The Witcher: Elemental Lords
#366 - Meeting an old friend in a foreign land
It was the same room as last time; the dim theme never changed.
Ekesh summoned a servant, who brought in some water. He sat down slowly, facing Dole.
“Your forging furnace is already in sight. It's being built according to your requirements, as high-end as possible. However, the dwarves require cash payment, not Imperial gold notes, and the price is no less than eight million gold coins.”
“That's just for the forging. It doesn't include enchanting yet. If it comes with a magic array, the price is estimated to skyrocket to twenty million.”
Ekesh took a sip of water, feeling somewhat astonished by the size of this business deal, so he asked in a somewhat probing tone.
As the chief steward responsible for reception at the auction house, he had seen all kinds of big waves, but even he dared to know about transactions exceeding millions or tens of millions, as these were, after all, rare.
Dole stroked his chin. Eight million gold coins, and in cash? That was impressive. As of now, he only had five hundred thousand on him. It seemed he had to go into seclusion for a while and turn all the medicinal herbs into potions.
He raised his head and said, “Alright, I'll work overtime these next few days and turn all the herbs on hand into magic potions. That should be about enough.”
He bought one million gold coins' worth of herbs from Orne. Converting that into profit would be close to eight million. After deducting consumption and costs, the income would be about five or six million, plus other potions, which should be enough.
At this moment, Ekesh's heart was trembling. “Wizard Dole, you can slow down a bit. If so many potions flood the market at once, it will cause a sharp drop in potion prices.”
Dole frowned. “But I need money, and currently, I only have the herbs for this one type of potion. I haven't arranged for the herbs for magic power potions yet.”
Ekesh smiled faintly, considered his tone, and said softly, “These problems are minor. I have two plans; you might want to consider them. First, you can become a potion maker for our auction house. We provide the materials, but we will charge forty percent of the fee. Second, we can help you with the herbs, but we will charge thirty percent of the fee.”
Dole stared at Ekesh expressionlessly, his lips twitching. “Your auction house really knows how to do business, huh? Forty percent, thirty percent, hehe.”
Ekesh's lips twitched. He knew Dole would react this way; it wasn't him who set the prices.
He said softly, “These are the rules of our auction house; I have no authority to make decisions.”
Dole nodded, his expression full of confidence and power, and said slowly, “I'll remember your favor. I'll give you a few good things later, at half the market price.”
Ekesh nodded politely, his expression calm.
He didn't think Dole could come up with anything good, except for level six potions.
After receiving the news, Dole walked directly out of the auction house.
Standing at the door, he let out a long breath. He was still short of money.
Just then, Dole heard a voice beside his ear, “Wizard Dole, long time no see?”
It was a female voice, and a very familiar one at that. Dole was stunned.
He didn't know any female wizards other than those from Ellengard Academy. If there was one, could it be…?
He turned his head and saw a familiar figure, but that figure hadn't been seen for seven or eight years and seemed somewhat more mature.
He was immediately shocked. He had received news from Carl before, but he didn't expect to run into her now, after two or three years.
But how did she know this face of his? Did Carl tell her?
Molly had two warrior men beside her, seemingly protecting her.
Dole walked over slowly, looked Molly up and down, and said in surprise, “Molly, what are you doing here?”
Molly was also somewhat delighted. It really was Dole; he really hadn't used his true appearance before.
She forcibly suppressed the smile on her face, acting like she was meeting an acquaintance, and said, “I came from the Northern Kingdom. After staying at the fortress for half a year, I came here directly. If I hadn't gotten your information from Wizard Carl, I wouldn't have known you were doing so well.”
Seeing Molly's expression and her demeanor, and looking at the two guards beside Molly, he became thoughtful.
Good heavens, this fellow seemed to have unspeakable secrets.
He put away his expression, as if he had just met an ordinary acquaintance, and started chatting slowly.
“What are you doing here? Do you want to buy something? I know one of their chief stewards; I can pull some strings?”
At this moment, the guard beside her could no longer bear it and snorted arrogantly, “Does the Marcia family need the connections of a mere little wizard like you?”
Dole glanced at the guard beside him and blinked.
This fellow had good strength, a level five warrior, comprehending the existence of 'power'. Within five steps, Dole could only await slaughter, but beyond five steps, Dole could make him live, and he could make him die.
Strength was confidence, and family was the foundation.
He smacked his lips.
The Wassonburg super family, the Marcia family, controlled most of Wassonburg's energy industry, had many shops, and also involved the sale of basic supplies such as spices and salt. The family assets were trillions, indeed a behemoth.
Dole didn't feel embarrassed either, and smiled faintly, “Since that's the case, then goodbye.” Dole quietly made a hand gesture to Molly, ensuring she could see it.
Molly just glanced at it, and the two understood each other.
She then walked away, taking one last look at him.
Molly was four years older than him. He was twenty-one now, and Molly was twenty-five, the most beautiful moment in a woman's life. Coupled with the tall figure of a northerner and the physique of a wizard, she stood there, even in an ordinary magic robe, and appeared graceful and outstanding.
In two words, beautiful.
And in Molly's impression, Dole had changed too much from before. He was only fourteen when he left. Now, seven years later, his appearance had undergone earth-shattering changes, and even his aura had become incomparably powerful, giving her a sense of grandeur. If she hadn't had his image beforehand, she wouldn't have dared to recognize him. Moreover, Dole's personality had also changed somewhat, at least he wasn't as impulsive as before. A level four potion maker, being despised by an ordinary guard, had also become calm and indifferent to honor and disgrace. If it had been many years ago, I'm afraid this guard would have been dead.
This fellow was growing too fast.
She naturally saw Dole's gesture, which was a little secret between wizards. She nodded slightly.
Meeting an old friend in a foreign land should have been a cause for celebration, but the different identities of the two led to them being unable to recognize each other, which was truly a sigh-worthy thing.
Leaving the auction house, Dole took advantage of the night to walk out of the crowd and soon arrived at the quiet wizard tower cluster.
The night passed quickly.
In the following days, Dole was diligently refining potions, preparing to turn all the remaining spiritual power herbs into spiritual power potions. Rosa was helping him out; her potion-making talent wasn't great, but helping out wasn't a problem.
After reaching level six potions, each refinement, such as spiritual power potions, would take about three days from beginning to end. The process was very complicated and could not be mistaken, so Dole went all out every time he refined potions.
