The Witcher: Elemental Lords
#1036 - You arrange it.
Outside the northwestern fortress, a large patch of black mist coalesced, forming a human figure that slowly walked towards the fortress.
Soon, he arrived at the base of the fortress.
Inside the fortress, the wizard array emitted an incredibly strong warning, and the wizards guarding the array were stunned.
However, this warning indicated an internal visitor, and one at the eighth level or above.
A big shot was here for an inspection, and they were even walking through the fortress; typically, eighth-level wizards would simply fly overhead and leave, without needing to pass through the fortress.
The seventh-level wizard immediately emerged from his secluded residence and came outside, peering towards the outside of the fortress through the wizard array.
At the entrance of the fortress, Dorre was queuing like an ordinary person, about to enter.
The wizard recognized Dorre and was shocked, wondering what he was doing here and if something was amiss; what could he possibly want here?
Although the Glory Empire and the Northern Kingdom were two separate countries, their relationship was relatively harmonious, with almost no possibility of war; being stationed here was an easy job, and his role was merely to suppress unruly merchant caravans and prevent black wizards from passing through.
Why was Dorre here? Considering his recent actions, the wizard had a small suspicion.
He tidied himself up and hurriedly left the wizard tower, waiting respectfully at the entrance.
Sure enough, before long, Dorre arrived in front of the fortress's wizard tower.
Dorre strode over, looking somewhat pleased; according to intelligence, the wizard in charge of the fortress tower was a noble descendant named Mazzaro, over a hundred years old, and a former child prodigy who had achieved such accomplishments.
Dorre approached Mazzaro, who quickly stepped forward and bowed slightly, "Greetings, Duke Dorre."
Although he was much older than Dorre, Dorre's strength was undeniable, and even a clone of his could easily suppress them.
Whether in terms of status or strength, he was easily suppressed.
Dorre nodded, "Greetings, Wizard Mazzaro. I apologize for coming uninvited, but I have something to trouble you with!"
Mazzaro had a faint suspicion and whispered, "Could Duke Dorre be seeking to communicate with the wizards of the Northern Kingdom? As far as I know, Wizard Dorre seems to have had contact with the higher-ups of the Northern Kingdom, right?"
Now it was Dorre's turn to be embarrassed; he had been too busy fighting and hadn't communicated with anyone, surrounded by hostility, and he had no desire to know anyone.
If he really wanted to communicate, he would probably have to go through Vasily, who was the spokesperson.
Contacting the Northern Kingdom through the Glory Wizard Alliance's northwestern fortress was also an attempt to go through official channels, to avoid unnecessary trouble from private communication.
He slowly said, "I wanted to purchase some items through the Northern Kingdom's Imperial Mage Corps; I have no other intentions. It's easier to talk through official channels, especially since I came from the Northern Kingdom, and some things are not easy to communicate privately."
Mazzaro raised an eyebrow, relieved that Wizard Dorre's heart was still with the Glory Empire.
He thought for a moment and smiled, "That's easy to arrange. We often have contact with the Mage Corps of the Northern Kingdom and occasionally exchange resources; our relationship is very harmonious. Coincidentally, tomorrow is the day of the exchange. If Wizard Dorre doesn't mind, you can stay here for a day, and we can go together tomorrow? Or, if you're in a hurry, I can contact them for you now?"
Dorre shook his head and said, "I'm not in a hurry. Since there's an event tomorrow, I might as well stay here for the night. Also, do you have any troubles here? If so, I can help you solve them?"
Mazzaro smiled slightly, "No, no, it's peaceful here; there's nothing that requires the Duke's help."
Dorre asked, "Really?"
Mazzaro nodded, "Really, there's nothing."
Dorre nodded and said, "Alright then, this is my communication magic纹, notify me tomorrow if anything happens."
A spark of light flew towards Mazzaro.
Mazzaro excitedly accepted the light, knowing it was from an eighth-level big shot, and slowly said, "Then we'll contact you tomorrow?"
He originally wanted to suggest that Dorre stay in the wizard tower, but seeing that Dorre showed no interest, he didn't say anything.
After the two finished communicating, Dorre turned and walked in another direction.
Mazzaro watched Dorre's departing figure, a thought crossing his mind.
It was said that this person also walked through the fortress back then; could he be revisiting old haunts?
Sure enough, he saw Dorre wandering around, seemingly looking at something.
Mazzaro shook his head and turned back to the wizard tower.
...
There were three fortresses in the northwest: one between the northwestern countries, one between the northwestern highlands, and the last one, closest to the Northern Kingdom, was the most magnificent of the three northwestern fortresses.
On both sides were wide, high desert canyons, with this massive fortress straddling the middle, completely dividing the north and south; anyone wishing to enter or exit had to either fly over the dangerous canyons on both sides or take the safe route through the fortress.
Although it was March, it was still very cold here, but some high-level merchant caravans, unafraid of the cold, had already started their activities; walking on the streets, Dorre saw many merchant caravans preparing.
This was a fortress, but also a small city, with many people around, hawkers, and recruiters aplenty.
It was as lively as it had been back then, with almost no difference except for the weather.
The busy crowds, the warriors drinking on the streets, the dashing wandering poets, and the merchant caravans formed a beautiful picture around them.
As Dorre walked, he felt the surrounding atmosphere and climate.
Compared to the Arbis Mountains, the cold here didn't seem so cold; the Arbis Mountains were slightly damp and cold, while here it was dry and cold. It was easy for the Profound Corpse Worm to maintain its temperature, but maintaining moisture was somewhat difficult.
At his level now, the Profound Corpse Worm clone could almost control every cell, almost like a part of his body, but the Profound Corpse Worm was, after all, a Profound Corpse Worm.
Dorre had recently incorporated some corpse-related rules into the Profound Corpse Worm, and its strength was slowly increasing, not far from the seventh level, only a matter of time.
Walking, watching, and understanding his own situation, Dorre soon arrived at a hotel, paid the money, and found an ordinary room.
As soon as he entered the room, the Profound Corpse Worm clone suddenly dispersed, turning into countless black dots and disappearing into the room.
...
The next day.
Just as dawn broke, in the room, black dots gathered together, forming a complete Dorre, and after putting on a magic robe, Dorre quickly walked out of the room.
Arriving at the entrance of the wizard tower, Mazzaro was already waiting, along with several other wizards, all waiting at this time.
Seeing Dorre approaching, the wizards stared at him intently.
"Wizard Dorre!"
"Duke!"
The group greeted him sparsely.
Those who called him Duke had noble status, while those who called him Wizard were purely wizards.
Dorre glanced at everyone and nodded slightly, "Good morning, everyone." He looked at Mazzaro and said, "You arrange it; just treat me as an ordinary wizard."
