The Witcher: Elemental Lords
#449 - Chase
The room was large, filled with various raw metal ores and refined minerals, all neatly categorized and packed into every corner.
Dolly felt relieved and, after discussing prices with them, paid a hefty sum. Although this was the far north, metal wasn't scarce but abundant, only the mining was extremely difficult. For the same quality and weight, it was thirty percent more expensive than in the Glory Empire.
Various crystals were the same, and other items were also slightly more expensive.
After agreeing on the quantity and price, the transaction was quickly completed. Dolly could tell that Ash was very anxious here and just wanted to leave as soon as possible.
After finishing, the man suddenly smiled and said, "Do you two have anything to sell? We also buy alchemical tools and scrolls, and our prices are absolutely fair."
Dolly thought for a moment, then shook his head and said, "I only have potions and such, not much in the way of finished alchemical products. Do you buy potions here?"
The man shrugged, saying helplessly, "Then you'll have to go to the shop next door." He had assumed these two were alchemists.
"Thank you."
Stepping out of the shop, Ash finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Dolly looked at him, somewhat puzzled, and asked, "Why are you so nervous?"
Ash looked at Dolly, annoyed, and said, "There's a formation of the Ice Goddess here. The Ice Goddess and the Snow Goddess are rivals, and the formations inside are all directed at me. How can I not be nervous?"
"Rivals?" Dolly was hearing this for the first time. He blinked and said, "It's just two meditation techniques, right? Is it really that serious?"
Listening to Ash's words, he now seriously doubted the true meaning of the two meditation techniques.
Ash rolled his eyes at him and said, "I'll tell you later. Let's get out of here quickly. There's malice all around."
Dolly readily agreed. The two of them didn't go to the potion hall next door but headed straight out, quickly blending into the snowy city before leaving.
In the far north in November, everything was covered in ice and snow. Occasionally, some greenery could be seen, the evergreen plants standing tall on the northern plateau, their vitality extremely tenacious. Looking out, the northern plateau was covered in white snow, a truly magnificent sight.
The cold air swept past their ears, drilling into their necks like knives, making them feel an acute, bone-chilling cold.
It was at least fifteen or sixteen degrees below zero here, and the cold weather meant there were hardly any people outside.
After leaving the city, Dolly and Ash exchanged a glance before striding out into the heavy snow.
They came out of the north gate and headed north without concealing their presence, simply walking along the road.
By now, quite a few people were secretly tailing them.
Some people, seeing this situation, stopped in their tracks, remaining at the city gate, while others were bold enough to follow.
Wizards all had flying spells, and the fact that these two weren't flying but walking made it clear that something was amiss. Some people, seeing this, came to their senses.
Dolly and Ash walked further and further away, soon reaching thirty to fifty kilometers from the city. By this time, it was almost dusk, and the sky was darkening.
The daytime in the far north was very short, only about five or six hours. It was getting dark quickly.
Just then, Dolly said to Ash, "Let's fly. We're officially entering the wilderness. Fighting here makes it easy to be interfered with by the Ice Goddess Temple."
Ash nodded.
They exchanged a look and then vanished into thin air with tacit understanding, continuing north.
At the same time, in the surrounding snowy world, several figures transformed into streams of wind, chasing after them.
Half an hour later, Dolly and Ash reappeared on a high ground. They stopped directly, and Dolly held a locust wood staff in his hand.
After stopping, the two looked into the distance. By now, under the sky filled with snow, the imperial capital of the distant Northern Kingdom was completely invisible.
Dolly only said, "Be careful," and a warning surged in his mind. In the air, dense snowflakes, accompanied by a gale, attacked them.
These snowflakes were powerful wizardry, and these people were not weak.
Dolly paused. "I'll defend, you attack." He communicated with the Wizard Tower, and instantly, a thick layer of air formed around him, covering a distance of three or four meters up and down. On closer inspection, this layer of air was not a static pile but a style of gale, rotating around him, much stronger than a normal defensive wizard.
Ash saw Dolly's defensive wizardry and was slightly surprised. She nodded, then floated up, coming behind Dolly. With a flick of her hand, mental power surged out madly, and large patches of snowflakes, ice blades, and ice cones condensed in front of her, forming almost in the blink of an eye from Dolly's defense, shooting in the direction she sensed.
There were people all around, and more than one.
The wind and snow now came from all directions, slamming heavily on Dolly's shield, creating a frenzied howl and a shrill sound of tearing through the air.
Bang, bang, bang.
Snowflakes the size of fingertips fell, landing on the defense shield. The seemingly subtle attack now emitted a sound like a stone hitting the ground hard. Pfft, pfft, pfft sounds rang out, stirring up ripples in the air.
With this level of power, the strength of each snowflake was infinitely close to the strength of a level three wizardry, and the number was very extensive.
Dolly's expression changed. Feeling the force of the wizardry impact, he thought, 'These wizards of the far north have some tricks.' He adjusted the focus of his defensive wizardry, and his expression calmed slightly.
At this time, Ash's ice and snow also clashed with the wizards in the distance. With one move, ice arrows, ice blades, and ice knives smashed two people out of hiding. They were two white-robed masked men, flying in the sky, each holding an ice crystal staff. The ice wind aura on the staff was strong, and clearly, both of them were practicing the same meditation technique.
Seeing the two rise into the air, Dolly's expression was calm. He pointed his hand, and two Wind Spear spells left his hand in less than a second.
The ice and snow still slammed down from all directions, but Dolly's expression did not change at all, as if it were not he being hit by the ice and snow.
The Wind Spear spell passed through the wind and snow without any hindrance, shooting directly at the two.
Ash, seeing Dolly's Wind Spear spell at this time, sighed slightly. How could she not achieve such ease? Dolly's control was simply earth-shattering, unprecedented and unmatched.
She changed her hand, sensing the surrounding ice and snow, and madly poured out her mental power, attacking the two opponents while trying to integrate into the surrounding world and change the environment.
Just then, Dolly frowned. He looked up, and in the white wilderness in the distance, several huge ice spears, three or four meters long, slammed fiercely in their direction. The power of this wizardry clearly exceeded level three, reaching level four.
Dolly didn't even look. Under his control, the Wind Spear spell had already reached the two.
He deliberately controlled the speed of the Wind Spear spell, very slowly, but the power was raised to the highest level.
The two were engaged in a counterattack with Ash. At this time, seeing Dolly's Wind Spear spell, sensing the powerful penetrating force contained within, they hurriedly adjusted their positions, and two large mirrors suddenly refracted in front of them.
Ice Mirror Technique.
The Ice Mirror Technique blocked most of Ash's attacks, and soon Dolly's Wind Spear spell landed on the Ice Mirror.
Boom, tens of millions of wind blades instantly exploded on the ice mirror. The power that erupted in an instant completely shattered the ice mirror in front of the two, and the broken ice turned into countless ice blocks and ice blades flying in all directions at extremely high speed.
