The Witcher: Elemental Lords
#326 - Raid
"Wizard Dole, you've arrived. What brings you here this time?" His eyes shone with boundless light.
Looking at the middle-aged man, Dole thought to himself, 'Am I so famous now?' He smiled faintly and said, "Selling a few potions. They're a bit valuable, and no one else is offering a good price, so I had to come here."
The middle-aged man's eyes immediately narrowed into a line, and he smiled inwardly, 'It must be that kind of potion.'
He immediately bowed and said, "Wizard Dole, please follow me."
Dole glanced at him and said, "Don't let news of my arrival leak out."
The middle-aged man then glanced at the young man and sealed his lips with both hands.
The young man immediately nodded, not daring to speak, thinking to himself, 'This person's background is really big. The chief steward rarely pays attention to others, but today he's being so humble?'
The two then walked towards the back. Before long, they arrived at a slightly dark and quiet room.
The room was very quiet and also very dark. Only a thin, faint ray of light shone down from above, hitting the table in the middle and providing all the light for the room, creating a somewhat heavy atmosphere.
The middle-aged man came to the opposite side of the table, sat down, and looked at Dole in the darkness, his eyes bright. "Wizard Dole, is it the kind of potion that can heal level six or even level seven injuries?"
Dole sat down opposite him and nodded faintly. He casually took out three bottles from his pocket and said, "I only have three bottles on hand. The raw materials are too rare, and I want to sell them as soon as possible. I've been very poor lately."
The middle-aged man lowered his head, gazing eagerly at the potion bottles, thinking in his heart. He also knew Dole's asking price, and he quickly came up with several plans.
"Wizard Dole, I have a few options here for you to consider. First, our auction house can buy them right now, and we can negotiate the price. This would be more in line with your current need for money. Second, you can take money from us as a mortgage, and we'll calculate the interest. After the auction, it will be deducted from the proceeds. Of course, this will take longer. Third, if there's something you want, we can help you buy it. Afterward, we'll arrange for this high-level item to be in the year-end auction. You can come and collect the money then. What do you think?"
Dole smacked his lips, thinking that all three options seemed good.
He thought for a moment and said, "What I want is a level six or level seven potion formula. Can you auction those too?"
The middle-aged man's smile immediately froze, and he laughed awkwardly. "According to imperial regulations, we can only auction finished products. Formulas cannot be auctioned, but we can place an order with the Alchemist Guild on your behalf. Would that be acceptable?"
The Glorious Empire has very strict control over professionals. The things that can be done in each industry are basically under their control. Most of the auction houses and adventurer guilds are founded by their own people. Unless you go to a black market with no safety net, these official institutions would never challenge imperial law for anyone's sake.
Dole raised an eyebrow. "You can buy on my behalf?"
The steward smiled and said, "Yes, but you need to provide your identification and the Glory Token attachment."
Dole stroked his chin. This was very official. Who knew if they would make a profit off the price difference?
He thought for a moment and said, "Since you're going to the Alchemist Guild to buy it, then never mind. I'll sell some other things. That should be enough to make up the money for buying the formula."
He had been frantically concocting potions for a while. Besides the ones for the Rose Merchant Guild, he had several hundred bottles of mental strength potions and magic power potions left over. He had originally planned to give them to Rosa, but he wouldn't give them to her for now.
He took out a small box and smiled faintly. "Just sell the things inside here directly."
The steward smiled and took it. A level five alchemist, a near level six alchemist, would definitely offer level five potions.
He was also a wizard. His mental strength swept over the outside of the box, and he immediately beamed.
Mental strength potions and magic power potions suitable for level three wizards were always hot commodities. Now he had something to report to those people.
He immediately nodded with a smile and said, "Please wait a moment. I'd like to ask, will the payment be in magic crystals or gold coins?"
"Magic crystals, please." For wizards, the value of magic crystals was slightly higher, and the most important thing was that they were easy to carry.
The steward picked up the box, stood up, and said to Dole, "Please wait a moment." With that, he got up and left the room.
Only Dole was left in the dark room.
Dole raised his head, looking at the only light above, and tapped his fingers unconsciously on the table, thinking about some things in his heart.
Time passed slowly, and soon half an hour had passed.
Dole thought and pondered about his next plan. Time passed imperceptibly. Just then, the Xuan Corpse Worm in his body frantically warned him that poison was invading.
The Xuan Corpse Worm itself was an extremely poisonous object. After having the Xuan Corpse Worm, he was almost immune to most deadly poisons. If anyone knew his situation, they would never use poison to deal with him. But, who was poisoning him?
He thought frantically in his heart, who was trying to deal with him? The intelligence was obviously not in place.
He carefully analyzed the poison. Its greatest effect was paralysis. He thought about it. It seemed that with his current strength, the greatest effect of this poison would be to cause inconvenience. It seemed very simple!
How should he pretend?
Just as he was thinking about what to do, two men in black walked in from behind.
As soon as they came in, they went straight to Dole. One of them had a wooden stick in his hand and struck at his head.
He immediately understood that the auction house was a mixed bag, and it was inevitable that some strange people would sneak in. The internal affairs were also not united, and his news had been leaked!
Dole released his mental strength and 'saw' the situation behind him.
He pretended to have just heard the noise, turned around 'with difficulty,' and said hoarsely, "Who… are… you…?"
The two men in black didn't say a word and directly struck his head with the stick.
Dole couldn't pretend anymore. If he was hit, with the two men's level three warrior strength, his head would be split open.
Just as the two were about to reach him, Dole raised a hand, and the surrounding wind turned into two thin ropes, wrapping around the two men. In an instant, they were locked in the wind ropes from head to toe.
The two only felt that the surrounding air was flowing strangely, but they didn't notice anything. But the next step, they felt as if they were poisoned, and their bodies seemed to be trapped in a swamp, unable to move.
Strange, shocked, the men in black were horrified.
Just then, they saw Dole, who had been showing some signs of paralysis, slowly stand up, a smile on his face.
The two were now extremely shocked.
At this time, a breeze blew past, and the masks on their faces suddenly shattered, revealing their faces.
One had a pointed mouth and monkey cheeks, and the other had triangular eyes. Neither of them looked like good people.
Dole thought for a moment and didn't directly interrogate them. Instead, he used a hallucinogenic potion and a truth serum.
He took out two syringes, extracted the paralytic agent, and gave each of them an injection. Then Dole took out the hallucinogenic potion and the truth serum, pried open their mouths, poured it in, and withdrew the wind element.
The two were still struggling, but after a moment, their eyes were crooked and their spirits were scattered. Obviously, their consciousness had collapsed.
In the darkness, Dole asked expressionlessly, "Who sent you here? Who is the mastermind behind this?"
The two spoke almost in unison.
"It's Steward Donau. He asked us to capture you and hand you over to another unknown adult."
