Chapter 265: The Old Man in Nurmengard

The predecessor of Nurmengard was a prison built by the Witch Party to imprison opponents.

Ironically, there is only one prisoner here now.

That is Gellert Grindelwald, who built it.

Such a legendary place is located on a high mountain in the landlocked country of Austria.

Vincent, who moved a long distance, opened his eyes and saw a dark and terrifying towering fortress.

"We are here." Victor was like a dead man, "There is no guard in this place, you can stay in it with confidence."

"Aren't you going in?" Vincent looked around.

There is no one here, and it seems that even animals do not exist.

"I can't go in." Victor pointed to the rusty door.

"As long as someone who has used black magic goes in, the Austrian Ministry of Magic will know it immediately."

Vincent spread out his left hand with black mist floating out, "If I go in now, will I be detected as well?"

"No, even if you pay the price of using black magic, your existence will not be discovered here."

Detection magic for the soul?

"That's quite thoughtful."

Among all the wizards around the world, he is probably the only one who can enter and exit freely.

Vincent raised his head slightly and looked at the slogan of the Witch Party, "Professor Dumbledore said it has become an excuse."

"I don't deny it." Victor paused as if he was lost in memory, "Until now, I believe he can bring us hope."

Vampires are okay in Europe. When they come to America or Asia, their treatment is not much different from that of werewolves who can infect Muggles.

Wizards standing at the top of the magic world still need to hide, and these magical creatures who are not welcomed by both sides have a worse life.

Vincent can understand him, and he also knows that he and Grindelwald are using each other.

But no matter what the reason is, it is stupid to inherit the ideas of the Witch Party.

"Mr. Brad, I'm going in."

Victor nodded slightly, staring at him as he pushed the door open.

The interior of Nurmengard has long been abandoned, with spider webs and dust everywhere.

Vincent raised his gun blade and cleared away the debris piled up at the staircase.

Climbing up the cold and dark stone steps, the weathered wall lit up with a faint light.

He looked closer and found that the stone was weathered and had cracks.

He opened the mithril suitcase and took out an alchemical item for lighting.

His footsteps were like ripples on the water, destroying the peace that had been maintained for decades.

There were many cells on each floor here.

There were no corpses, no bones.

When Vincent wondered if he was hallucinating, a golden translucent strange bird suddenly flew over.

It is said that Grindelwald's symbol is a golden phoenix.

Coincidentally, Dumbledore has a phoenix named Fawkes.

I don't know if it was a problem with his eyes, but this golden translucent phoenix flew up.

Vincent was sure it was not a physical entity, and it was still a very profound magic.

Casting without a wand? !

He shook his head and continued to move up.

When he reached the top floor, the golden phoenix appeared again.

It disappeared into a dark cell.

Vincent approached the cell and illuminated it.

There was a figure inside.

The other person sat at a table, wearing a spotless white robe.

The pair of childish eyes, one light on the left and one dark on the right, were particularly bright, not at all like an old man who had been imprisoned for 47 years.

"Welcome--" The other person spread his hands and conjured up another chair out of thin air.

Vincent couldn't believe that the old man in front of him with thick hair and neat and full teeth was Grindelwald.

According to rumors, he should be a poor old man with almost no teeth and few hairs left.

"Surprised?" Grindelwald waved his hand and conjured up a set of exquisite English tea sets.

"Most people want to see me end up miserably, I just fulfilled their wishes."

Even though he is over a hundred years old, his voice is still full of magnetism.

"Unexpected, but reasonable." Vincent sat on the chair and placed the alchemical items on the table.

The teacup with exquisite patterns was automatically filled.

He could smell the tea fragrance full of age, and he could also see that the cell was gradually fading away.

Grindelwald, imprisoned here, seemed to be able to change the entire fortress at will without a wand.

"Not to your taste?" Grindelwald took a sip from the teacup in front of him.

"Maybe." Vincent stretched out his left hand, "I actually prefer to drink iced cola."

"Interesting." Grindelwald's mouth corners slightly raised, "You are the first person who dares to test me in person."

"Doesn't it include Professor Dumbledore?"

His smile froze for a moment, "I thought he wouldn't tell you this."

Vincent looked very natural on the surface, but he was actually panicking inside.

These two elders seemed to be competing with each other secretly through him.

Dumbledore told him the story, probably to make him more careful.

Or was he trying to express something?

Vincent, shuddering, took a sip of hot tea, "Sir Grindelwald--"

"Call me teacher." Grindelwald put down the teacup and snapped his fingers.

Various pictures and spells appeared on the decayed cell walls.

"In the future I foresee, you will be my only apprentice."

Vincent turned his neck stiffly.

Almost all of what appeared on the wall was black magic.

[Growing up to be a true Dark Lord with the help of two mentors, possessing the power to conquer the magic world——]

"Can't I refuse?"

Grindelwald shook his head slightly, "Even if you refuse now, you will come back here again in the future."

Trelawney's prophecy will not stop creating coincidences, and it will become a fact no matter how long it takes.

Grindelwald saw all this powerlessness in dealing with the prophecy.

"The ending cannot be changed, but the process can be decided by you."

Vincent looked at him in a daze, "Do you know that prophecy?"

"Albus taught me extremely profound Transfiguration techniques."

Grindelwald paused, and suddenly laughed at himself, "He didn't fully learn my abilities, but he could always predict my important movements."

The prophecy can actually be deceived!

The key is not the characters, but the events that are bound to happen.

Since Voldemort chose Harry as his rival, the ending was destined to be a failure.

Even if he didn't choose that day, there would be countless children born in late July in the future.

The time can be after the pure-bloods dominate the entire wizarding community, or after they completely dominate the Muggle world.

But the prophecy knew that he was afraid of death, and the result was fulfilled immediately.

Vincent was afraid that other prophecies would appear after he became the Dark Lord, and he would definitely choose Grindelwald as his mentor.

The earlier the time, the better it is for him.

The prophecy will definitely force him to become this apprentice, and the reason may be worse than imagined.

Voldemort was afraid of death and brought the key choice forward.

Vincent was afraid of other prophecies and always wanted to delay time.

"Are you scared?" Grindelwald raised his teacup again, "For so many years, I have been looking for the reason for my failure.

I saw Albus defeat me personally, which greatly accelerated the whole plan."

He laughed at himself again, "I am scared, afraid that all my efforts will be in vain."

It was this fear that forced Dumbledore to decide to deal with Grindelwald that made the change.

If "for the greater good" had not become an excuse, the world would have been dominated by wizards long ago.

Then will the fight between the two of them, which is destined to happen, also take place in a different place?
