The Way of The Dao

When Ling Tian woke up, he felt something soft but rough under him where he was lying.

"Little Shuiruo...?"

Instantly, Ling Tian couldn't help but remember the previous moment when he had suffered the heavenly punishment and Mu Shen found him and took him home, and that way Mu Shuiruo would take care of him too.

So Ling Tian thought he was in the Mu house and whispered the name of his beloved little woman.

"It seems that he is already waking up..."

A calm voice belonging to a woman entered Ling Tian's ears, which made him alert and aware that he was in a different place.

"Tell my father to come..."

The same voice was heard again, and at once, the sound of a door opening and closing was heard.

Little by little, Ling Tian opened his eyes and realized that he was in a very poor and dirty room, as if he were locked in a prison.

Ling Tian opened his eyes heavily as he looked around.

His body was mostly injured, although there were many internal injuries, Ling Tian knew that it would take time to recover. His skin also had several wounds, including his face that was covered completely by blood, so no one could really see who he was.

Ling Tian thought internally as he said to the World Tree in his heart, 'You really love to see me suffer, huh?'

With the vitality of the powerful tree, his body would be fine in just a few seconds, but despite this, Ling Tian did not curse it because he felt that he was in a much worse state before he fainted and perhaps the World Tree helped him a little.

Sending his spirit sense into his heart, Ling Tian was surprised when he entered.

The World Tree seemed a little smaller than before and the 9 colors of its leaves seemed to be a little dimmer than he remembered before.

What is happening?

Ling Tian was astonished to see how the World Tree looked, as if it would eventually start to dry up and eventually die.

But he didn't last more than 10 seconds watching inside his heart when a headache was assailing Ling Tian when he used his spirit sense for a long time.

Ling Tian had used almost all of his forces to kill the Void Beast and exhausted all of his Spiritual Energy and Immortal Essence.

However, Ling Tian decided to think about the World Tree when he was better when he felt a pair of chains tied to his body; these chains were tied to one of his feet and one of his hands.

Ling Tian tried to move his hand a little and quickly understood that he could break the chains even without using power, only with his pure body strength.

'It seems that these are composed of Chi energy as well...'

Ling Tian instantly realized that these chains were made of Chi energy and that it would prevent one from unleashing all of his strength and even absorb one's energy as long as the one in chains had no greater strength than the chains.

Ling Tian did not worry about this and felt that these chains were at most on the level of the Foundation Establishment.

Cultivation World?

Ling Tian could not help but think when he looked at the chains and felt the Chi spirit of this place.

This place had much more Chi spirit than the Divine Star Continent!

But soon Ling Tian shook his head as he thought much better of this. Even though this place had more Chi-spirit, it still lacked in comparison to a Cultivation World, so Ling Tian understood that it should be another small world.

Ling Tian sat down and realized that there was a person staring at him behind some bars from where he was locked up.

This was a very beautiful woman in her early twenties, with long hair and a curly constitution at its tips. Her skin looked soft and pretty and she wore a beautiful dress made of a fine and well made fabric, resembling a princess from a children's story.

She had brown eyes, with a touch of arrogance and indifference in them.

A cold and arrogant aura emanated from her, as if she were only looking at a weak and pathetic person.

Although this woman was clearly beautiful, Ling Tian was no longer surprised or impressed; to him, his women were the most beautiful and perfect women in the world and no one could compare to them.

His spirit sense spread imperceptibly fast to avoid the pain again, scanning the place and finally the woman who was watching him.

Ling Tian confirmed that he was actually in what appeared to be a basement hostage chamber under what was a huge mansion, while in the process he caught several people walking in his direction.

Ling Tian couldn't help but scowl when he noticed something about one of these people.

When he checked the level of the woman in front of him, Ling Tian raised an eyebrow when he saw that this woman's level was at the Foundation Establishment Peak Stage. He, too, realized the situation he was in and noticed something about this woman, but decided to say nothing and see what people wanted.

'It seems that this place is not an easy thing...' Ling Tian thought when he noticed that those who seemed to be guards throughout the mansion were on average in the Chi Gathering Sixth Stage. Only a few had a higher level than the previous ones.

This type of background was clearly superior than that of Star City.

Only this family, or mansion, could easily rule the entire Star City.

"Who are you and what is your intention in entering our family's territory?"

The woman's cold voice was heard soon after Ling Tian looked at her.

Because of this, Ling Tian quickly confirmed that he was imprisoned by a powerful family or influence and they had mistaken him for a thief or someone with bad intentions.

Ling Tian smiled bitterly within himself as he understood that after defeating the Void Beast he had been sucked into a space crack and entered another world, resulting in him falling into this person's territory in front of him.

However, with a little time, Ling Tian could largely recover and leave this world whenever he wanted. He did not have any pills to recover since he used them all against the Void Beast, and he also did not have any herbs to prepare any pills since before he left he had left them to Mu Shuiruo along with many pieces of jade containing the information of Alchemy and his own advices.

Ling Tian felt that at this point he could face someone in the final stages of the Golden Core, so with a little time his power would soon be restored.

The sounds of footsteps entering the place were soon heard when a group of people arrived and approached where the girl was, while they then watched Ling Tian with obvious arrogant and contemptuous expressions.

"Who are you and what are your intentions in entering my family's territory?"

The same question was heard again, but this time, it came from the mouth of a man who was standing next to the woman who had spoken earlier.

This man was clearly a man in his mid-40s, with somewhat rough and rugged features but who conveyed an overwhelming feeling to anyone who spoke to him.

His level of cultivation was clearly in the Early Stage of Foundation Establishment and he gradually released his aura to put pressure on Ling Tian.

Ling Tian looked at his face and found some similarity to the woman next to him, so he easily knew that they were both father and daughter.

'A child really does look like their parents...'

Ling Tian scoffed inside when he saw both of them.

They had chained him up and now they were interrogating him as if he had committed a crime, so Ling Tian felt no gratitude whatsoever to them.

It was easy to say that they didn't even care and they would let him to die if he didn't wake up.

Ling Tian's eyes finally became indifferent, unemotional as he watched the father-daughter pair and even conveyed a subtle feeling of disdain, arrogance and contempt.

The man was slightly surprised to notice this change in Ling Tian and realized that his aura seemed to have no effect on what he thought he was playing hard to get, but he didn't take that into consideration and asked again.

"Do you know that you are in Chen family territory and if you don't confess you can die right now if I decide to?"

The man spoke again with deep arrogance, wanting Ling Tian to tell all his secrets.

However, Ling Tian kept the same expression on his face without caring about the threat he was receiving; and on the contrary, his eyes seemed to convey a feeling of mockery.

"A weak man like you, without any energy and with several wounds in his body, you must be the bastard who stole several things from the powerful Immortal Sect of the Thousand Swords, right?"

The man asked Ling Tian another question and then raised his hand for him to observe what was on his fingers.

"We received news that you had stolen several things from the Sect, so everything should be here, do you have anything to say this time?"

The man touched an exquisite ring that he wore on one of his fingers.

Curiously, the man had other rings on several of his fingers, as if he were wearing them as a mark of his triumphs.

Ling Tian had noticed that his own storage ring was missing, so he quickly noticed when he had found this man before he came that he had his spatial ring.

Although most of his things were in his Little World and he did not have much in his storage ring except for simple things, Ling Tian would obviously be annoyed to see this.

"Although I do not know how you can recover in part after being fiercely beaten by the powerful techniques of the Sect Master and the Elders, your cultivation has been lost and now you cannot even run." The man sneered as he watched Ling Tian with contempt, and then turned to see his daughter.

"Zeiwei, call your Master and let him know that we have caught the thief, that he can come whenever he wants."

The woman nodded and saw Ling Tian for the last time, her eyebrows furrowing as her eyes showed that she was hesitant to see him. Then, she soon left and the man was left with what appeared to be several bodyguards.

"We have captured your mother, so shouldn't you surrender and tell me where you have hidden the other things you stole so I don't do anything to her?"

The man spoke again, telling Ling Tian that someone had been captured.

Ling Tian frowned at this as his intuition was clearly shaken a little by what the man was saying.

His intuition became a little more and more alarmed.

And it should be added, that Ling Tian was still feeling that sense of warning that he had felt before facing the Void Beast, feeling that he should be looking for something or someone quickly.

The man saw that he did not get any answer from Ling Tian, so he got upset and told one of the guards: "Tell the other Headquarters to send the mother of this bastard to the Immortal Sect of a Thousand Swords and let them take care of her."

The man grinned sinisterly as he saw Ling Tian, wanting Ling Tian to show at least a reaction of fear.

But this would make him even angrier when he noticed that Ling Tian never even grimaced at this.

With no other choice, the man turned around and walked away.

"If you don't want something bad to happen, you'd better give me back my ring and let me go, otherwise you'll regret it in the future and you'll lose your hand without even realizing it."

Finally, the indifferent voice of Ling Tian was heard, stopping the man who had started to walk away.

The guards were surprised and were about to insult Ling Tian when the man spoke first.

"Bring him in and take off his chains, show him what happens when he interferes with our family. Then we will prepare him so that he will be ready when my daughter's Master arrives... he cannot escape even if the God of Heaven himself comes..."

The man laughed for the last time before leaving.

The guards opened the cell where Ling Tian was, showing sinister grins the more they saw him.

The sound of the door closing with a padlock from the entrance of the subterranean chamber was clearly heard.

The guards approached Ling Tian with various objects in their hands.

Ling Tian smirked before breaking the chains and disappearing from where he was sitting.
