There's a Madman Sharpening His Knife at Night

A New Year’s letter to book friends

There is an activity at the starting point, which is to write a letter to everyone and review my writing process. It can also be regarded as a New Year summary for myself.

Time flies, and before I know it, my writing career has already been a year old.

I recall that the first time I had the idea of writing was one night on Anfu Road in Shanghai.

At that time, I was sitting on the curb with my friends, talking wildly across the street. I don’t know what the topic was, but the topic of writing came up.

At that time, my blood surged, and I realized that my youthful years were running out. Instead of living in confusion, it was better to cherish life and do what I loved in my limited life.

Later, by chance, I quit my job, returned home, and plunged into the ocean of writing.

The time spent coding is the same as playing games. It’s always late at night before I know it.

After all, spiritual travel must be based on material foundation. In human terms, we need to make a living and eat!

Several signings failed, making the already poor life even more difficult.

But as the protagonist Jiang You in my first book "Strange Sequence: Immortality Begins from Chinese Martial Arts" said, life, or destiny, always moves forward in a cycle of ups and downs.

The darkness is getting deeper and the dawn is not far away.

After receiving the contract signing information for the first book, I was ecstatic, and what followed was even more crazy code words.

Apart from eating and sleeping, life consists only of coding, and all social interactions are banned.

But this kind of life that seems as plain as water, and even very hard and miserable in the eyes of some friends, makes me feel happy to be immersed in it.

Since then, time has been rushing toward me at the speed of a high-speed train.

After writing more than one million words in my first book, I found that I had made many mistakes, and I had an idea in my mind. If I could make up for all the previous mistakes, what kind of results would I achieve.

It was because of this delusional thought before going to bed late at night that I wrote the second book "Suddenly a Madman Sharpens his Knife at Night".

If my previous writing life was bleak, then my life with double reading is hell.

Time, time, time, never enough time, never enough energy.

This caused me to focus more on writing.

I often take a nap in front of the computer, holding my forehead, and then continue writing when I feel better.

As the saying goes, it's difficult to pass a pass, but it's a pass to pass.

Relying on the bravery at that time, I have made it this far. When I look back now, I have written 1.78 million words.

This number really shocked me. It was a number that I had never thought about before.

During this period, I also met many lovely readers who commented, voted, and urged for updates.

Every time when I am exhausted both physically and mentally, when I see readers’ comments, I feel a force pouring into my body through the screen, supporting me to continue typing.

There is too much nonsense to talk about. The Spring Festival of 2024 is already around the corner. I would like to send a message to the book friends who have not had the best life in 2023: No matter how long the night is, it will eventually pass and the dawn is right in front of you! Grit your teeth and hold on, you can do it!

As for book friends who will make new developments in 2023 and make further progress in all aspects: There are only one or two opportunities in this life. When the opportunity arises, you must seize it firmly and strive to achieve a hundred feet in 2024. Go one step further!

2024 is the year of the Nine Purple Fire, the beginning of twenty years of great fortune. I wish everyone is like a dragon, with the power of a dragon lurking in the abyss, and a flying dragon flying in the sky.
