against the wall.
Roland heard a huge 'boom'!
The paintings on the wall were knocked off.
ah.
My travel expenses.
"You idiot!"
"Idiot! Idiot! Idiot!"
"I wasted half a year of my time! Idiot!"
For every diatribe, he smashed Tyrese Collins' head into the wall.
But no blood was shed.
The surrounding servants stood quietly not far away, with their bodies upright and silent, watching everything with a smile.
Like a piece of human skin armor with a hard outer shell and a hollow interior.
"The ceremony can't be stopped, Thales, you know that! It can't be stopped!!" Seth shouted angrily, letting go of the old Collins who had long since lost his human form, and glanced at Roland who was curled up on the ground.
"Take good care of our 'last young master'," he told the servant. "From today on, Thales, you are not allowed to participate in the ceremony. Keep an eye on him! I will drain all his blood! I will Peel off his skin!"
Thales responded hesitantly.
Roland heard a few crisp bones, and then pairs of shoes left the room.
Click.
The door was locked from the outside.
The room fell silent again.
Roland held his head and slowly got up from the ground.
His eyes were cold.
You can't go wrong with Miss Nina.
She can't go wrong.
I will definitely survive...
As she said.
I want to believe her...
endure.
endure…
He rubbed his eyes, wondering if they had been hit by the butler. His two eyeballs were so swollen and painful that they were burning.
In sight——
Well.
There seems to be a small... light spot floating in the empty sight?
Roland frowned and fumbled to sit on the edge of the bed.
There are more and more of those ‘white spots’.
They connected into a straight and monotonous line, lying quietly in front of Roland.
As he continued to adjust and calm his breathing, it gradually became transparent and disappeared.
Roland twisted his body and the wooden bed creaked.
What he didn't expect was that as the sound sounded, the 'white line' appeared again.
It was like the pale waves on the coastline, spreading around with the sound of "crunching" - it didn't go very fast, but it showed all the ups and downs along the way in Roland's eyes.
Roland sat stiffly. This time, his cheeks were sore, his molars pressed against each other, and they rubbed back and forth harder and harder.
Creaking.
Bang...bang...
bang bang…
He could even hear his heart cheering loudly, and the celebrations in his internal organs intertwined into a celebration within his body.
If he wasn't hallucinating...
He can see?
The incredulous boy slowly stretched out his hand and put it on the cabinet at the head of the bed.
Raised his index finger.
Dong.
Knock.
Just like last time.
The white lines spread out from the tip of his index finger, and the ring-sized circle instantly spread out to the surroundings, sweeping the entire room clearly. It followed the ups and downs obediently, blowing away the black mist.
Wardrobe.
Dead rat on the ground.
Feces.
Gas lamp.
Painting on the ground.
Wall.
Ceiling.
Roland trembled with excitement. He couldn't control himself. The surprise was like thunder in the rolling dark clouds, suddenly blasting his world into daylight.
Dong.
The white lines spread.
Dongdong.
The white lines spread.
Like a child, he pressed five fingers on the cabinet and kept knocking. The boring muffled sound contained the joy and madness that had been suppressed for many years.
Miss Nina...
Is this the gift you left for me?
A few minutes later, Roland found out.
Not entirely.
Because his vision became more ‘complex’.
When he tapped, in addition to the spreading ‘sound line’, he could also see lines of words floating out:
Words that he shouldn’t know, but he understood them strangely.
They floated on every object.
“Dead rat”
“Painting said to be worth a lot of money (travel expenses)”
“Tallis Collins’s front teeth”
“A trace of mystery (about to dissipate)”
“Broken floor”
Lowered his head.
“The hand of the little blind man”
This seemed like an explanation, coming from the cognition in his and Nina’s memory.
Roland found that as long as he could ‘make’ enough sound, he would hardly be blind anymore.
He stood up and walked around the room excitedly, and his vision seemed to be a bunch of white fireworks lighting up his long-dark world.
This was Nina’s gift…
She gave him a candle that would never go out.
