The Urban Dao Child

Yang Dao and Dao Yin were sitting in their cottage, they were immersed in cultivation. A few days ago the two had come back from dealing with the incident in the Shelter Celestial Empire, and they asked Laohu Bai for something.

The lady was unable to deny anything to the two of them so she put forward a condition. The condition was that the two people stepped into the second stage of immortal cultivation. This required the couple to have the organs of their body to be tempered to the level of immortality.

The process was a little different than what they did in the first round of the immortal cultivation. The second stage needed them to blend their cells with the spiritual energy. When the person is united with the spiritual energy, that is when they become immortal. That was something she had told the two people earlier.

At this moment the two people were blending their vital organs with spiritual energy and the speed of the two was putting the entire immortal plane to shame. Laohu Bai was aware this would happen and she had begun thinking if the terms she set were too easy for the two.

While the two people were immersed in cultivation, Zen and Laohu Bai were sitting in front of each other playing chess.

Zen asked, "Are you really allowing the two of them to go out there and seek fights?"

Laohu Bai nodded and replied, "Do you really think that they do not have a sound reason to ask such a thing?"

"Indeed, if they wish to grow, then they will need to go out of this greenhouse. However, I feel like it is really too early to let them go out. I mean, the understanding of harmony they have is shallow.", said Zen.

"Yes, it may be superficial at the moment, but until they dive deeper they will not be able to understand it at all. In the mortal world, the four familiars made a decision that we will not interfere with what the Dao Child will do and how he will grow up till the age of sixteen. The result was the death of Yang's biological parents and that too at the hand of Ryu.

The master held us guilty and condemned us greatly back then, but when we let him grow on his own, he understood that what we did was unintentional and that the four familiars are not omnipotent. He forgave us, slowly and gained his temperament as the Master. You should have seen him back then, the pressure was so high that we all almost suffocated.

This time, we intend to do the same. The masters will grow stronger on their own. They are the dao, they need to have their own freedom, Dao is not to be kept hidden. However, since I was worried, I asked them to advance in cultivation.", said Laohu Bai.

Zen nodded and said, "Well, what you said is correct, but I am telling you, if they come across a situation they cannot solve, I will not sit back and watch like the rest of you."

She was very clear in this. The dao couple was her master and mistress, they were not yet as strong as they were in the past, thus, she will definitely not hesitate to intervene. Laohu Bai smiled and said, "It is fine, I understand what you mean. Do not worry, I will not stop you."

Zen nodded and said, "If you tried to stop me, I will imprison you in this greenhouse and leave anyway."

Laohu Bai chuckled, and replied, "Our Zen has become domineering."

Zen blushed slightly and turned her focus on the game in front of her. She was just trying to threaten the lady in front of her, but to think that the attack backfired. Just as the two were focusing back on the game, they sensed the movement in the spiritual energy.

However, this was to be expected, the two people had taken a long time given that they basically had no bottleneck in the process. Soon, the fluctuations calmed down and things returned to normal.

Zen said, "The patience paid off."

Laohu Bai nodded and said, "They were not only progressing in immortal cultivation but also comprehending other things they have learned during this expedition. I wonder what have they gained."

Yang Dao and Dao Yin slowly opened their eyes and they glanced at each other with a faint smile, the temperament of the two people had undergone a drastic change. It was as if they had been living for thousands of years, they seemed to have become ethereal.

Dao Yin opened her mouth wanting to ask something but Yang Dao just nodded to her and slowly blinked his eyes. Dao Yin smiled and then she also made a head-shaking gesture. They did not speak to each other, yet they were able to communicate with each other perfectly.

While cultivating, the two entered a deep meditation state and gradually opened the Dao Space, the two had spent a long time together there and the understanding of the harmony of Dao Yin and Yang Dao had increased significantly.

They could just look at each other and understand what the other person wanted to say or do. This was the initial level of their harmony. If they were to face an intense battle, then the harmony will be even higher. They will be able to even coordinate their attacks better than before.

After they finished speaking in gestures, they stood up and stretched before leaving the cottage to find Laohu Bai and see what she will say now.

The two people helped each other adjust their clothes and they left the cottage. The effect of the harmony was the increased resolution of the essence of Dao in their actions. When they walked together, the people were confused about which one to look at, it was as if the two people were one and the same.

The dao resonance around them left a lot of elders and deacons of the holy land in a stupor. The simple act of smiling could make the wilting flowers come back to life, although, nobody said anything or noticed it, they could feel the changes.

The two people arrived at the pavilion and found the two ladies to be playing chess with each other. They did not say much and did not stop the game, but stood at the side watching them play, however, every few moves the two people will shake their heads in unison. As if they were robots.

Laohu Bai could not hold back anymore and ask, "Why do you shake heads?"

They spoke in unison, "You missed the best move."

Then the two looked at each other and smiled. Laohu Bai was surprised and even Zen cast the two people a gaze brimming with surprise. She did not expect the two to be so harmonized with each other now.

Laohu Bai smiled and said, "I am not impeccable at the art of chess. How about me and Zen team up and take on you two? A team match?"

The Dao Couple shrugged and nodded. Laohu Bai found this as a chance to save her face from Zen, and then she began to rearrange the chess pieces. Zen changed her position and came to sit beside the white tiger.

Yang Dao and Dao Yin sat together, and after a few minutes, the game began. The difference was clear from the first move itself. While Laohu Bai and Zen were playing like two people. Yang Dao and Dao Yin were moving like one unit. They did not show any loopholes, just one the other was about to fumble, one of them will cover the flaws.

While Zen was completely defensive, Laohu Bai was attacking constantly. The two people were not of one mind. The game was played like, each player from a team cannot play more than one move in succession.

So when Laohu bai set up an attack, Yang Dao will counter her, and Zen will have to prepare the defense, while as the last cog of the cycle, Dao Yin will target the exposed loophole.  This will send Laohu Bai and Zen back to square one.

This reset of the situation was only to build up pressure on the opponents and have them expose a serious loop whole. After ten minutes, the game came to an end. Yang Dao said, "You played well, I did not expect you two to be so good."

Dao Yin nodded and said, "The online mistake was to not follow your initial strategy, playing together, you could have instead followed what the other player did, this would have been a harder competition."

Zen nodded and said, "I have learned."

Dao Yin smiled and Laohu Bai asked, "Big sister Bai, about that thing we talked about. Can we go out now?"

Laohu Bai nodded and said, "You fulfilled the condition, you can go, however, do not be complacent, and also, if you find Daemons among mortals you will report to me. Okay?"

The two people nodded with sweet smiles on their faces.
