The Urban Dao Child

Yang Dao and Dao Yin returned to the holy land and they were greeted by the chief instructor directly. They could tell that things were not going to be a breeze.

Laohu Bai stood in the array hall with her cold gaze locked on the two people, she said in a cold voice, "Did I stutter when I said that you two cannot come back till the problem is completely solved?"

Yang Dao and Dao Yin gulped and the boy tried to say, "That, Chief Instructor, the problem of the royal family was solved, what else did you mean for us to handle."

Laohu Bai took a deep breath and then with a smile she said, "You can figure that out by yourself and after you have done solving it, you can come back, now leave."

She waved her hand and the two were sucked inside a portal, vanishing in an instant. Zen asked, "Do you not think that you were being a bit too much?"

Laohu Bai sighed and said, "These two are too careless. They need to look at the bigger picture. We cannot spoon-feed them as we did in the past, you know what happened then? They are needed to look around and solve a few troubles themselves, it was them, who asked us to not meddle with balancing the immortal plane."

Zen nodded and said, "Well, still be gentle. You were like a moment just now."

Laohu Bai shook her head and said, "I am the white tiger the master of the earth element, in a sense, I am a mountain.  Do you remember I followed them there earlier? I wanted to make sure they were doing a proper job. I could have forced them to stay there but I did not, that was gentle enough."

Yang Dao and Dao Yin appeared in the void above the Xu Empire. They just caught the sight of the emperor going back into the palace with two old corpses laying on the ground. They did not intend to go back and enjoy the royal treatment.

They flickered and came to the empty mountaintop outside the empire boundary and they say down on a stone. Dao Yin frowned and asked, "Big Sister Bai has never been so angry with us. Did we make some big mistake?"

Yang Dao did not reply instantly, after thinking for a few minutes he said, "I think the problem in this place is not just simply the stained bloodline of the emperor. We do not know much about how things work in the inner immortal plane. The problem must be deeper and more complicated than this. We should research."

Dao Yin said, "If you put it like this, I have nothing else to say. However, where do we start?"

Yang Dao gazed at the clouds and after a few moments of silence both of them glanced at each other and smiled, "Travellers."

They vanished from their seats. Laohu Bai and Zen appeared in their posts. Zen said, "They finally started to think and work."

Laohu Bai nodded and said, "Let's see what they do."

Yang Dao and Dao Yin asked around and then they found a traveling firm. This company will take people who could not afford a spirit spaceship to travel the starry skies out on their commercial carriages.

The two were not here to travel but to check the travelers. Yang Dao approached an older lady and asked, "Senior, can I ask you a few questions?"

The old lady was shocked and surprised that a jade boy came up to her. She nodded and said, "Go ahead."

Yang Dao asked her, "Senior, do you often travel to other places across the starry skies?"

The lady shook her head and said, "This is my first time here."

While Yang Dao was questioning the old lady, Dao Yin was talking to men. They were exploiting the weak spots of the people with great interest. However, after an hour when they met, they both had slumped shoulders.

Dao Yin suddenly said, "I am going to read their memories and then compare the other places to this one."

Yang Dao sighed and said, "There is no other choice."

The two of them flew up in the void and opened their Dao Pupil. They held hands and the power of their pupils increased. The speed of their pupil's rotation increased by ten folds. At this moment what they saw was not only an x-ray vision of the people but their memories.

Dao Yin said, "Nothing out of the usual."

"Then let us check the places they have been to, directly.", said the young man.

Yang Dao said, "Time reversal."

In the center of his forehead, a dim golden glow emerged and the phantoms of people began to move. In his brain, images of their trips began to pour from a third-person perspective. Yang Dao suddenly frowned and said with strong vexation, "The void is blocking my sight."

Dao Yin raised her eyebrow and she began to share her vision with Yang Dao and said, "Indeed. This planet has been infested?"

Yang Dao nodded his head solemnly and said, "This is the problem that Big Sister Bai wants us to locate and solve."

"Hmmm, if only it was that easy.", said Dao Yin.

The boy nodded and said, "The problem, can only be solved from one place."

"The Core.", mentioned the girl.

They took a deep breath and Yang Dao said, "We should refill ourselves first and then go out searching for this thing."

They came back to the same mountaintop and sat down. They began to cultivate to fill up their reservoirs to the brims. They were going deep under the surface of the planet to face someone, they could not be sure to deal with at this point of their strength.

To think they were going to face the Void again, that too so quickly. The last battle they may have won, but they had learned that the void was anything but easy to deal with, They were not only cultivating but also figuring out how to deal with the enemy down under.

They were back at their peak quickly, and they had also developed what they were going to do this time. They held hands and then they began to descend to the core from where they stood only. It was like a shaft had opened up under their feet and it was taking them down like an elevator.

Yang Dao and Dao Yin did not hesitate they were smiling at each other, they could sense the pressure increase with every millimeter they moved below. Yang Dao said, "Yin what do you think this guy will look like?"

Dao Yin shook her head and said, "A blob probably. You know, they do not have the knowledge of the laws of Dao, so how can they be one with the law of gravity? IF they are not one, then the thing must have been dismantled by the gravitational pull of the core."

Yang Dao nodded and said, "You have put up quite a scientific approach here."

They chatted casually for a few minutes before they could reach the bottom. Just when the ground below their feet turned red hot, Yang Dao and Dao Yin began to use the source energy of the fire element to counter the heat.

Yang Dao and Dao Yin were about to use the Dao Pupil when a portal appeared under their feet out of nowhere. The two people did not resist and went through the portal.

They found themselves standing in front of a blob of dark mass, this mass seemed to be latched onto the core of the planet. Yang Dao said, "Feeding on the core of the planet. I see, this is the real problem. You are the one who is messing up with the people of this planet."

The response was not the blob of mass vanish or scatter and with the face of hades, It said, "You look down on the void? Dao Child."

Yang Dao shook his head and was about to retort when Dao Yin said, "Look down on the void? Wrong, the void cannot be seen."

Yang Dao sighed and said, "Your sarcasm is not required and it was lame too."

Dao Yin kicked him in the shin and said, "Dare you to make a mockery of me in front of this blob see if I let you sleep on the floor."

Yang Dao shivered and said, "No, my love, how can I make a mockery of you? I apologize."

Dao Yin smiled and said, "Better that you know that I am supreme in the house."

The blob said, "You two, did you not come here to deal with me, what are you doing being cheesy to each other?"

Dao Yin and Yang Dao smiled, the first goal was confirmed, this blob of void energy has only gained consciousness not very long ago and thus the intellect was akin to a teenager. They could deal with this.

Yang Dao asked, "Why do you devour the core of the planet? You can devour the stars? Can you not?"

"Humph, what I do is my choice, fuck off.", said the blob.

Dao Yin said, "Yang enough time waste."

The young man nodded and they both raised their hands, they held each other's palms, and then they made a few seals. Behind them, the sign of eight trigrams appeared, and the suction forces from this sign began to pull the blob away from the core.

The void was innately moving to devour the trigram seal, however, it was aware that it was too weak and thus it was also putting up a struggle. Yang Dao and Dao Yin pushed this blob's consciousness into serious denial.

Suddenly, the blob began to devour itself, and a cold voice sounded in the mind of the young couple, "You two, we will meet again."
